Media Analyze -Topic should be made by writer

Instruction for Assignment

Objectives for assignment:
1 To identify a current (last 12 months) media example that describes a situation in which addictions/addictive processes played a central role in the story.
2 To consider from an analytical stance, the role that media plays in the advancement of stereotypes and mythology of addiction.
Instructions:
Part One – Selecting and Reviewing Media Example

Decide on which media sample you will use. The media sample you choose can be of any length – although it is helpful to choose an article that is longer, so that you have more material to work with. It may be an article from a local newspaper or established news magazine, or a general news story from an online news source. This must be Canadian in content and preferably, although not necessarily, local to your area. It cannot be taken from an un-monitored online discussion forum or a source that is not open to the general public. Please stay with established news sources.

In the media analysis, you are being asked to analyze a media example by examining the perspective underlying the media sample paying particular attention to how this perspective influences how addictions/addictive processes are portrayed to readers/watchers/listeners.

Your analysis should be no longer than 1000 words and include:

1) a summary of the media sample and the full citation;
2) your own critical analysis of the content (this could be based on any theory or practice models/frameworks and include an exploration of any assumptions, bias, etc.);
3) a reflection on the implications for social work concerning the article’s message,possible impact on societal views and capacity to either reinforcing or shifting these views.

The tour should be targeted at a college student encountering the work for the first time. How media reinforces the invisibility of Asian Americans and perpetuates the Black-White Binary within the Affirmative Action Debate

This research paper will focus on how CNN (www.CNN.com) perpetuates the Black-White binary (Perea, 1997) and reinforces the invisibility of Asian Americans within the affirmative action debate post 2003. Please sort through articles on www.cnn.com to determine how media has largely contributed to the silencing of Asian Americans as it relates to affirmative action policies within higher education. Use the Black-White binary as a framework when parsing through the articles. I need the actual findings from the cnn.com research with citations to specific articles illustrating how media reinforces the affirmative action debate as a Black-White issue. Also highlight the invisibility of Asian Americans in the discussion and the problems of their model minority status by specifically looking at those Supreme Court cases. Use as many citations as necessary. I do not need an introduction – I just need the body of the paper to be about the research findings.

The Effect of Social Media on Brand Building

This research paper is the follow up to a research proposal which was written by another writer (who no longer works for you), so I am hoping you can continue on along the lines of this proposal. I will upload the proposal document and the approval feedback I received from my school, so it is clear what the expectation is for this paper. I will also upload the actual guidelines I have to follow as well. What is most critical for me is the primary data I need to refer to – something which is causing me immense stress right now. I’m hoping there will be some data available somewhere that can be used to add strength to this paper, as the data I had hoped to be able to access, is no longer an option. The final submission needs to be 4500-6000 words hence why I have requested 4400 in this order. It will allow me to add information about the company I work for and hopefully adapt any data that you can find accordingly. I would prefer to be contacted by email if there are any problems – I am contactable 24/7 by this method. I sincerely hope you are able to follow on from the proposal document as this is what I have been approved to continue with by my school. Anything outside of this will be a serious problem. I look forward to having this paper finished so I can complete my course!!!

Maddy News

You also may access the Maddy Daily online by following these steps: 1. Go to www.maddyinstitute.com 2. Go to “News” on the bar at the top of the page. 3. In the drop-down menu, select “Maddy Daily.” 4. Select the day that you would like to read. For each paper, you should cut and paste the brief information on the article in the Maddy Daily at the top of the paper. You will then write one page on the article, relating the article to concepts from the class. Here is a brief list of questions you MAY wish to address in the one-pager. You are NOT required to address each of these questions in your one-pager – they are only offered as ideas for issues you may want to include. • What is the primary level of government that is responsible for this issue? • What other levels of government are involved, and what, if any, are their roles? (This will address federalism.) • What budget-related issues are involved – how much does it cost, will this action cut or increase funding for the program/issue, and other such budget-related questions? • Has legislation been proposed to address this issue? If so, at what level of government – federal, state, local? • What is your position on this issue? (This will address political ideologies.) • What do you believe influenced you – parents, peers, educators, or other sources – in coming to this position on the issue? (This will address political socialization.) • What interest groups, if any, are involved in addressing this issue? Which interest groups are in support of your position, and which interest groups are opposed? (This will address interest groups.) • What are some of the arguments against your position and how would you respond to those arguments? A paper with less than a full page for each article is not acceptable and will receive no more than half-credit. A full page consists of text only. Headers/footers, titles, name/date, and the like are NOT calculated in the full page requirement. Hand-written work will NOT be accepted. NOTE: The writing assignment should be one full page double-spaced with one-inch margins on all sides. Please use Times News Roman 12-point font. You also should use appropriate grammar and spelling.
