Case Study on John reuniting with his family Introduction: The purpose of this case study is to evaluate real life incidents analyze the consequences are and how serious they are. At the same time, look for other alternatives that lead us to a possible decision that morally acceptable according to ethics. Narrative Story: We all heard about Cubans emigrating to this country. John emigrated from Cuba a few years ago, leaving his family behind to look to freedom and better economy. As soon as he arrived in the US , John started working very hard with extended hours for couple of years until he was able to save some money with the main purpose to bring his family to the US. With time, John saves enough money for down-payment to buy a used great condition bote. His idea was to drive to bote to Cuba and bring his family safe in a short period of time Analysis: What does John want? John wants to bring his family to the US What are the possible consequences of John’s actions? He may get arrested by US Coastguard. 70% He can get arrested by the Cuban’s Government 40% John puts his family in big danger 80% They may all die 30% Large monthly bills to pay for the boat and insurance regardless of what happens to it 90% According to ethics rules more than 50% to other is considered Major Evil which means unethical. Other Alternatives – Bring his family requesting VISA: This alternative does not work for John because the process will take at least 14 years, his parents were old. The family in Cuba could built a raft in Cuba and try on their own, so they request asylum by wet feet , dry feet policy: This alternative would not work either because in Cuba the people doesn’t have the possibilities to built a good raft. Conclusion: Even though alternatives do not meet the objective, the consequences are greater than 50% major evil which is considered unethical.

As we have been discussing in class, analysis is the process of examining the way(s) things work in order to reach a greater understanding, and a causal analysis allows us a chance to observe the causes, effects or both of some subject in order to better understand those elements. For this essay, your task will be to construct an analysis that examines something for its causes, effects, or both. There is nothing you can choose that is not important enough for this essay, as it is important to you personally. The only topical restrictions are that your essay must be kept both clean and its content must be legal; essays laden with profanity and/or focusing on illegal or illicit activities are not acceptable. In order to be successful from a rhetorical standpoint, this essay must demonstrate the various aspects of the causal analysis mode that we have covered in class.
