1. Choose causes OR effects to discuss in your Summary Proposal Paragraph, and then write the paragraph. Make sure you have the following elements: topic sentence, three subtopic sentences (one for each cause or effect), two details per subtopic sentence, and a concluding sentence.
2. If you chose causes for the Summary Proposal Paragraph, then choose effects for your specific paragraph. If you chose effects for your Summary Proposal Paragraph, then choose causes for your Specific Paragraph. Now, decide which cause or effect you want to develop into a specific paragraph (this paragraph will focus on ONE cause or ONE effect). Write your paragraph with the following elements: topic sentence, three subtopic sentences (one for each aspect of that cause or effect – remember the SpongeBob example), at least two details per subtopic sentence, and a concluding sentence.
