Assessing Community Needs week 8 Assignment

Understanding the Role of Information Dissemination From a Community Health Needs Assessment
Regardless of the method one chooses to use in order to disseminate findings from a needs assessment, the information reported needs to be adapted to the target audience. Because a needs assessment targets the community in which data are collected, it is important to consider how information from the assessment is disseminated and who is involved in the information dissemination. You also need to recognize that modifications might be necessary based on the target audience and the results of the community health needs assessment.
For this Assignment, review the information dissemination strategies in this week’s resources. Then, consider different types of information from a community health needs assessment that have to be disseminated. In addition, determine the audience who will receive the disseminated information, and analyze the different information dissemination strategies based on the types of information you deem to be important to the target community. Also, consider any modifications that might be necessary depending on the audience. Finally, select a case study from this week’s resources and analyze the case from a community health needs perspective.
Assignment (2–3 pages)
Address the following in context of the case study you have selected:
Describe the information that you obtained from your analysis of the case study and that you would disseminate.
Explain who the intended audience will be and how they may use of the information.
Explain what, if any, information should not be disseminated to the audience. Justify your rationale.

Exploring Health Education Final Project component 4 week 8

Final Project Component 4
Determining which evidence-based and appropriate strategies and methodologies that are best suited to your health education program requires extensive research. The health educator will need to consider the health issue of interest, the target population, as well as other factors that may influence the effectiveness and success of a health education program. Other factors such as resource availability, socio-demographics, and environmental concerns will help to inform how a health education program will ensure the promotion of health and well-being. Essentially, the strategies and methodologies outline how health educators will enact health promotion through the delivery of their health education program.
Consider the scenario:
Marcia is a health educator who has just finished drafting a proposal for a new health education program for the prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s) in her community. She has identified the main health issue she would like to address, developed a proposed budget and personnel worksheet, and has also outlined her proposed framework for cultivating individual motivation and behavior modification. Although Marcia feels that her proposal is robust in terms of meriting approval, she is wondering if it would be beneficial to outline her strategies or methodologies to make her program work. For example, would her program benefit from a group participation approach similar to a roundtable discussion or would her program be best delivered as a workshop? Should she invite speakers from both outside and inside the community to relay information as it applies to potential health services or might that be too much for her proposed program? What curriculum (new or existing) could be included in her program?
For this Assignment, review the Point Mar Case Study provided in this week’s Learning Resources. With your health education program from Week 6 in mind, research evidence-based and appropriate health education strategies/methodologies that you would implement. Reflect on how the evidence-based support contributes to the effectiveness of the strategies and/or methodologies that you will select.
Note: In grading this Assignment, your Instructor uses the Final Project Components Rubric, located in the Course Information area. Review the Rubric prior to completing your Assignment.
The Assignment (2 pages)
Explain which evidence-based and appropriate health education strategies/methodologies you would select for your health education program and why. Be sure to include peer-reviewed journal articles that establish the evidence-based research for your health education strategies and/or methodologies that you select.
Explain how the role of the health educator may vary based on the strategies/methodologies you selected.

Disability

Short summery of the topic in the article:
disability advocates argue that everyone has an equal right to life. Only a disabled person, they claim, is in a reasonable position to judge whether a life with a serious disability such as quadriplegia is as good as a life without it. However, Singer takes the contrary position, viz. that if a life with quadriplegia is as good as life without it, there is no health benefit to be gained by curing it (a position with which disability advocates will obviously reject as sophistry and illusion).

It gives the following example of how a QALY can be used to calculate the benefit of life-value: “If we return to the hypothetical assumption that a year with quadriplegia is valued at only half as much as a year without it, then a treatment that extends the lives of people without disabilities will be seen as providing twice the value of one that extends, for a similar period, the lives of quadriplegics.” In short, the QALY, according to Singer, tells us “to do what brings about the greatest health benefit, irrespective of where that benefit falls.”

QUESTIONS to be answered:

Singer seems to suggest or imply that the life year of a severely disabled person might be worth much less than that of a person without a disability.

1- Is Singer’s way of evaluating and measuring the value of a human life — based upon the utilitarian idea of a QALY — ethically justifiable?
2- Do you think this approach discriminates against persons with disabilities?
3- Do you agree or disagree with Singer’s idea mentioned above?
State the reasons why you agree or disagree.
4- If you agree, what implications does Singer’s position have for the rest of us?

ADVANCED COUNSELING

After a close reading of at least 4 therapies, analyze the differences among them. For example, you might compare and contrast Psychoanalytic and Behavior therapies and 2 others, citing any similarities and differences. In addition, explain how each therapy would be applied to a client’s problem(s).
PLEASE DO NOT SIMPLY REPEAT WHAT IS IN THE BOOK, BUT ANALYZE HOW EACH THERAPY IS USED IN REAL-LIFE APPLICATIONS. YOU WILL NEED TO GO BEYOND THE BOOK AND USE SCHOLARLY SOURCES AS FOUND IN ONLINE LIBRARY. You may compose a written analysis

Epidemiology: Design a cohort study

Your task is to design a cohort study that allows for further exploration of the social determinates of health that places an individual or community at risk for your selected health problem (from Assessment One) which was suicide in Australia. You need to be specific with age group. For example you may choose to write between 12 to 25 years old who committee suicide (adolescents). Do not write in general, you must be specific. You need to choose particular age group, which is committing suicide more than others and must be from Australia.

The design needs to be in enough detail for someone else to understand how to conduct the study and is to focus on social determinates of health.

1. In the introduction you must briefly describe:
a. Social epidemiology and how it differs from traditional (classical) epidemiology, and
b. Discuss the social determinants of health associated with suicide in young people aged between 14 to 22 years old.
2. Select one or more of the social determinates that are risk factors to developing the health problem and develop a cohort study to investigate this relationship.
3. This cohort study must include the 9 main steps for writing a study protocol as outlined (by dot points) in Bonita, Beaglehole, and Kjellström (2006, p. 182:
http://whqlibdoc.who.int/publications/2006/9241547073_eng.pdf). Also read Chapter 7 in
Merrill (2013) for further information.

Here is a link with a video from my teacher of how this essay should be written. Please listen the instruction before you start writing the essay: https://youtu.be/oSDBs4RIBfE

This will guide you: Introduction:
Comment 1: Hi this does not introduce the assignment – what is the assignment about? What are you going to discuss? To which study are you referring? Always assume the reader does not know the topic.
Cohort studies:
Comment 2: Each sentence must make sense in itself – the word ‘they’ does not indicate to what you are referring. What is a cohort?
Commjent 3: It would be better to clearly describe what a cohort study is before plying this knowledge to a specific example. This paragraph is unclear – who are ‘they’?

Disadvantages of cohort studies
Comment 4: Needs some explanations- why?
Social Epidemiology versus Classical epidemiology
Comments 5: always acknowledge your source of information.
Comment 6: Some examples would be good in this section, plus explanations – you make statements in this assignment without any explanations.

Adolescents and the Social Determinants
Comment 7: I think this section is too long – too much detail for social determinants. This section is worth 10 marks, the demonstration of your knowledge 10 marks and the cohort study 25.

The target population, Selection Criteria and the stakeholders of what?

Comment 8: You have not indicated that you will undertake a cohort study. It needs to be clear what you are doing, why, and how.
Comment 9: Realistically I am not sure how you are going to prevent the adolescents being in such a family or environment or ‘cure’ their poverty.

Comment 10: Unclear- do you mean secondary schools?

Comment 11: You need more details – how old are the adolescents? Remember a lot will leave school at 16y. Will they be all schools or a random selection? How many participants? More details needed.

Impacts of Social, Economic Status on Health
Comment 12: Please do not use broad sweeping statements without any evidence. Who says the adolescents are not respected are not treated equally? Some of your statements are quite emotive, judgmental and could cause offence to adolescents and youth workers. This was also an issue with your first assignment – it is not academic writing doing this – the writing should be objective and non-judgmental.
Comment 13: You need to give rationales for the study design eg the selection, process and target population. The justification for the study should be earlier. In your introduction to why you are doing the study.
The budget and timelines
Comment 14: Rationale for the budget
You have not answered the question in parts. The cohort study needs answering. See the marking criteria and learning guide – you were to use the 9 steps by Bonita et al. Details need to be given so that someone else can follow and do the study. Rationales relate to the details of your cohort study plan and not the social issues.

Application: Gastrointestinal Tract: Disorders of Motility

Jamie is a 3-month-old female who presents with her mother for evaluation of “throwing up.” Mom reports that Jamie has been throwing up pretty much all the time since she was born. Jamie does not seem to be sick. In fact, she drinks her formula vigorously and often acts hungry. Jamie has normal soft brown bowel movements every day and, overall, seems like a happy and contented baby. She smiles readily and does not cry often. Other than the fact that she often throws up after drinking a bottle, she seems to be a very healthy, happy infant. A more precise history suggests that Jamie does not exactly throw up—she does not heave or act unwell—but rather it just seems that almost every time she drinks a bottle she regurgitates a milky substance. Mom thought that she might be allergic to her formula and switched her to a hypoallergenic formula. It didn’t appear to help at all, and now Mom is very concerned.

Cases like these are not uncommon. The mother was concerned and thinking her daughter may have an allergy; she changed to a different formula. However, sometimes babies have immature GI tracts that can lead to physiology reflux as they adapt to normal life outside the uterus. Parents often do not consider this possibility, prompting them to change formulas rather than seeking medical care. As in the case study above, GI alterations can often be difficult to identify because many cause similar symptoms. This same issue also arises with adults—adults may present with symptoms that have various potential causes. When evaluating patients, it is important for the advanced practice nurse to know the types of questions he or she needs to ask to obtain the appropriate information for diagnosis. For this reason, you must have an understanding of common GI disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease (PUD), and gastritis.

To prepare:

Review this week’s media presentation on the gastrointestinal system.
Review Chapter 33 in the Huether and McCance text. Identify the normal pathophysiology of gastric acid stimulation and production.
Review Chapter 35 in the Huether and McCance text. Consider the pathophysiology of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcer disease (PUD), and gastritis. Think about how these disorders are similar and different.
Select a patient factor different from the one you selected in this week’s Discussion: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Consider how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of GERD, PUD, and gastritis. Reflect on how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment of these disorders for a patient based on this factor.
Review the “Mind Maps—Dementia, Endocarditis, and Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)” media in the Week 2 Learning Resources. Use the examples in the media as a guide to construct a mind map for gastritis. Consider the epidemiology and clinical presentation of gastritis.

To complete:

Write a 3-page paper that addresses the following:

Describe the normal pathophysiology of gastric acid stimulation and production. Explain the changes that occur to gastric acid stimulation and production with GERD, PUD, and gastritis disorders.
Explain how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of GERD, PUD, and gastritis. Describe how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment of these disorders for a patient based on the factor you selected.
Construct a mind map for gastritis. Include the epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical presentation, as well as the diagnosis and treatment you explained in your paper.

This Assignment is due by Day 7 of Week 8.

Substance Use Prevention

Substance Use Prevention

Create a discussion regarding the prevention of substance use among youth. Include the following:

• Analyze risk and protective factors that influence this behavior.

• Develop a plan that incorporates various cessation and prevention strategies.

1. Find your own research on programs that are geared toward youth.

2. Discuss efficacy rates and factors that may improve them.

• Assess the ethical and legal factors associated with working with youth who have substance-use issues. Utilize your own state laws in your discussion (for example, disclosure to parent or guardian).

• Provide validation and support for assertions by including relevant examples and supporting evidence.

Ultrasound and Gestatioanl Diabetes

The outline of final project
1. Introduction
2. The background of global emissions and attention drawn to it by establishment of millennium development goals
3. The attributions and attempts of Australian government to curb carbon and greenhouse emissions to prevent climate changes that alter performance in horticulture
4. Policies formulated towards depletions in horticultural performance
5. Importance of the policies based on trade, climate changes and trends, and impacts of the policies on performance of the sector

Feedback from Lecturer:
Shorten the intro/background part so that it is not too long. The first paragrapth about basic info about horticulture is not important at all except for the last two sentences
– Except for this introduction, none of the key issues required in the project draft is addressed. You need to discuss:
– How CC impacts your business: See what happens when the world becomes hotter, more extreme events (droughts, heatwaves, storms, floods, haistone, sea level rise, ocean acidification ect), changing in weather pattern (rainfall, sunlight, cloud formation ect), and the easier spread of infectious diseases/pest physically affect your affect your production capacity and distribution capacity as well as workers’ health in the sector. Note that workers in this sector has to work long hour under the sun.
– C tax impacts: Whether your industry/firm is subject to tax or not. Note that not all industries are subject to tax and not all firms are, only when they reach a certain level of CO2 that they will. Does the tax indirectly affect the firm, for example through the higher price of inputs (if inputs are subject to tax) or changes in demand (due to a substitute/complement products being taxed or subsidized). If you are taxed, are you eligible for any of the government’s “industry assistance” programs?
– DAP impacts: How your firm/industry benefit from DAP? Is it indirectly affected if one of its substitute/complement product benefit from DAP?
– What opportunities/threads/adaptation strategies are for the firm/industry. At a bare minimum, you have to look at the 8 types of risks, different opportunities and types of adatation (Module 3) and relate them to your business
