Smoking and its Effects on Lung Mechanics

You will need to write about this topic: Smoking and its Effects on Lung Mechanicsand Relate the topic fore example to how respiratory

system work and how the exchange of gases could be affected by smoking and here are different topics you can relate to:

• Cardiac Output and Venous Return
• Cardiovascular System – Blood
• Cardiac Action Potential
• Mechanics of Breathing
• Lung Volume and Airway Resistance
• Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide Transport

Requirements:

1. Topics must all be related to physiology and what we have learned thus far in some way. This would mean taking a topic and

relating it to changes in ion currents, force production, diffusion, or energetics.
2. Papers are 4 pages in length. This is no easy task. Its actually harder to write short papers than long ones. The format should

conform to this –
a. Background and Significance
i. Describe the problem at hand. How does it impact society? What relevance does it have to physiology? What relevance does it have

to biomedical engineering? And most important of all – WHY DO I CARE?
b. This is section where you setup your argument. For example, “Muscle trauma from a car accident, laceration, gunshot, or tumor

resection is one of the leading causes of injury in the United States, affecting one person every three minutes and is estimated to cost

$671 billion per year. Injury to skeletal muscle can damage muscle fibers beyond repair, resulting in volumetric muscle loss (VML) and

functional deficits. Despite the prevalence of traumatic muscle injuries, there are still no effective treatments.”
i. This statement catches the readers eye and draws them in. The argument is that no treatments exist and the reader’s expectation is

that I will show them a new treatment.

c. Past research related to this topic
i. In this section of the paper, you will need to break down the paper into subtopics. Pick a list of 3 topics that you think or feel

are the most applicable and have the highest impact on patients and/or society. Again focus the papers relationship to physiology.
ii. Provide 1-3 paragraphs about each of those topics. Be sure to address current and past research (search from 1950s-present). Cite

articles where needed. Do your research on PubMed or Web of Science. DO NOT USE WIKIPEDIA OR A WEBSITE AS A CITATION. Those are not peer

reviewed journals and thus are not scrutinized by the scientific community. Lastly, do not plagiarize – put it in your own words.
iii. Pictures can’t be used.
3.
a. Conclusion
i. Develop an overall conclusion about the different topics, where the research has been and where it is now going.

Communism

Communism

Define communism, examine its origins, spread, and impact. Assess the importance of communism to the history of the world from 1450 to present day.

Back everything by facts from research. The required outside sources must be journal articles and books. Three of those sources are required. A fact or

idea used requires a footnote in the Turabian style of citation with the appropriate page number. This includes when there is quoting or paraphrasing.

Develop a business plan

Develop a business plan
GuidelinesFor Developing a Business Plan

General Guidelines
Business plans are business communications rather than an academic paper. The purpose of such communications is to provide the basis for business

decisions. The reward here is for being concise and precise. This is not the place to show all that you have learned in your MBA program. Use what

you have learned to choose the most critical information to include. The more clearly the business plan can be written, the more effective they will

be.

Business plans are used to acquire capital and to guide the operation. For these reasons, keys to a successful plan are in substantiating the

viability of the venture. A business plan includes a clear statement of the nature of a business venture, the business opportunity, the steps to be

taken to capitalize on the opportunity, and the financial requirements. Research in this option is primarily in quantifying the opportunity and the

competitive situation. When used to acquire capital, the business plan must create a clear, coherent, persuasive argument on behalf of the business.

When used to guide the operation, the plan must also be clear and coherent as it provides specific guidance for the business.

The Business Plan format provides an opportunity for students to develop an actual, workable business plan for a new business or existing company.

Guidelines for the Project

A business plan is not a thesis and therefore does not involve a thesis-type literature review. However, a business plan does require research. At a

minimum, marketing research is needed in order to quantify the opportunity which will include determining the total demand, the unmet demand, how

competitors are or could satisfy this demand, how your offering is to be distinctive in this market, and your reasonable sales projections at your

proposed selling prices.

Marketing research for an existing product in a new market involves an analysis of demographics and customer profiles in markets where the product is

currently being sold successfully, and the comparison of such demographics and customer profiles to those of the proposed new market. The proposal

should cite the specific sources from which such data are obtainable.

One of the most common problems with students’ business plans is the lack of connection between the market demand and the financial statements. There

often is little or no foundation for the projected revenue figures cited, including initial sales and sales growth. Make sure this connection is

crystal clear since failure to accomplish this task will result in a project that is unsatisfactory.

Content and Organization of the Business Plan Project

Title Page
The title page is not numbered.

Table of Contents
This table is also numbered with lower case Roman numerals.

Executive Summary
The purpose of an Executive Summary is to write a brief description of your plan that allows the reader to gain the essence of the entire plan in less

than two pages. It is intended to give a busy executive the key information and lead the reader to the sections that will answer the executive’s

primary questions. It is not an introduction to the plan, as you may have written in typical papers. This Executive Summary, although positioned

first in the project, should actually be written last. In this way you know what you are summarizing. Writing it earlier will cause it to tend

towards a traditional introduction.

This section begins the Arabic numbering of pages, beginning with “1.”

References
This section continues with the Arabic numbering of pages. Only sources of information that have actually been cited in the project are included here.

Appendices
The appendices continued with the Arabic numbering of pages from the previous section. The actual titling of the appendices receives letter

designations, rather than numbers. Therefore, you would have Appendix A, Appendix B, not Appendix 1, or Appendix 2.

This section includes information that is too detailed to be included in its entirety in the body of the project. This would include raw data, sample

questionnaires, and detailed computations. This section would also include information that is referred to but is not essential to the project, such

as relevant policies, laws, forms, pamphlets, sample letters sent to organizations and subjects, or subject consent forms.

Communications

Communications
A number of news sources (Fox News, MSNBC, online news sources, etc.) offer news coverage with an overt partisan slant as a strategy to attract viewers

in a competitive market. How does this affect political communication for politicians and news consumers?

International Business Marketing

International Business Marketing
1 -Budgeting & Financial Management
Indianapolis Pharmaceuticals Company (IPC) recently revised its performance evaluation system. The company identified four major goals and several

objectives required to meet each goal. Charles Merrill, controller of IPC suggested that a balanced scorecard be used to report on progress toward meeting

the objectives. At a recent meeting, he told the managers of IPC that listing the objectives was only the first step in installing a new performance

measurement system. Each objective has to be accompanied by one or more measures to monitor progress toward achieving the objectives. He asked the help of

the managers in identifying appropriate measures.
The goals and objectives determined by the top management of IPC are
1) Maintain strong financial health.
2) Provide excellent services to customers.
3) Be among the industry leaders in product and process innovations.
4) Develop and maintain efficient and state-of-the-art production processes.
Required: Prepare a report and include the measures of performance (in detail) they should take for each of the objectives of IPC.
2 – Strategic Marketing & New Products Management
Following the success of its bath and bodyline for children, Johnson & Johnson is about to launch a new line of body and bath products for adults. Explain

in detail the marketing strategy the company will implement to promote this new line.
3- Services, Retail & International Marketing
• Explain in detail the plan and process Johnson & Johnson will put in place for selling these goods to consumers.
• What are the steps Johnson & Johnson has to take to launch this line internationally?
• In what the marketing of services differs from the marketing of products? Explain in detail and give examples.
4-Advertising & Communication
Launch an advertising and communication campaign to market the Johnson & Johnson new line in the Gulf area. Discuss and detail the process, the various

means and the specifics of such a campaign in the Gulf region.
Final Project
Kindly check the attached document regarding the project’s requirements.

Group Decision Making Project black-and-white version of "12 Angry Men."

Group Decision Making Project black-and-white version of “12 Angry Men.”

Watch the original 1957, black-and-white version of “12 Angry Men.” Watch for indications of the six
steps of the Group Problem-solving Process and leadership. Write a short essay addressing what occurred as the jury processed through each of the six steps. Keep in mind
that the jury was a group before they walked into the jury room and some of the steps may have occurred
in the courtroom. In addition, address the style and the effectiveness of the characters identified as
leaders.

The Problem-Solving Sequence involves the following six steps:
Define and Analyze the Problem: at times the problem may be clearly specified but at other times the
problem may be vague and the group will need to define it clearly. It is necessary to limit the
problem to a manageable area instead of a vague concept. Stating the problem as an open-ended
question rather than a statement allows for greater exploration and creativity.

Establish Criteria for Evaluating Solutions: Decide how solutions will be evaluated before proposing
them

Identify Possible Solutions: brainstorm as many solutions as possible, focus on quantity rather than
quality

Evaluate Solutions: use the previously established criteria to evaluate each solution

Select the Best Solution(s): based on the results of the evaluation process, choose the best solution.
Groups choose solutions in three methods:

Authority: the leader of the group (or organization) makes the decision after listening to
the group’s suggestions. This is usually the most efficient manner and has the
advantage that the more experienced members ultimately make the decision,
however other individual members often feel somewhat ‘left out’ and do not
participate or support the decision enthusiastically.

Majority Rule: decision is reached by vote. Also efficient however the discussion may
be limited by calling for a vote once a majority of the members seem to be in
agreement. Also the individuals on the minority of the vote often feel somewhat
‘left out’ and do not participate or support the decision enthusiastically.

Consensus: all members of the group voiced their opinion, and a solution is synthesized
that the group as a whole agrees on. While not as efficient as the other two
methods, this method produces a high degree of enthusiasm and support for the
decision since everyone takes ownership.

Test the Selected Solution(s): analyze the effectiveness of the chosen solution

Strategies for Online Success

Strategies for Online Success

While you may be computer savvy and feel comfortable online, completing your courses and an entire degree program online with no physical classroom or

face-to-face contact presents its own challenges. Skills that are critical to online learning success include an ability to plan and manage time,

particularly since there is no structured “class time;” the capability to communicate clearly and effectively online where there is no nonverbal or

visual feedback; and the capacity to use technology effectively. This Discussion provides you with an opportunity to think about your skills in the

above areas, to explore strategies for successful online learning, and to share some of those strategies with, and gain strategies from, others in the

course.

With these thoughts in mind:

Post a description of at least one strategy for each of the following key areas related to online success: planning, time management, effective

communication, and effective use of technology. Explain how/why you think each will contribute to your success as an online learner.
