Topic: Foreign Dierect Investment in China
References to use theories from Globalisation 2nd Edition Complied y Dr. Brendan Boyle text book and internet sources of 8 or more references as well. Can you please write the paper about foreign direct investment in China.
As this is a relatively short assignment, it does not need an executive summary (normally only for assignments 2500 words +). What it does need is a good short formal introduction outlining the key contents of the body of the report, a body and then a conclusion highlighting the key points in the body. In a nutshell, the intro tells the reader what they are going to read, the body tells them the details and the conclusion reminds the reader of the key points. As for the body, you should include a brief par defining what the Political Economy is and why we might analyse a country through the lens of the Political Economy. Then several pars discussing the economic, political and legal aspects of your chosen country. You should follow this with a par discussing how the three aspects of the political economy are interrelated and then a par discussing the attractiveness or otherwise of your chosen country for FDI – followed by your brief conclusion.
Topic: Gender Role Attitudes among US Muslims: Exploring the Roles of Religiosity, SES, and Acculturation
Here is a brief for the topic :
Gender Role Attitudes among US Muslims: Exploring the Roles of Religiosity, SES, and Acculturation
Although some observers have argued that the Islamic religion supports the subordination of women, research shows that this is very complicated issue, and that women’s roles vary greatly across Muslim societies. Few if any studies have explored this topic among Muslims in the US. This project uses data from a recent Pew survey of Muslims in the US to examine patterns of gender role attitudes (e.g., women’s labor force participation, the role of women in politics, and the role of women within mosque activities). In addition, this research will investigate the role of religiosity, socioeconomic status (i.e., education, income), and acculturation (i.e., linguistic assimilation and embeddedness within non-Muslim social networks and mainstream cultural consumption) as correlates of gender role attitudes among Muslims in the US.
and here is a copy from my professor email includes the orders that should follow :
I have given some thought to your independent study project on religion and gender role attitudes among Muslim Americans and have the following suggestions:
1. Read the paper by Dr. Acevedo and his colleagues, on sectarian membership and gender, which should contain useful information, as well as relevant citations to previous studies. Then read previous studies to which they refer in their review of the literature in this field.
2. Look for the work of Nancy Davis and Robert Robinson (a husband-wife team who research together), in the American Sociological Review, on gender roles in various Muslim societies, and the societal factors that condition those changes. As an aside (it is not critical, but …) you may wish to examine the work of Mounira Charrad (UT-Austin), who is from Morocco or Tunisia, and has written important work on governmental and societal factors that shape gender policies in Muslim societies.
3. Review our paper (which I sent you on religion and gender ideologies among Latinos, currently being revised for the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion). Although the study population is obviously different from yours, this (and the works by Kane and Davis and Greenberg, which we cite) refer to some of the major theoretical works on gender ideologies and gender role attitudes produced in western societies.
Then I suggest you think about your papers (the independent study, and the thesis) in the following general way, i.e., according to this logic:
2. explain that much of the work has been conducted in the US and other western societies (which are also Judeo-Christian in cultural orientation)
3. there are few works on Muslim societies and/or on Muslim populations in the West (identify and briefly discuss any exceptions that you find).
4. briefly explain why this is a problem, (a) why it is important to study Muslims (e.g., rapidly growing world religion, etc.) and (b) why the findings might be interesting or distinctive for Muslims
5. then indicate how the rest of the paper will be organized, i.e., what sections the reader can expect to see, and in what order they will appear.
Next, develop the following sections:
1. religion and gender role ideologies in general (theory and empirical research), focusing on theory and research in the developed West, since that is where much of the social science work has been produced
2. what is it about religion (e.g., specific religious groups or beliefs) that seems to lead people to embrace traditional views of women’s roles?
3. discuss any works on Muslims in West or Muslim societies elsewhere, and explain their findings, esp. regarding the role of religion …
4. elaborate (more than in the introduction) on why the connections between religion and gender ideologies might be distinctive among Muslims –e.g., what does the Koran say? Hadith? etc.?
5. THINK ABOUT: should we expect for these patterns of religious effects on gender ideologies might differ among Muslims from different educational backgrounds, among those from different countries or regions (vs. native-born American Muslims), among Muslim women vs. men, among older vs. younger Muslims? If there are reasons to expect such subgroup differences, you/we should think about how.
After this will come the data analyses, but this should be done later …
Hope this organizational template is helpful. Best, CE

Topic: Learning and Assessment Position Paper
SUBJECT AREA – SECONDARY ENGLISH.
AUSTRALIAN CURRICULUM
(Western Australia where applicable)
UK spelling
== Note from the Unit Co-ordinator ==
In your journals you explored readings and research relating to the teaching of secondary English. Many of you were able to apply the ideas suggested in the readings and research to your teaching; a number of you were able to identify challenges, contradictions, and opportunities that exist in the secondary English teaching “space”. Your readings, in other words, have helped you to develop a broad awareness of many issues that secondary English teachers frequently encounter and address.
Your previous (and concurrent) studies also provide a rich and complementary wealth of ideas and information that have informed your understandings about secondary English education and teaching. So, what is it that strikes you about teaching secondary school English?
Remember the position paper asks exactly for that – a position. This suggests that there needs to be a reason or basis for the position.
Here is an example of a line of thinking that might inform a paper’s structure:
a) Australian Curriculum is big on the notion of entitlement
b) this means all students should be able to engage in meaningful learning
c) in secondary English, this means that students can …
d) research and data suggests this isn’t happening for all students, and here’s why (explain)
e) which gives rise to this challenge/issue/opportunity
f) here’s what the research suggests could address this challenge/issue/opportunity
This is NOT an essay plan. You will need to develop this further, of course, to develop a plan. What is shown above is just an overview to help you to get thinking; and to be aware that your paper needs to follow a logical process of argument. (You would, for instance, present your thesis at the start of your paper, whereas in the process example above, the thesis (or position) is hinted at point e).)
As I have stated elsewhere, your position paper needs to be a formally produced piece of writing that displays all elements of scholarly writing. Please do not confuse this with verbose, highly derivative and unnecessarily complex writing. Clear writing reflects clear thinking, and it is the clarity of your thinking (your “position”) that is being assessed in the position paper. This includes your written expression, so please check and proofread your work very carefully before handing it in for marking.

Assessment two: due the week commencing 20 October 2014.
Learning Area Position Paper (2500 words)
Reflect on your learning in the course and prepare a Position Paper summarising the nature, goals, and value of your chosen Learning Area, and setting out your developing philosophy. Consider the nature of the discipline, the theories and philosophies that have shaped it, how current curricula frame the subject, and your own provisional position on the goals, purposes, content, and strategies entailed in the Learning Area.
Topic: Data Envelopment Analysis
Data Envelopment Analysis Coursework
“The module will be assessed 100% by an individual coursework, in which the students will analyse a case study and present their findings in a report.”
This document specifies the requirements you should follow in selecting an appropriate case study and how you should report your findings.
1 Selecting a Case Study
If you are wishing to obtain a mark of 60%+ (ie a first or 2i) you should select your own case study. However if your aspirations are lower and you are happy with a mark of 40% to 60% you are advised to consider the example case study.
If selecting your own case study, a self assessment task has been created where you can post the details about the case study you have are thinking of selecting.
The intention of this task is to allow you to receive feedback on the viability of your proposed case study and will enable me to provide advice as to issues you may need to consider and alternative sources of data.
In selecting a Case study you should consider the following:
1. Availability of suitable data
The data should be publicly available (ideally in electronic form) and ideally should have comparable information for more than one year. Data can come from multiple sources (see examples above). There will need to be data on both the resources used (inputs such as Number and/or cost of staff) and successful production (outputs for example revenue and or number of products sold)
2. Sufficient decision making units for comparisons
What constitutes a sufficient number will depend on the number of inputs and outputs in the DEA models you are using. For the purposes of the coursework you may have a small number of Decision Making Units (DMUs) as long as you consider their performance over several time periods (eg, 15-25 DMUs with 5 to10 years of annual data) or a larger dataset over a shorter period (eg 200 DMUs over two years of annual data). You should have more than one year’s data.
3. Personal interest
You will be spending a considerable amount of time analyzing the data and writing up your report so pick an area that interests you!
4. Ability to demonstrate understanding of the whole DEA module
Pick something which is quite rich in alternative data, so that you can compare alternative models of performance; perhaps where league tables or some other measure of performance is already used so you can compare you results with these. Having data for (mostly) the same DMUs over several years allows you to look at changes over time. You should consider some other groupings of the DMUs (say rural or urban, private or public ownership)
So do not jump to make a selection too quickly, first do some research to find out what data might be available. But also do not spend all your time choosing, you are best making your choice and sticking too it as long as data is available.
You are best writing the report as you go along, that way you can use the surgery sessions to get feedback on your progress. Some tips on where to start are available in blackboard.
There is also a second self and peer assessment task to ensure you have located some appropriate data and have looked at some simple DEA models and obtained feedback to ensure you are on the right track.
2 The Form and Content of the Report
The report that you hand in should be a report on the efficiency of the operations of your case study organization(s) for one of its stakeholders. You should not assume that the stakeholder understands the Data Envelopment Analysis technique and so will need to explain it to the reader (but should include technical details in an appendix). The following is intended as a possible outline for your report it also gives a guideline as to the number of words expected, some variation from this guideline is expected depending on your actual case study.
1. General introduction (250-750 words).
Here you introduce the operations you are studying and what good performance might mean for them. If there is already a method of performance measurement used you should discuss it.
2. Introduction to the Data Envelopment Analysis technique (500-1500 words).

Topic: Project Nim Film
Project Nim Essay
Directions: This should not be a difficult essay. Prior to taking this class, you should have mastered the five paragraph essay. If you have not mastered it already or would like a review, simply Google “5 paragraph essay” and you will get plenty of hits. The Purdue Writing Center website is certainly credible.
This paper, then, is a five paragraph essay. It is a super important concept because it is the foundation of most essay writing. We will follow this format when we write our research paper, though your paper will be longer than five paragraphs. The concept will remain the same: intro, body, conclusion, topic sentence, transitions, etc.
This paper, then, is a five paragraph essay. It is a super important concept because it is the foundation of most essay writing. We will follow this format when we write our research paper, though your paper will be longer than five paragraphs. The concept will remain the same: intro, body, conclusion, topic sentence, transitions, etc.
For the Nim essay, you will be allowed to write about ONE of the following prompts regarding things that were said or implied during the film. Do you agree or disagree:
1) “You can’t give human nurturing to an animal that can kill you.”
3) “If you had dark places in your heart, Nim would know and wouldn’t like you.”
4) “You can’t test animals and have it be humane.”
5) A sign that read: “Cleveland Armory to the rescue. Here my troubles are over.”
Some of you missed parts of the film. You can order it Amazon.com if you’d like, and you can certainly find a lot of the scenes on Youtube. You might be able to Project Nim elsewhere on the Internet.
If you need a quick reference to some of the names, you might find the following link useful:

Points Breakdown:
Structure: Was your essay five paragraphs? Did it have an introduction, three body paragraphs and a conclusion? Did it have solid topic sentences? Did it have transitions?
Paragraph Development: Were paragraphs sufficient developed? Was each paragraph at least 8 sentences long? Did it have multiple references from the text or did student just wing it based on common sense—don’t do this; refer to the text.
Persuasive Argument: Did essay take a clear stand and argue their position?
Techniques: Did student use the techniques that were discussed from They Say, I Say?
Note: I had a few students who wanted to get started on this essay over break. This is subject to some slight changes and clarifications. For examples, I need to figure out how many points and which techniques I’m expecting in your essay. I will figure that out later. We will go over this rubric in class on Monday.
I am submitting this to you without proofreading. I will hand you a copy on Monday and it will be proofread and final.
Cheers!
