Topic: CASE WRITING & COMMENTARY ASSESSMENT AND INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLANS FOR AN INDIVIDUAL CHILD
You are to select a child (2-5 years) as the focus of a case study and ILP. You are to document personal, cultural & social conditions that make up the child‘s learning environment.
Assessment Criteria;
Age and cultural background of the child and his or her family
Child’s learning style and interests
Child’s learning strengths
Curriculum and pedagogical issues that form the child’s learning environment
Guidelines, procedures and/or resources currently used to ensure that the curriculum planning for the children is inclusive of all their learning needs.
Guidelines, procedures and/or resources and strategies suggested to ensure that the curriculum planning for the children inclusively addresses of all their learning needs.
You are to document the children’s learning journey ensuring that observations are linked to the above points. You may use the observation method most familiar to you, such as running records, anecdotal records or learning stories. Photos can be included but must have comments/ date. (Case)
Your observations then need to be interpreted in a thoughtful, professional manner, making suggestions for strategies and resources for enhancing the child’s learning environment.
(Commentary)
Take the information gained from the case and commentary and use it to develop an individual learning plan for each of the children. The plans must link to the information collected from your case and commentary and link to your Teaching Philosophy.
Your work should include a minimum of three appropriate references from scholarly sources -journals, articles or text (in addition to VEYLDF and EYLDF).
