1 Critical Analysis of Readings
Aims:
1. For students to have a deep understanding of several areas in the field of language learning alongside their more
general understanding of all of the areas.
2. For students to be able to critically analyse the works of several key figures in the field and establish points of
difference and similarity.
Procedure:
1.Collect articles/chapters/works on the topic of language learning or acquisition written by at least 3 key researchers who
share similar interests and write in related fields. For example:
l Chomsky
l Pinker
l Halliday
l Pit Corder
l Selinker
l Schumann
l Schmidt
l Swain
l Vygotsky
l Long
**This list is not exhaustive. You may choose to review another three key researchers. Make sure that the work of
the researchers you choose links together in some way whether that be in a contrasting way or a complementing
and extending way.
2.Summarise what each author has to say and how each has added to debates and theories on language learning/acquisition
(both first and/or second).
3. Draw links between what each author is saying showing points of difference and contrast in their beliefs and theories.
4. Summarise works which have critiqued the work of any of the three researchers you have described both in the past and more recently.

Review of Performance Measurements Methods to Achieve Better Time-Certainty Project Delivery.

the dissertation proposal and my draft dissertation which i have written only 3500 about it ( literature review + methodology). My dissertation is about the performance measurement in the construction companies and how the lack of such measurements is effecting the construction industry in saudi arabia and causing delays in the completion of the public projects, and most if not all the public projects is vital for the development of the country and the community this delay is causing economical and social impacts. I have made two questionnaire to send one for the project managers and the other to the clients/ consultants on order to evaluate and investigate what sort of techniques they are using and what is the most important to them out of the indicators that is provided in the questionnaire (i sent it and got no answers). the idea of the questionnaire is to see where the contractor see themselves and where the clients think they really are in terms of the three main indicators in the construction industry (time, cost and quality). unfortunately i have not got the respond rate that i hoped for so now i need a help to finish my dissertation specially that my supervisor is really expecting good piece of work from me. so you have to fake the result your self saying that only 30% of the contractor rated 1st grade are using Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and internal benchmarking as there is no benchmarking systems in saudi arabia. and grade 2 contractor is way lower than that “you have to give numbers that make sense and look realistic’’ you can have look to what i have done and ask me all the questions you need but please make sure you don’t start unless its all clear and understood and if you need my help let me know.

Preliminary interview

Prepare an interview schedule for an in-depth application with a single individual on a topic related to your research (Psychological interview) . Conduct the interview ( about 10-15 minutes) and prepare a brief summary of your findings (2p). Present your findings in a powerpoint presentation to the class (10 mins max.). Concentrate upon the findings though you need to very briefly explain your subject and the context of the interview.

These article summaries must include: the name of the article, the authors and their affiliations, the publication information, and an explanation of the major hypotheses, research methods, results, and implications of the findings. Summaries also should include a brief explanation of the article selection (that is, why you selected it) and a minimum of two links to textbook and other class material.
