Assessment Brief for coursework 1

The first coursework (worth 20% of the total marks for the module) is an INDIVIDUAL piece of work (maximum 2,000 words) excluding final list of references. Please note there is no plus or minus 10% rule on this module), critically appraising some of the theoretical concepts and techniques introduced in the lectures in weeks 1-7.

Write an essay answering the following question:

Critically evaluate how useful the undertaking of a “strategic position” analysis may be for an organisation? Critically discuss the view that the market/environment should be emphasised more than resources when an organisation is undertaking a “strategic position” analysis.

Word count-The only words that do not countin your essay are the front page (on which you put your srn, name of the module, word count, title of the coursework, my name as module leader) and the end of essay list of references (using Harvard system of referencing).You are NOT allowed to have an appendix. Re the WORD COUNT and other issues you must read the section below entitled “Guidance for completing BOTH coursework’s/key information for the module”. That section gives the regulations for this c/w 1 re the word count (eg issues concerning words/numbers in “diagrams” etc.).

Your work will be marked and graded in accordance with the grading and marking criteria for assignment one (see pages 15, 16, 17 below).
Coursework 1 (electronic copy) should be handed in on 4th December 2015 at 11.00pm (latest time). An identical paper copy (you must attach and fill in the form entitled “Hertfordshire Business School-Assessment Feedback Form”. Do not fill in your name but do put your SRN, the name of the module, the title of the coursework (“coursework 1”), the date and my name on it) must be handed in at the coursework point on the bottom floor of the Business School (opposite M036) on the 5th December (11am latest hand in time). Closer to the hand in date precise details will be given if there will be a special box provided for this module or whether or not you put the paper copy in a generic box.

As regards this coursework 1, do note you must not copy anyone else’s work. You must not work with anyone else while preparing your assignments and you must not allow other students to read or have an electronic copy of your work.

Persuing a Masters in Nursing Education with the path of becoming a Clinical Nurse Educator.

This paper discusses masters level competencies described by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Quality, Safety Education for Nursing (QSEN), and the National League for Nursing (NLN), factors in nursing and healthcare that necessitate achievement of these competencies, the evidence that supports it, and how they relate to your education and career path.

Document design takes careful planning, an understanding of the final audience and how to effectively incorporate page design layout. This week’s assignment asks you to demonstrate your mastery of these three factors by designing a one-page user guide.

Feel free to peruse through the entire site. Then produce a one page layout using the following variables:
1. Find a cameo (headshot) of any adult person who is clearly looking to the right from a true right perspective. Download the image to your hard drive by right clicking on it and saving it to a directory/folder where you can find it. When you layout the manual, think about where the headshot should be positioned? Does the person look into the text or away?

2. Create an 8.5 x 11 quick start guide in Microsoft Word

3. The purpose of the quick start guide is to either show how to start a new Single Lens Reflex (SLR) digital camera, use a new note book computer, or how to successfully shut down a Windows based computer. If the last one is selected explain why it is important.

4. The person in the cameo is a “personal assistant” who will guide the user through the steps. There must be a minimum of 3 steps and no more than 6.

5. You should supplement the device with any royalty free graphics or Microsoft ClipArt. Use any other graphics you deem necessary.

6. Font size must be 14, your choice of font style. Use of bold, underline, coloring, is up to you.

7. Include a fictitious 800 number for further assistance

8. Use any fictitious company, brand, make, model, name you like.

9. Remember this assignment should remain on only one page! Use landscape if you feel it is necessary.

Insert abstract here; it should be no more than one page. Abstract text must be double-spaced with no paragraph breaks. Describe the overall research problem being addressed in the first couple of sentences and indicate why it is important (e.g., who would care if the problem is solved). You can include a general introduction of the issue in the first sentence, but you need to move to a clear statement of the research problem being addressed. Identify the purpose and theoretical foundations, if appropriate, summarize the key research question(s), and briefly describe the overall research design, methods and data analytic procedures. Identify the key results, one or two conclusions, and recommendations that capture the heart of the research. Conclude with a statement on the implications for positive social change. Problem Statement
Educators don’t know if Edgenuity has a positive impact on student achievement (Davis, 2015). The U.S. Department of Education published a report in September 2010 suggesting more research was needed to determine the impact of online education for Kindergarten through Grade 12 students (Jones, 2012). A third of Georgia’s school districts are using blended learning software called Edgenuity, which is a research-based video course curriculum. Edgenuity is used as core curriculum for intervention to recover credits and to prepare for standardized assessments (Edgenuity.com, 2015). Similar to traditional classroom teaching, these students are required to master learning objectives by reading, writing, practicing, exploring, and discussing (Edgenuity.com, 2015). At the research site, which is a Georgia high school, at-risk students are placed in these Edgenuity classes. Some have completed their credit courses using Edgenuity but their Georgia Milestone test scores are low. These students are not in traditional classroom settings; however, they need to pass the Georgia Milestone test. A quantitative design will be used to determine the effectiveness this program has on at-risk students’ standardized test scores versus traditional students’ standardized test scores.
