Topic 3

What are two commonalities and two differences in advanced nurse roles (administrator, educator, and practitioner)? Explain your choice. (Two different references required per response)

Your responses should be substantive, scholarly and reflect your analysis, critical thinking, thoughts and opinions related to the topic. Resources should be used to support your response, should not be an analysis or report of the resource. Citations should be used to identify information from sources. Please refer to the sixth edition of the APA Manual.
May only use peer reviewed sources and web sites from professional organizations in scholarly writings as reference sources. All sources must be recent, within a 5 year time frame or are classic sources.

MANAGEMENT OF QUALITY IN ORGANISATIONS

For an organisation of your choice, write a report to the senior management team outlining the following:
(Please choose one international company)

i. What would a quality service and / or products look like from the point of view of the organisation’s customers?
[25 marks]
ii. Deming, Crosby and others have said that improving quality can save money. Discuss to what extent this applies to the organisation you have chosen.
[25 marks]
iii. Choose one of the enablers of the EFQM Excellence Model. Review the organisation’s performance on this enabler and identify potential areas for improvement.
[25 marks]
iv. Produce a one page summary, summarising your findings and recommendations in parts i. to iii. Include a discussion of any difficulties in implementing your recommendations. [15 marks]

In addition, a maximum of 10 marks will be given for your report format, referencing and presentation .
Notes:

You are expected to make use of relevant models and frameworks in each of parts i. to iii. However you need to include a list of references for anything you refer to in the report which is not written by you. This is important.

The maximum word count should be 2,200 excluding appendices, table of contents, and references.

Task force/committee selection

Submit a response to the Discussion Question (DQ)
Question response length, 500 words, utilizes multiple, supplemental resources to research and support response positions. Student integrates personal and/or professional examples to demonstrate application of principles APA-style
DQ1) Discuss characteristics, roles, and other considerations for task force/committee selection. Identify some “points of failure” in team selection and examine the potential risks or “land mines” for the project at large should the requirements for team selection fall short.

Description of a Typical Empirical Project (at least 1000 words)

Attachments includes four documents, first one is coursework requirement and details, second one is course coverage for reference., third and fourth document is the data for analysis. Please be aware the fourth data only available in Stata software.

Therefore, please send 1000 words coursework to me as requested by Monday night and I also need Stata work document.

More detailed guidelines on how to write an empirical project can be found in a handout I distributed in week 1 (also available on Moodle). What is offered in there is a complete discussion of what an empirical project involves when you may have to undertake one as a student (e.g. for your dissertation) or in your future job. The exercise in this homework is only a mini-project so while it will mimic the structure of a project, it will be shorter.
1. Introduction. Most project reports begin with an introduction that briefly motivates and describes the issue being studied and summarizes the main empirical findings. In sum it identifies the research question you will address in your report. The introduction should be written in simple non-technical language, with statistical jargon kept to a minimum. A reader who is not an expert in the field should be able to read and understand the general issues and findings of the report. [For this exercise, the introduction can be brief-a couple of sentences].
2. Literature Review. This should summarize some related empirical work that others have done in this area. [For this project this section can be fairly brief-using Google Scholar, find several academic papers on the topic you examine in the project and discuss them from a critical angle].
3. (Economic) Theory. If the report is academic in nature and involves a formal theoretical model, then it is often described in this section. For policy reports you may not need to include a formal mathematical model, but this section allows you to describe the economic or institutional issues of your work in more detail. This section can be more technical than the preceding ones, will typically include some mathematics and economics jargon and may refer to literature in the field. In short, you can address this section solely to an audience of experts in your field. You are not required to have this section in your mini-project although its presence would be a bonus.
4. Data. In this section you should introduce your data. Since you have actually been given the data set, you should use this section to show your familiarity with the variables of interest eg. summary statistics, simple graphs of the data, a correlation matrix. Some text providing interpretation of the above should be provided.
5. Motivation for the Econometric Models You Plan on Estimating. In this section you should discuss how you will use the data to investigate your particular economic questions of interest. Which model(s) will you estimate and why? (what is your dependent variable and which are the independent variables?). It builds on the content of the previous 3 sections to identify (with explanation) the model(s) which you will estimate to answer your research question.
6. Empirical Results. This section is typically the heart of any report. At this stage you should describe your empirical findings and discuss how they relate to the economic/business issue(s) under investigation. It should contain both statistical and economic information. By economic information we refer, for example, to coefficient estimates and what these estimates may imply for economic theory. In contrast, statistical information may include: results from
hypothesis tests; a justification for choice of variables in your preferred model; an explanation for deleting insignificant explanatory variables; a discussion of model fitness, diagnostic tests for the preferred regression model (omitted variables, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, functional form-should the dependent variable be in level or should we convert it to logarithm form); etc. Typically, this information will be presented in tables and/or graphs. You should describe what results you found and how these results influenced your choice of a regression to run or what estimation method to use. You should tie in your own results with the empirical and theoretical literature where appropriate (that is, compare your results with those of previous studies) [This is the most important part of the MNGT 573 project]. You can also comment on whether some variables that you regard as relevant for the topic under examination are missing from the dataset provided and you would like to add them.
7. Conclusion. This should briefly summarize the issues addressed in the report, specifically its most important empirical findings.
Presentation
The mini-report should be written in Microsoft Word and should include figures and tables reporting the results of the empirical analysis.

Scenarios!

Scenarios for question B. Choose one scenario if answering option B.

1. A manufacturer of children’s sleepwear treated its stock with the flame
retardant agent, TRIS, which has been found to be a carcinogenic agent. TRIS treated textiles are now banned from sale in the UK and US, so the company sold its large stock of the banned products to underdeveloped countries which had no such ban.
2. Tiger Automotive recently acquired a patent for a fuel-efficient device,
which has been proven to increase the average car’s mileage by 45%. Given that Tiger is protected from direct competition by its patent, it has priced its new product at £45 to auto parts dealers even though it costs less than £1 to produce and distribute.
3. A company encourages its accountants to seek out innovative ways to avoid paying taxes, and find loopholes that follow the letter but not the spirit of the law. This is just about classifiable as tax avoidance, which is legal.
4. A security company advertises its products by a powerful advert aimed at elderly people living on their own, designed to create fear and terror in the viewer.
5. A computer manufacturer decides not to market a new chip that would enable computers to be upgraded, without the need for a new computer, because even though this reduces electronic waste, it also reduces sales of their computers which means a definite reduction in revenues in the short term, while the long term pay-off is uncertain.

Picturing the everyday nature of culture: How does culture inform our understanding of children and childhood?.

For this task, you will carefully select 2 images (photographs or artistic renderings) that depict young children in ordinary activities. These images should be ones that make you think about how young people (birth to age 8) experience their early life as a member of a society and a culture, and also how society and culture have expectations about children’s early lives. The images should not be extraordinary nor exotic (they should not be of child soldiers or beauty pageants), they should depict ordinary life activities such as family life, playing at home, in the neighbourhood, or at school. They could be images of children on special occasions, such as birthdays, holy days, or holidays if you’d like, so long as these activities would be considered fairly ordinary within the society and culture that the child is a part of. You will want to select images that give you something to talk about and think about. You will want to select images that depict the setting in which the image was rendered.

One of the images should be one that you can comment on from an ‘insider’ perspective with regard to culture (an image that represents the culture you identify with). The other image should be one that you will not be as familiar with – so that you can ‘read’ and comment on the photo from an ‘outsider’ perspective.

For the patch that you submit, you will use these images to discuss the intersection of children within culture, and as a prompt to write about how culture constructs and understanding of children and culture.

For the patchwork you must, provide the images you select (giving credit to the photographer or artist who has rendered the image, and in the case of photographs, with the permission of the persons depicted in the image), and write 500 words about the images in relation to children, childhood, and culture. You should address these specific points, and demonstrate critical thinking:
How the images you have selected represent a child in culture

Also think about:

-How society and culture impact our expectations of children and their experiences in ‘childhood’

-How both culture and childhood are ‘socially constructed’

Your writing should be linked to at least 3 academic references. Photographs and artistic renderings should be used only with permission of the ‘owner’ of the image, and in the case of photographs of persons, with the permission of the person or people depicted in the photograph. This is an important ethical aspect of this assignment.

management and organisational behavior

:
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CHOOSE TWO OUT OF THE THREE TOPICS
1-WORK GROUPS AND TEAMS
2-POWER AND POLITICS
3- CONFLICT AND NEGOTIATIONS

TWO OUT OF THREE YOU HAVE TO WRITE ABOUT

format:

1- Executive summery (200 words)

it is a summery of the entire report (and not introduction – a summery)

2- Introduction: (300 words)

an introduction ‘sets the scene’. by that I mean it introduces the topics and tries to engage the reader. then the introduction should state the aim of the assignment and how it will be structured.

3- Analysis (1500 to 1800 words)

use sub headings where appropriate

The Question as I mentioned:

choose two of the topics

1- work groups and teams
2- power and politics
3- conflict and negotiation

B- analyse and critically discuss the impact that your chosen topics area have on the culture of an organization an the way in which employees are managed.
you need to analyse and critically discuss how these topics are effecting the firm’s culture (you would need to choose a model (or maybe two) to analyse the culture of your organization) and the way which employees are managed.
4- conclusion (100 to 200 words)

conclude by summarizing the most important points from your analysis.
Notes:

I would like at least 10 references with 3 at least journal articles.
PLEASE TRY TO USE ALSO EXAMPLE AND WHEN I APPLY IT THE SIMILARITES OR PLATGORISIM SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 10 %

Is Hezbollah acting as the Capable Guardian of Lebanon with its intervention in Syria?b

Can you send me an email guaranteeing that I will receive a copy of all the texts that the writer mentions and a specific page number he/she is referring to in the text he/she is using in the paper?
I want a paper of high quality.
I want a copy of every text that the writer makes a reference to, specifying the page to which he/she is referring. Otherwise I do not want to proceed with the order.
I want the writer to send me regular drafts of the work he/she has done so I can see the progress of it and discuss any possible change.
I want the writer to use appropriate sources, most of them academic and whenever possible, accessible through internet and or electronic format (ebooks, journals, etc.).
As soon as the writer accepts I will send more details about the paper.

I expect that I will receive a copy of the text mentioned with expression of the page quoted or paraphrased. Please take note of this.

Business Ethics

In this module we have explored the various ways that ethical decisions are experienced, mediated, and managed in the contemporary workplace and the society at large. A number of different policies and procedures are employed to attempt to manage ethical behaviour in organizations today. Given the expansive nature of management in contemporary society, business ethics places demands not only on our behaviour as employees and managers, but more broadly as citizens. These demands play an important role in creating the basis of moral selfhood, helping to shape people’s motivations and actions.

Business ethics and corporate social responsibility represent what Levy and Kaplan (2009) describe as a “contested terrain” where ethical and political issues are worked out. They form the space where concerns raised by civil society actors are responded to by business, both offering new possibilities for democratic problem-solving and enhanced corporate accountability; on the other hand, these new CSR initiatives may threaten to bring about a privatization of governance, enhancing corporate power vis-à-vis nation states and their citizens.

Examining the case that your group presented in December, please write a 3,000 word essay.

1) Describe the history of your case. What is the situation? What are the economic, social, and political factors at work?

2) Identify 2-3 key stakeholder groups that are involved in this case. What roles do they play? How are they affected? What particular roles does the campaign / corporation play? What motivated this initiative in the first place? What role do civic organizations and NGOs play?

3) Drawing from relevant ethical theory explored in the module, explore the nature of the ethical conflict or disagreement that is involved. What kinds of ethical demands does the case place on the people who are involved in it? Are there competing or conflicting moral imperatives to be considered? If so, is it possible to find a balance between them? What does this case show us about the management of business ethics today?

This is a research paper and, as such, should follow academic standards of writing. You may wish to use popular news items and other web-based resources in your research (i.e. company websites, CSR Reports; civil society organisations’ websites, etc.). You should, however, reference academic articles from management journals to analyze your case; these may be resources which you locate through your own independent research, .

The coursework should fulfil the following formal criteria:
• It should include Harvard style in-text references for all cited works, and a list of references at the end of the text,
• It should be spellchecked and grammar-checked.

Fetishism of Commodities and Relevance to Visual Communication

Essay Question: What does Marx mean when he talks about the fetishism of commodities?
Reflect on what a “commodity” is and how it is different from an ordinary object. Discuss specific visual examples where Marx’s insight is relevant to the practice of visual communication today?

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
These identify the standards required to pass the module
-Evidence that you can compose a critical essay question within the context of themes covered within the module.
-Evidence of your comprehension and ability to analysis theoretical texts.
-Evidence that you can communicate effectively in written form analytical discussion on visual communication in critical terms.
-Evidence that you can reflect on the context of visual communication in the wider field of visual culture.
-Evidence that you can understand and synthesise complex information and structure your findings to form new ideas and thinking on a topic.
