Interaction analysis. Trans-cultural communication at work

This is final assignment for a subject named: Trans-cultural communication at work, for PhD degree in applied linguistics.

MOST IMPORTANT:

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY. THIS IS THE MAIN DESCRIPTION OF THE ASSIGNMENT.
KINDLY, PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THE ATTACHED FILES ESPECIALLY THE POWERPOINT SLIDES WHICH CONTAIN ALL THE NECESSARY EXPLANATION AND THE INFORMATION NEEDED FOR DOING THE ASSIGNMENT.

NOTE THAT ALL THE REFERENCES THAT YOU NEED TO PERFECTLY DO THE ASSIGNMENT CAN BE FOUND IN TWO PLACES. FIRST, IN THE ATTACHED LIST OF REFERENCES. SECOND, AT THE END OF EACH SLIDE (POWERPOINT FILES)

ALSO PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING ATTACHED FILE AND THEIR DESCRIPTION AS BELOW:

I have uploaded with this order the following files:
A- The assignment’s detailed description and criteria that MUST be met.
B- Mp3 file contains the video which you need to analyse (the conversation).
C- A transcription of the video to help the writer to analyse the features of communication. (NOTE THAT I HAVE NUMBERED EACH LINE IN THE DIALOUGUE IN THE TRANSCRIPTION SO THAT THE WRITER NEEDS ONLY TO REFER TO THE LINE NUMBER WITHOUT QUOATING ANY PHRASE FROM THE TRANSCRIPTION- UNLESS IT IS NECESSARY.)
D- An example of a written paper for the same assignment which was submitted by previous student in the same assignment, the same course, and to the same professor. This paper was graded very badly, but I have uploaded to you to help the writer and give him some information about how is the assignment. The writer can use the references in this assignment but he must add more references and some changes in the references list to avoid similarities.
E- I will upload a list of references (these list of references includes the exact number of the helpful pages) that the writer will need to get the idea of the topic, and it will help him to do the analysis. He should use some of these references and he can add some other references from the lists at the end of each PowerPoint file.
F- All the PowerPoint slides for the course which contain all the information you need to understand the topic and do the analysis. The slides contain all the description and the theories for the analysis. Moreover, at the end of each PowerPoint file there is a list of references that you need for more analysis information.

The assignment should be done as follow:
1- The assignment’s idea is to analyse the conversation between the two persons in the video (Mp4 file) according to the theories in the filed of trans-cultural communication at work.
2- A transcription of the video will be also attached to the order.
3- You need to concentrate your analysis on three of the following features:

A- Creating rapport
B- Non-verbal forms of communication including silence
C- Face and politeness
D- Power and solidarity
E- Accommodation
However, you need to write and mention the other remaining two features if they are existed in the dialogue in the video interaction. You do not have to write too much about these two. It will be enough to mention them and analyse them slightly. You need of course to support the analysis by theories.

4- For each feature analysis, you should first identify where each feature has occurred in the text (in the transcript: namely to determine which lines), justify it and analyse it, and then discuss it according to the theories in the trans-cultural communication.
5- Each feature should be analysed under a separate subtitle.
6- You should focus on a detailed analysis of the segments you select (segments from the conversation for each feature). You should draw on trans-cultural communication theories from relevant literature.

After providing all these information I DO expect high quality work.

then do make sure to cite as appropriate. Citation style does not matter as long as you are
consistent.
Instructions: You have three questions below. Answer the first one, and pick one other. Write
each response in 2-3 pages. YOU MUST ANSWER #1. Make sure to use examples to clarify and/or
support your answer.
Questions: You must answer #1
1. The Military Industrial Complex (MIC) has a long and significant history in American

example, and explain how you think it influences American society after the 9/11
attacks.
Pick one of these to answer as well.
2. Bacevich and others argue that militarization is a strong influence on American society.
Give some examples of this, and explain what the effects of militarization might be on
American society.

"art" and "entertainment" in rock music

This essay covers four chapters and includes three films and three critical articles. It’s a lot to think about.

Look up “art” and “entertainment” in an online dictionary. Preface your essay with the definitions you have chosen and (of course) cite the dictionary as a source. These do not count in your word total.

Discuss whether you think rock and roll and rock are art, entertainment, or some combination of the two. Illustrate with at least two songs from each chapter that are in different styles. Use all the assigned films you watched and their accompanying critical articles as well. You may, if applicable, substitute songs from the films for songs assigned in the modules, if and only if the songs are heard complete in the films. If you wish to substitute songs by the same artists as those assigned in the modules, you may do that as well. I encourage you to contact me about such unassigned songs, as some may serve your purposes better than others.

You may draw different conclusions about rock and roll, the transitional music in Chapter 6, and rock, and even about different songs. One issue you need to consider is the degree to which longevity matters in determining the degree of art versus entertainment in a song. It’s often thought that art “stands the test of time,” while entertainment may not. Every song you’ve been assigned in the modules has, to some degree, stood the test of time, some more than others. You will likely feel that a song you knew before you took this class has fared better in this regard, and that is reasonable. Regardless, draw your own conclusions about which songs are art, which are entertainment, and which are both.

Following your preface comprised of quoted definitions of terms, begin by stating your case regarding the music we’ve shared and art versus entertainment. Then proceed to the discussion of the songs that support your case. Examples drawn from careful listening to the music are most important (timings of particular moments are great). Lyrics are also important, of course. When relevant, the visual culture that accompanies the music should also be referenced (as in the assigned films and the assigned video of Chubby Checker lip-syncing “The Twist).

Systems Thinking

Soft system Methodology
The portfolio should include one example of each of the following:

You can select your examples from a variety of health related areas.( select any problematic situation in health)

HRM-Performance link

Literature Review of the relationship between human resources management practices and employees’ performance and organisational performance using critical realist meta-theory.
Please, take into account the following points that I want to cover:
Outline of the chapter (kindly, writer if you have better suggestion for organising this chapter feel free to arrange the material in sequence and please make clear links between paragraphs and sections).
1) Introduction
First paragraph: outlining the key points that will be critically reviewed and evaluated
(i.e. the structure the literature review takes and clarifying why)
The theories on relationships between HRM and performance, in particular, the human capital theory, underpinning the resource based view by Boxall and purcel 2008; Barney,1991 (RBV), (e.g. Sayer,2004 why critical realism and Harney) and the ability-motivation-opportunity (AMO) (see Jiang et al, p.77) for understanding their relationship with improving employees’ performance and organisational outcomes through using critical realist meta-theory to examine the underlying mechanism between inputs and outputs which in turn help to conceptualize the link between HRM-performance.

Second section: introduction (to show a gap in literature) such as although of the robust evidence for HRM-performance link according to scientific approach results, there is still a lack of understanding of the HRM-performance link. Also, there is a need for a critical and reflexive evaluation of what literature in terms of the link between HRM and performance should say (e.g Guest, 2010; Combs, Liu, Hall, & Ketchen, 2006; Hesketh and Fleetwood, 2006). This means that there is a need to unlock the black box (Purcell and Bxall) between HRM and performance in particular between selection, training and improving employee’s performance and organisational performance (see Jiang et al. 2012 p. 81)

2) The theory about HRM, a theory of human capital, a theory about performance and a theory how they are linked according to Guest (1997 HRM and performance: a review and research agenda, 2010) to understand the impact of HRM on performance (Karen Legge, 2005). She is critical in her approach to the performance. There is a need for a view of her understanding to performance. Paauwe et al 2004, Fleetwood and Hesketh, 2010. (i.e discussion)
3) In terms of performance HOW is it theorised and operationalised in previous studies. In this regard, how quantitative method of performance has been operationalized in previous research such as the health care sector. What’s wrong with quantitative methods (Fleetwood and Hesketh, 2010; Harney, Exploring the road less travelled in HRM-performance…). (there is a need for discussion)
4) A section of the current debate about the recent development of the human capital and theory of performance (e.g. Hesketh. A. 2014; Jiang et al., 2012; Combs et al 2006- How much do high-performance work practices matter? A meta-analysis…). In this regard, to identify the linkages between HR and performance i.e. to understand performance as opposed to measuring performance, in terms of identifying the linkages (e.g. employees’ ability, and perceptions to their behaviour since the organisation is not a profit company).

5) Employee engagement and their perceptions of HRM and its effects on organisational performance. (Baluch and Pienining, 2013 the relationship between employees’ perception of HRM and ….)
6) Summary of the chapter to indicate how the research questions emerged.

Key References, regarding (RBV) and (AMO) and HRM-P link (e.g. clarifying the construct of human resource systems: – Relating HRM to employee performance by Jiang et al., 2012; How does HRM influence organisational performance by Jiang et al, 2011; Boxall & Purcell, 2008)
– HRM-performance meta theory (Beyond Measuring the HRM organisational performance applying critical realist meta theory, Hesketh 2006); Explaining the performance of HRM by Fleetwood, 2010; and [Karen Legge, 2005. HRM Rhetoric and Realities], Theorising under theorising in research … Fleetwood and Hesketh 2007)
Aim of the research: is to examine the employees’ perceptions of the relationship between HRM policies and practices and employees’ performance for enhancing service performance within a large University and to provide a better understanding of HRM-Performance link. This is achieved by using the critical realist paradigm to examine the linkages between HRM practices such as recruiting, training and development practices and employees’ outcomes which in turn may improve organisational performance.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

Both, Literature and Popular media and films are a rich source of material addressing psychopathology and mental illness. You will be asked to view a relevant film or read a work of Literature. Then, I would like students to write a paper that addresses a number of relevant themes including the following:

A comprehensive description of psychopathology (symptoms) or particular Psychopathological dynamics (Oedipus complex, Existential Angst) depicted, including a formal DSM/ICD diagnosis of the protagonist or main character. This should include specific and relevant symptoms and biographical information that indicates how the person displays these dynamics or meets criteria for a particular mental disorder.
Identify a minimum of 3 SCENES either in the film or story that best the above points.
A reflection on the positive and negative messages that the film or story portray regarding the particular disorder or psychological dynamics.
Discussion of how well or poorly the movie or Literary work characterizes the particular form(s) of psychopathology depicted.
The paper should be written using APA format ONLY, and it should be minimum 2,500words long NOT counting title page and bibliography. The paper has to have a title page, followed by an Abstract in which summarizes the main idea of your paper. Then you should have an introduction followed by the main body of your paper where you cover numbers 1-4 above each section subtitled. Finally a Conclusion and a Bibliography. Therefore your paper outline should be as follows:

Title Page
Abstract
Introduction
Description of Psychopathology
Description of 3 scenes.
Characterization
Positive and Negative messages
Conclusion
