research and evaluation

RESEARCH DEFINITION/ARGUMENT PROJECT

We will complete essays 3 and 4 as part of a “project” so that you may work on them concurrently, and may benefit more from the research and writing experience. The purpose of this writing is to give you an in depth experience research and EXPLAINING an issue or problem and then writing an ARGUMENT taking a stance on the issue, heavily relying upon the research evidence, both primary and secondary, that you have gathered.

The research portion (Essay 3) will be the result of collaborative work with your research group on a common topic. The group will divide up and delegate aspects of the issue to research, read many pertinent articles, and share information in order to help formulate their individual arguments upon the issue. Essay 3 must be submitted for review and grading, but the completed project, including Essay 4, will be submitted as a whole in your portfolio. See the CALENDAR for submission dates.
Here are the rubrics for the project:

• Project Plan for both essays (graphic provided) due ___________
• Give a name to the entire project
• Use both PRIMARY and SECONDARY research
• Proper MLA format with Works Consulted/Annotated Bibliography will be submitted, and in text citation is necessary for this paper to be accepted.
• Must include a VISUAL, identified with MLA format

Essay 3 RESEARCH/DEFINITION:This essay will include a detailed description of the issue, including who is impacted, how and why impacted, and why this issue is significant. Use at least 7 sources of evidence. You will submit a rough draft of your annotated bibliography with Essay 3, and the completed Works Consulted page with Essay 4. The essay will be 1800 words and 5 pages minimum in MLA format with proper in-text citation. You are essentially explaining the key terms and concepts needed to understand the issue, and including the input of at least two experts in the field. You may include a visual to present relevant data.

Your packet will include a graphic and research outline. Your thesis statement should be underlined in your final draft.

Sample thesis: Current cultural attitudes about body image have substantially impacted the emotional and physical health of young people in North America.

******************************************************************************

Essay 4 ARGUMENT:This argument paper is based upon the research you discovered in Essay 3, plus other information you received from group members in your research collaboration. Begin by briefly describing and summarizing this issue covered in Essay 3, and then review alternate stances and points of view, refuting them through ethos, logos, and pathos arguments based upon evidence. This argument should be 5-7 pages, MLA format with proper in-text citation and include a variety of kinds of evidence: statistics, expert opinions, examples, reasons, and other historical or scientific facts or principles. You will receive extra points for appropriately including words from our class word pools.

Include an outline and word pool in your packet, along with any visuals you believe must accompany your argument.

Sample thesis: Cultural attitudes and norms in North America regarding what constitutes beauty or acceptable style have had a substantial negative impact upon the health and well-being of young people, and we must change such attitudes.

STRATEGY-HYBRID WARFARE

Hi, i need to write a final paper for the course on Strategy. The topic of the research paper is HOW TO COUNTER HYBRID WARFARE. It’s a group work so i will have to concentrate my part on the conceptualization and definition of Hybrid Warfare making reference also to practical cases. The professor underlined that it should not be a case study work so while reference to real events is well accept, the work should not only focus on a case but should be a more general analysis that should lead to practical considerations on how to COUNTER HYBRID WARFARE FROM A STRATEGICAL POINT OF VIEW.

Public and Parliamentary Attitudes to Welfare – Hugh Bochel, Andrew Defty 06/2007

A 2000 word critique of the methodology employed in a piece of academic research. and provide a detailed assessment of the methodology employed in carrying out the research which is presented in the published article.
you should try to confine your analysis to an assessment of the methodology behind the research presented in the article. This should comprise a broad and detailed discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of the particular methodology which draws upon the wider literature on research methods included in the module booklet, coupled with a careful analysis of how that methodology has been applied in this particular case. In your critique you MUST discuss the following: • The objectives of the research, • The type of methodology/ies employed • Explain why you think it was chosen and evaluate its appropriateness • With reference to the literature on research methods, critically evaluate the research methodology, and suggest any possible alternative methods which might have usefully been employed. • Reliability/validity of the choice of method.
Notice /in the introduction : briefly summarise the article outlining the aims of the research and the main findings . Also , A detalied explanation of the mothodology employed / discuss in detail the type of methodology/ies employed .Does the article seek to explain and defend the methodology? what did the research involve? were there any ethical consideration?was more than one research method used? what kind of date did the research produce? how is it verified and analysed?
A critical analysis of he methodology /provide a critical assessment of the particular methodology involved . At this point you should move beyond analysis of the article under review . and apply some wider literature on research methods.you must undertake a critical assessment of the potential benefits and drawbacks of the research method/s which were used .you must include sources on methodology (failure to do so will adversely affect your mark)
Conclusions:In conclusion you should consider the appropriateness of the choice of method and suggest any possible alternative methods, which might have usefully been employed
Bibliography: you need to access related literature for the evaluation, which must be appropriately referenced in the bibliography .you must have at least 7 sources including those on your subject or research and research methodology sources .failure to do so may result in a mark of zero .
Important thing please I just need to let know I do not want more than 2000 words just I need 2000 no more

The compilation+Final project+Diagram of my ISD process

1- The first is a compilation of all the assignments you have completed up to this point. It should be a complete course/program plan which is clearly laid out which you may take to a director/supervisor as a complete course/program proposal. You can develop this as a well-organized set of documents, It should include your changes that result from the cyclical process of instructional design( lovely writer before doing the compilation write short short interduction for each one that explain and let the reader goes constantly )
2-The second part (25 pts) is a presentation you will give either via online video or in-person during the last few class meetings. In many cases, for an ISD project you are a part of at work, you would have to make a presentation to a supervisor, board, committee, or other authority. The presentation you create for the class will be evaluated by your peer learners, who will play the fictional role of those stakeholders. The presentation should be a compelling argument why your program/learning event should be approved/ purchased/receive funding etc.
(lovely writer all what i ask you on this point use (power point) to summrize what you have done with all my assignments step by step becuse i will present that to the class+ one page summary i can read from this paper as reminder )

3-Diagram of your ISD process
For this activity you get to unlock your creativity completely. During this course we’ve investigated a number of instructional design models and followed the basic Smith & Ragan Model. We have discussed the risks and potential consequences of skipping any step in the model. Through your experience, create your own map/diagram/visual aid of how you perceive the instructional design process or how you might implement it in your place of work. This can be a digital image, a prezi, a video, a drawing, a photo, or anything else you can think of. Your diagram should illustrate your emotions/passion as well as contain the basic ADDIE elements. We’ll be sharing these as a class during the last few class meetings.
Scoring: Compilation – 50 pts
Model that contains all the basic ISD steps in some way – 20 points
Clarity of model and the process it describes – 20 points
Creativity/Originality of the model – 10 points

Evidence-based instruction, research-based instruction, and scientifically-based instruction

e
In an essay respond to the following:
1.What is the basic meaning of the term data-supported (or data-driven) instruction?
2.What did you learn in the program you are now completing, including in student teaching, about the use of data-supported instruction?
3.What are the specific uses you have made of data-supported instruction in your practicum?
4.What are some of the ways knowledge of and skill in using data-supported instruction have made a difference in your instructional practices?
5.Critically discuss and evaluate the principle that methods of instruction and intervention should be data-supported. Should all instruction be data-supported? If so, why? If not, why not?
6.Discuss the difference in meaning between the terms data-supported instruction and evidence-based methods of instruction. Are these principles of equal importance regarding their application to instruction? If so, why? If not, why not?

Assignment – Research-based Assignment Learning Outcomes Assessed: 2, 3, 4, 5

Students must submit an essay addressing one of the three topics below. In completing the essay students are required to review and include at least five articles published in academic journals that relate to the essay question. Three of these articles should be the ones used in the annotated bibliography assessment. The essays should be clearly argued and reflect your critical thinking on the topic. The tutorial for Week 2/3 will provide guidance about essay writing. Further information will be available in the assessment folder on the portal unit site.
1) Are people with mental health problems at increased risk of violent offending? Discuss.
2) Are interventions with children and adolescents who are at risk of future offending effective? Discuss.
3) Psychological research shows that eyewitness testimony is not always accurate, therefore it should not be used in the criminal justice system. Discuss.
The School of Criminology has an Essay Writing and Study Guide available. This will provide you with help in getting started with your essay.

Online Campaign Project

Your assignment is to critically analyse a website, provide recommendations to improve its search results, and plan an online ad campaign to promote the site. You are encouraged to use your creativity and select tools to make this possible.

Project report structure:

I. Scholarship – 25 marks:

You must conduct market research and data analysis to provide a thorough justification for your recommendations.

This can include primary data (current website content, interviews or surveys of potential users), a tabular extract from Keyword Research, competitor activity analysis in this area, screen shots of current competitors’ ranking for your primary keyword terms using different tools such as Google Keyword planner tool, Google Trends, Google Insights for Search, etc.

II. Analysis – 25 marks:

You must critically evaluate the principles and processes involved in search engine optimization and website content strategy. This consists of 3 parts:

1. Evaluation of current rank. Use SEMRush, Open Site Explorer and a number of other tools to record the site’s overall Google Rank, backlinks, and other relevant data. Please be sure to note the exact date of your evaluation, since the website may change. Why do you think the site is not ranking higher? Please support your opinion with research.

2. Keyword evaluation. Select a minimum 5 keywords using Google AdWords Keyword Planner, and show their average monthly searches and competition level. Why did you select these keywords? While noting that individual results may vary, where does the website currently rank in terms of SERP (Search Engine Results Page and page position)? How do key competitors rank on the same keywords?

3. AIDA+ evaluation. In your opinion, how well does the current website create Awareness of the brand and product/service it offers; create Interest in readers to find out more; create Desire for the product/service; generate Action in terms of conversions (such as purchasing, registration, or business objective); and provide Satisfaction to current and past customers (customer service, post-purchase communications, etc.).

III. Campaign – 50 marks:

Based on your analysis, create a brief online campaign plan. This includes 5 parts:

1. Audience. Identify the relevant target audience/customers for your campaign.

2. SMART goals. Set one-year objectives for your website that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound. This should include both SEO and AIDA+ performance.

3. KPI’s. Set Key Performance Indicators to measure whether your SMART objectives are being met.

4. Content. Identify the major content changes you would make on the website to achieve your objectives, and justify your recommendations using research. This includes placement of keywords, renaming sections, adding or deleting other sections, and inclusion of multimedia content (games, videos, etc.).

5. Online ad campaign. With a hypothetical budget of US$10,000, plan an ad campaign with text ads on Google, Facebook, LinkedIn OR Twitter. (Pick 2 of the 4, and do not do banner-type display ads.) What keywords will you target, and what will your ad say? Show your planned budget in detail. Be original — do not copy any ads that are being run now or in the past

Project Management

McGee Carpet and Trim installs carpets in commercial offices. Andrea McGee has been very concerned with the amount of time it took to complete several recent jobs. Some of her workers are very unreliable. A list of activities and their optimistic completion time, the most likely completion time, and the pessimistic completion time (all in days) for a new contract are provided in a given table. Following are the activities that are required to install the carpets in the offices:

Activity 1: Measure office room dimensions
Activity 2: Estimate cost
Activity 3: Material requisition
Activity 4: Workforce requisition
Activity 5: Special tool requisition
Activity 6: Installation
Activity 7: Inspection and customer acceptance

Activity 2 starts immediately after Activity 1. Activity 3, Activity 4, and Activity 5 start concurrently after Activity 2. Activity 6 does not start until after Activity 3, Activity 4, and Activity 5 are completed. The carpet installation project is complete after Activity 7 is completed. If OT = Optimistic Time, MT = Most Likely Time, and PT = Pessimistic Time, use a Program Evaluation Review Estimate (PERT) to compute the statistical time for each activity, as in the following table:

You must also do the following:

Determine the expected completion time and the variance for each activity
Determine the total project completion time and the critical path for the project
Determine Early Start (ES), Early Finish (EF), Late Start (LS), and slack for each activity
What is the probability that McGee Carpet and Trim will finish the project in 40 days or less?
Define project management and the necessary requirements.
Analyze implications of changes in project scheduling.
Evaluate application of project management techniques in terms of the firm’s business operational goals and requirements.

Please submit your assignment in an APA-formatted paper.

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:

Title page: Remember the running head. The title should be in all capitals.
Abstract: A summary of your paper, not an introduction. Begin writing in third-person voice.
Body: The body of your paper begins on the page following the title page and abstract page and must be double-spaced (be careful not to triple- or quadruple-space between paragraphs). The type face should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics except as required for APA-level headings and references. The deliverable length of the body of your paper for this assignment is 2–3 pages. In-body academic citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety of academic sources is encouraged.
Reference page: References that align with your in-body academic sources are listed on the final page of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate spacing, hang indention, italics, and upper- and lowercase usage as appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the Reference Page is not a bibliography but a further listing of the abbreviated in-body citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a corresponding in-body citation

week5 research methods

Part I – Answer the following questions:

Jackson (2012), even-numbered chapter exercises, p 360.
Describe the advantages and disadvantages of quasi-experiments? What is the fundamental weakness of a quasi-experimental design? Why is it a weakness? Does its weakness always matter?
If you randomly assign participants to groups, can you assume the groups are equivalent at the beginning of the study? At the end? Why or why not? If you cannot assume equivalence at either end, what can you do? Please explain.
Explain and give examples of how the particular outcomes of a study can suggest if a particular threat is likely to have been present.
Describe each of the following types of designs, explain its logic, and why the design does or does not address the selection threats discussed in Chapter 7 of Trochim and Donnelly (2006):
Non-equivalent control group pretest only
Non-equivalent control group pretest/posttest
Cross-sectional
Regression-Discontinuity
Why are quasi-experimental designs used more often than experimental designs?
One conclusion you might reach (hint) after completing the readings for this assignment is that there are no bad designs, only bad design choices (and implementations). State a research question for which a single-group post-test only design can yield relatively unambiguous findings.

Part II – Answer the following questions:

What research question(s) does the study address?
What is Goldberg’s rationale for the study? Was the study designed to contribute to theory? Do the results of the study contribute to theory? For both questions: If so, how? If not, why not?
What constructs does the study address? How are they operationalized?
What are the independent and dependent variables in the study?
Name the type of design the researchers used.
What internal and external validity threats did the researchers address in their design? How did they address them? Are there threats they did not address? If so how does the failure to address the threats affect the researchers’ interpretations of their findings? Are Goldberg’s conclusions convincing? Why or why not?

Support your paper with a minimum of 5 resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages
References: Minimum of 5 scholarly resources.
