Create a parent-friendly flyer describing at least two (2) ways that parents might use your selected communication strategy with young children.

Good parenting and good teaching have something in common. They both aim for loving our children well. Is that a walk in the park all the time? Of course not. If it were, we wouldn’t need courses like this to help us through. The questions you now need to ask yourself are: What type of parent or teacher would you want to be? How would you best communicate? How would you discipline? Part A Identify a television show or movie for each of the following: one that depicts an authoritarian style of parenting one that depicts an authoritative style of parenting one that depicts a permissive style of parenting Explain the effect that each of the three styles has on the children in the show. Part B Select one (1) of the communication topics from Chapter 7 (effective communication, reflective listening, problem solving, etc.).

Create a parent-friendly flyer describing at least two (2) ways that parents might use your selected communication strategy with young children. Part C For the scenario below, determine which type of related consequence is most appropriate. Provide two (2) supporting facts to justify your answer, citing your sources. Scenario: Basilo was pretending to cook dinner in the house area when Salena grabbed a plate away from him and said, “Boys don’t cook.” Basilo replied, “Yes, they do. My daddy cooks!” as he grabbed onto the plate. The children continued their tug-of-war until you intervened.

How do we express the complexities of being human? Consider how Shakespeare did this in his sonnets and in his plays.

1. How do we express the complexities of being human? Consider how Shakespeare did this in his sonnets and in his plays. You may choose to create your own sonnet for this assignment, or create a modernized version of one of Shakespeare’s sonnets. Your creative piece is to express the complexities of being human. Consider Shakespeare’s use of language, play on words, humor, etc. Read “The Human Condition Background” text in Lesson 1 for help with this question. Remember that Sonnets have 14 lines and use iambic pentameter–if creating your own sonnet, be sure to employ the use of techniques you have learned about in the course. You may use modern day language, however, still use techniques such as those used by Shakespeare–you may even consider adding words that Shakespeare added to the English language. Also incorporate ideas you have learned about irony in lesson 2–verbal irony, situational irony, or dramatic irony. There are two parts to this assignment: • a) Provide a paragraph in which you explain your rationale for the sonnet you created. How does it express the complexities of being human? In essence, you will be providing a brief analysis of your own work • b) Create a sonnet. Your sonnet should be no less or more than 14 lines. The guidelines for the sonnet are attached below:

Course work- How prevalent is obesity among elementary students and can it be changed?

2 individual thoughtful responses are needed to the two students in class on the below discussion topic, around 100 words per reply or less (does not have to be more than 130, no in-text citation needed.) your contribution is through replies. It is a great place to introduce new information, opinions, links, etc.; and both are equally important. When reading the classmates’ posts, offer them feedback and suggestions to help them improve upon their thematic unit ideas Discussion: For the problem you have selected, please apply the ORID process by asking yourself questions related to your problem. Specifically: What is your objective description of the problem? What are your reflections about the problem? What is your interpretation of the possible cause(s)? What is your decision about how to resolve the problem? Student 1: How prevalent is obesity among elementary students and can it be changed?

Childhood obesity is a disrober involving excessive body fat that increases the risk of health problems (Lill, 2016). Obesity among young children has tripled since the 70s’ and has long-term effects on physical, social, and emotional health. The risks for long-term effects are higher for children with obesity. Obesity is becoming more and more common to see within younger children, this is a problem because of what obesity can do you to you. My hypothesis is that obesity is prevalent within the vast majority of elementary schools but obesity can decrease by changing factors that are causing obesity. Obesity can be changed if the community of educators come together to find ways to promote a healthier life style for children. By creating more nutritious free lunches, as well as free snacks that are provided. Within the school system there is not enough promotion about healthy eating. Students are receiving food that is packaged or cooked with unhealthy ingredients.

Promoting positive eating environment where students understand the nutrition behind the food. When changes are made to create a well rounded nutritious diet for students then obesity may lead to a decrease. Within the United States around 30.3 million children receive free breakfast and lunch which is two meals students are receiving five days a week. Five days a week with two nutritious meals plus a snack might have a significant decrease in childhood obesity. Student 2: Introduction: Can humans help to change climate change on the planet? Climate change refers to the rising of average temperatures on Earth. Climate changes due to carbon dioxide released into the air by the burning of fossil fuels. This is very problematic for humans as well as the environment. My hypothesis is that humans can, in fact, change the speed of climate change by not using so many fossil fuels, but find alternatives.

Humans could help stop climate change by reducing the methane emissions from fracked gas, which is 84 times more powerful than carbon dioxide that gets released into the air. Humans could use more renewable resources, like solar, wind or water power. We could also rethink transportation by car pooling, ride a bike to work, fly less, or switch your vehicle to electric or hybrid. The use of energy-efficient light bulbs and washing clothes in cold water instead of hot water makes a huge difference in climate change. The foods we eat every day could help climate change too, by eating meat free meals, buying organic whenever possible and growing your own food.
