Rawiya has been employed at XYZ Oman LLC for the last six years. During her tenure she had been a valuable employee, although during the past

two years it was observed that there has been a drop in her work performance due to tardiness and absenteeism. The whole department is aware

that Rawiya is facing many problems at home, and her co-workers have covered for her and even completed work for her when necessary, but they

are beginning to complain.

You, as a manager, had hoped that Rawiya’s issues would improve and she would return to being the dependable employee you once knew but now you

have to confront her about the work that is piling up. When you meet with her the next morning and begin the discussion of her work performance,

she starts to cry and tells you about her marital difficulties and that she’s been battling depression as a result. You try to help her talk

through these issues. You suggest that she visit the Employee Assistance Program and see her physician, and by the end of the meeting, she seems

better. She leaves your office and starts a one-week vacation that you’ve just granted so she can begin to deal with these issues.

You feel she is taking steps to improve her situation. You realize that you never really did discuss her work performance, but you’re confident

that she’ll be fine once she takes your advice.

Case Scenario: Infectious Mononucleosis
A 21 year old student presents to your clinic with a 1 week history of a sore throat, stiffness and tenderness in his neck, and extreme malaise.

On examination, he was mildly pyrexial with posterior cervical lymphadenopathy, palatal petechiae and pharyngeal inflammation without an

exudate. Abdominal examination showed mild splenomegaly. There was no evidence of a skin rash or jaundice.

The clinical diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis (‘glandular fever’) was confirmed on investigation. His white cell count was 13 x 109 /L

(Normal Range 4-10 x 109 /L) with over 50% of the lymphocytes showing atypical morphology (‘atypical lymphocytosis’). His serum contained IgM

antibodies to Epstein-Barr viral capsid antigen (VCA), the most specific test for acute infectious mononucleosis. Liver function tests were

normal.

He was treated symptomatically and was advised to avoid sporting activity until his splenomegaly had completely resolved and was recommended to

abstain from alcohol for at least 6 months.

Assessment: ESSAY- MEDICAL FORMAT
The essay must discuss the clinical symptoms and pathogenesis of the condition in the context of the information provided in the case study (see

case below details). It must also describe in some detail the following processes relating to the condition: • the infection process • the acute

inflammatory process and • the potential for chronic inflammation.

Essay requirements:
• Word count must be with in 1500 words +/- 10%. Word count over 1650 words will not be read or assessed. Word count does not include in-text

referencing, reference list, cover sheet or titles. • Referencing must be according to the APA Referencing Guidelines. • A minimum of five

academic references is required, with at least one being a peer reviewed journal article. A maximum of ten references is allowed. References can

include journals, books and websites. • The essay should be submitted in a Word document format through Blackboard. • The essay should be

presented using Times New Roman or Arial font, size 12 and double spaced. Essay Guidelines: • It is highly recommended to submit a Turnitin

report with the completed essay to demonstrate the level of originality.

Second, locate the website for your political party. Use a search engine to find the address. If you are unsuccessful, contact an elected

official of that party and ask for help in locating it. Once you have located the party website, determine how much you can learn from it.

Third, collect the information to answer the following questions: What is the structure of the state party? Does the website contain the legal

document governing the party similar to the Party Plan of the Republican Party of Virginia? How does the party choose its state officers? How is

the party organized locally? How can an interested person become a member of the local party committee? What other types of information are

contained in the website? If the website does not have sufficient information, a phone call to a member of the local party can provide this

reading of the Word to serve them well. Series preaching exposes them to thought that has been allowed to germinate, grow root, and bear fruit.
