Optical techniques have been used for a long time to perform measurement in many areas. In many cases they relied on bulky equipment that were only used in the labs. Since the advent of the lasers and the advancement in light detectors and light emitting diodes, it has been possible to build portable equipment.
Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive optical technique for monitoring the heart rate and the blood oxygen level. You are required to report on the theory of operation of such devices. You are then required to design, build and test a complete pc-based heart rate monitor system.

Tasks

I. Survey the current methods used to monitor heart rate and blood oxygen level. Compare those with optical techniques.

II. Detail the principle operation of the optical pulse oximetry.

III. Design and build a practical optical probe that can be easily connected to the subject.

IV. Design and build the appropriate electronics which includes the source drivers, detectors and the conditioning electronics.

V. Test the optical probe with the electronics to ensure good operation.

VI. Build the appropriate data acquisition circuit for interface with pc.

VII. Develop the software using Lab View to display the heart rate Display must be numeric and in the form of a graph as appropriate.

VIII. Experimentally evaluate the system. Include accuracy and repeatability in your evaluation.

Chapter 3 must be for Why and How Buddhist Sri Lanka has given no place to this literally existence geographical phenomenon. The obvious reason is that Sinhalese Buddhists have always wanted to imagine that the phenomenon never exists. How they tactfully promoted Adam’s Peak but ignored Adam’s Bridge, so that the sacred geography of the island of Sri Lanka would never be adulterated by the land connection to the island. Chapter 3 must include the way Ravana is hero to Sinhalese Buddhists, and that Buddha asked Vishnu to be the guardian of Lanka, and that Ravana is a disciple of Vishnu and/or Buddha

Semiotics (advertising) – Research paper

The process of writing this paper should lead the writer to look deeply into an ad and by extension, come to a better understanding of advertising as a social and discursive practice.

This analysis should demonstrate an understanding of the Marx, Williamson and Goldman readings and apply some of their ideas and concerns to  an analysis. Demonstrate that  the readings have been done carefully,the author’s central arguments and major points,  most importantly,  apply those ideas and critical approaches to  analysis of an ad. These short essays should be in formal prose and include a bibliography or works cited page.
Follow Williamson’s and/or Goldman’s examples;  draw upon their ideas and approaches to the analysis of advertising. Williamson, for instance, offer dozens of examples of advertising analysis and Goldman has an extensive discussion of the logic of perfume ads. Both authors demonstrate how to apply their ideas to writing about ads.

The following brief questions should be used as a guide.  Don’t answer or address all of the following question but make sure to incorporate some of the keywords into  writing and demonstration that  to understand these terms by applying them to a sophisticated analysis of representation in advertising.
