Journal Article Critiques

Your are required to keep a journal of 4 quality articles you read in the Wall Street Journal, Fortune magazine, or other publication of

interest to you. The articles may be business or personally based. What is most important is you choose articles of interest to you and in

which you can relate something to quality.

The article topic may be either a product or service or something else entirely (e.g. politics). The rationale behind allowing you to choose

any type of publications lies in the idea of your learning that quality issues are everywhere from top notch academic journals to Cosmopolitan

magazine.

We each confront such issues every day (e.g. do you look in the mirror before you leave the house? You are checking at least one aspect of

quality.).

This journal should NOT be a summary of the article as I am going to read the article, so you needn’t summarize it.

What you should do is
1)State what you learned from the article and/or your reaction to the article

2)Directlyrelate as many aspects of the article to quality as you can, by being as specific as you can and

3)Relate the article to quality tools (if no quality tools were used, take your best guess as to what quality tools could/should have been

used.

These are your impressions, so be critical and thoughtful. You may bring in anecdotal evidence; simply label it such. You are welcome to have

any opinion you like, please back it up with rationale.

Please include all appropriate bibliographic references in APA format. Please do number sections 1, 2, and 3 so that it eases my grading.

(Thank you kindly!)

Also remember to scan and upload the article – I will need full attachment of articles to go with each impression.

Civil rights leader outline

This course has introduced and assessed many noteworthy figures related to the continuing buildup of the United States and its place within the world and globalization during the last 140 years. For this assignment, you will choose an influential civil rights figure from the mid-20th century to the present. Your selection may be taken from speakers or religious, economic, or social leaders. You may not use any U.S. President. This assignment is open to any reform discussed in this course (e.g., creed, race, age, status, or gender).

Prepare an outline communicating that figure’s relevance in today’s modern era. Why and how is this figure important today? This is not a biography. Your argument should highlight how society remembers him or her now.

For this assignment, you will be creating a one-page outline (minimum of 300 words) about your chosen figure. If you choose, this could be used to help write your transcript for the Unit VII assignment described below. Submit your outline in this unit. It is suggested, though not required, that you include potential sources.

The goal of this assignment is to prepare you for the Unit VII assignment.

Here are a few options or you can select someone else that you prefer. This outline will be the person that I’ll have the next order for my Unit VII project.

Evolution of Nurse Educators

Explore the website “Creative Writing Now” to review the parameters for writing a haiku. With this information in mind, write a haiku

using the following questions as a guide: https://www.creative-writing-now.com/how-to-write-a-haiku.html
If the first line of the haiku represented the roles of past nurse educators, what five-syllable description would you create?
If the second line represented the roles of today’s nurse educators, what seven-syllable description would you create?
If the third line represented the roles of tomorrow’s nurse educators, what five-syllable description would you create?
Post an original haiku that portrays your perspective on the evolving role of nurse educators. Provide rationale for each line of your

poem by citing examples related to the changing landscape of nursing education.

Literary Analysis Essay

Analyze one aspect of the short story- Mericans by Sandra Cisneros found on the following link:

http://www.tamucc.edu/wiki/SeanBritt/Mericans

You should use concrete evidence from the story to support your arguments and analyze how it does so.
Your essay needs to be divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You need to have a clear, focused, argumentative thesis

statement, topic sentences for your body paragraphs, in-text citations for your short story, and a works cited, in which the short story you use

should be the ONLY entry.

Unit 2 Product and Work Design

Unit 2 Product and Work Design
INTRODUCTION

A product or a service starts with design. A key component of the design process is to determine if a product or service can be offered at a price

point that will produce a profit for a company. This unit focuses on the different processes a company can utilize to design a product or service.

Concepts covered include, break even analysis, benchmarking, reverse engineering, concurrent engineering, as well as others that are considered best

practices by companies who lead in their industry. A key consideration in design is any cost or environmental impact affecting sustainability

concerns.

TOGGLE DRAWERHIDE FULL INTRODUCTION

The current fast-paced economy has shortened the product life cycle, by forcing companies to update more often in order to serve their customers and

stay ahead of the competition. One tool used by many companies to help maintain an advantage is the flow chart. This tool allows companies to

diagram out all the processes needed to deliver their products. The flow chart diagram gives the visual flow of the work down to the simplest step

in the process. It allows management to constantly review the processes to see where bottlenecks occur and to help determine how they can improve

the process.

A final consideration in this unit looks at the ways in which companies strive to improve the work environment for their employees and enhance

sustainability concerns. People are a company’s number one resource, and management must take care of their employees to grow and maintain industry

leadership.

OBJECTIVES

To successfully complete this learning unit, you will be expected to:

Use a flow chart to analyze the characteristics of a product or service.
Apply a break even analysis tool to your product or service.
Identify the key elements of the job design.

Imagine that the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of your organization, or of an organization in which you are familiar, has tasked you with researching the potential for using virtualization in the organization. You must write a report that the CTO and many others within the organization will read. You must also summarize the paper and share your key ideas, via a PowerPoint presentation, with the CTO and steering committee of the organization.
This paper and presentation should enlighten the organization as to whether or not virtualization is a worthwhile investment that could yield eventual savings to the organization.

Section 1: Written Report

  1. Write an six to eight (6-8) page paper in which you:
    1. Compare and contrast the top three (3) brands of virtualization software available. Focus your efforts on components such as standard configuration, hardware requirements price, and associated costs.
    2. Examine the major pros and major cons of each of the top three (3) software packages available. Recommend the virtualization software that you feel is most appropriate for the organization. Provide a rationale for your recommendation.
    3. Explore the major advantages and major disadvantages that your chosen organization may experience when using virtualization software. Give your opinion on whether or not you believe virtualization software is the right fit for your chosen company. Provide a rationale for your response.
    4. Create a Microsoft Word table that identifies the advantages, disadvantages, computer requirements, initial costs, and future savings for an organization considering an engagement in virtualization.

Select two potential creative solutions for the problem you identified in Week 3. Create a 800-word discussion of potential solutions and the

team’s decision-making process. Identify two potential solutions. Summarize the methods the team used to develop creative solutions. Describe

ways the team overcame barriers to creativity to identify solutions. Discuss how critical thinking was applied to come up with potential

solutions and to motivate change. Explain how the team used the four key factors to make the suggested business decisions.

Disorders of the Immune Response

Ahmed has worked as a phlebotomist in the local hospital for the last 7 years. Last year, he began to complain of watery, nasal congestion and wheezing whenever he went to work. He suspected he was allergic to something at the hospital because his symptoms abated when he was at home over the weekends. One day he arrived at work for the morning shift and put on his gloves. Within minutes, he went into severe respiratory distress requiring treatment in the emergency ward. It was determined at that time his allergic response was due to latex exposure.
1. Ahmed experienced a type I, IgE-mediated hypersensitivity response. How can this be determined by his signs and symptoms? How might another type of latex hypersensitivity reaction present?
2. How do T2H cells, mast cells, and eosinophils function to produce the signs and symptoms typical of a type I hypersensitivity disorder?
3. How is it that someone who does not come into direct contact with latex can still have a hypersensitivity response to the material? What do food allergies have to do with latex allergies?
