Global leadership
During the past two weeks, you have examined the importance of globalisation and global context in evaluating global leadership. This week the focus shifts to understanding the type of individual who is a successful global leader. One of the challenges facing many organisations today is finding those individuals who can manage global enterprises. What characteristics does such an individual have? Being a global leader involves much more than conducting business with another country. It requires the ability to motivate, communicate and solve problems among different cultures, economic systems and political arenas, all while engaging others towards a shared vision.

In the article ‘Effective Global Leadership Requires a Global Mindset’, Cohen argues that ‘the most important attribute required for effective global leadership is not a new set of skills or experience, but rather a new perspective called a global mindset’ (2010, p.5). However, in Figure 3.3 in your text, global mindset is just one component of a larger set of competencies.
review this week’s resources, including Chapters 5 and 9 of the module text. Reflect on the arguments presented by Cohen and the authors of your module text.

Make the case for or against the argument that having a global mindset is the key foundational factor in being a successful global leader, as stated by Cohen. Be sure to support your argument with appropriate citation.
In working out your responses to the Discussion Question, you should choose examples from your own experience and/or the readings for this week, orfind appropriate cases on the Web that you can discuss. Credit will be given for references you make to relevant examples from real companies. Please make sure that you cite and reference all your outside sources properly, in accordance with the Harvard referencing system.

Knowledge Management

Business Knowledge Management: Case Study Project

carry out a knowledge management (KM) assessment in order to identify areas where KM interventions would be both appropriate and beneficial. Please address the following questions (each is worth 4 points):

How does the company perceive KM? Do they demonstrate any bias (e.g. more technology than people-oriented, more efficiency than innovation-oriented?) Analyze the definition of KM?–Which key attributes of KM are of particular importance to this company? What are the strengths of their definition? Weaknesses? How would you revise the KM definition in order to improve it?
What are the goals of this company – what problem(s) are they trying to address? Which, if any, are KM-related problems? What are the others? Identify the tacit and the explicit knowledge to be addressed for this organization. List both types of knowledge in a table and justify your categorization. What is the company doing well in terms of addressing tacit knowledge? Explicit knowledge? What could they do better? Provide some recommendations and explain how the company would benefit from them.
Position the different aspects of KM at the company on the BTOPP framework (Benefits-Tool-Organization-People-Process). In your opinion, are they headed in the right direction? Are they using effective incentives for knowledge sharing? How will they measure the benefits of having KM in place? Have they thought of everything? What would you recommend to this company and in what order/sequence – what should they tackle first? Why? How would you convince them that this is the right step/direction?

Economics

Economics.
Use The textbook we use is John B.Taylor’s “Principles of Microeconomics.” You may use We are supposed to describle and analyze a economics model. We need THREE SETS of diagrams, which means 6 diagrams in total. The two diagrams for each set are:a.a Supply and Demand diagram of market under pure competition;b. show how Demand looks to the individual firm.
1.Choose an industry which you see as meeting or approximating the conditions of pure competition. Discuss each of the assumptions of pure competition and state how closely you see this industry fitting those assumptions. Use the product/service which you have chosen to properly label the axes of your diagrams.
2.In a first set of diagrams draw the market (left side) in equilibrium and the firm (right side) breaking even. This is to be shown in two diagrams drawn horizontally side-by-side.
3.Beneath the first set of diagrams describe how the market would find the equilibrium price and what it means for the firm to “breakeven”. Explain why you have chosen to draw the market demand as relatively elastic or relatively inelastic.
4.In a second set of diagram shouw the short-run effects of a decrease in the marginal cost of production on the market and the firm. Shade in any profit or loss area the firm is experiencing. Beneath the second set of diagrams describe how the firms would choose the rate of output to produce in the short run.
5.Draw a third set of diagrams to show the long run effects of the decrease in the marginal costs of production on the market and a representative firm. Beneath the third set of diagrams describe how the firms would respond in the long run and how that would affect the market. Assume there are no external economics or diseconomies of scale.
