Purpose: Design a curriculum for a topic or an area of interest or current teaching in the field of language teaching. Design a Mini-syllabus (4-week) for a specific Topic, Skill or Student Population of possible interest. This assignment is intended to give you a chance to “strut your stuff” by designing a syllabus for a 4-week program for a particular group of students (who you will identify). Classes in this proposed course will be 3-5 hours per day.
Note: Inclusion of such a ‘spec’ curriculum in a teaching portfolio can be used to make proposals for new courses, to show your flexibility and interests as a teacher.
Just to clarify, the CDPs need to be 60-100 hours in length.
It should be hours, not days, because teaching is based on hours.
For example, 60 hours could be done in four weeks, at 15 hours per week (e.g., 3 hours per day X 5 days)
The sample CDPs are based on an intensive 4 week format, but the idea is they can be adapted to fit ‘real life’ context as necessary.
Process
First Stage:
You will decide on factors such as syllabus type, organizational atmosphere, available materials, class sizes, class composition (age, gender, culture, linguistic mix, etc.), class facilities, etc.
Second Stage:
You will design:
1. a course (4-week) syllabus/course outline
2. a weekly set of goals and objectives
3. 1 day’s complete lesson plan
a. with explicit goals and objectives
b. hour by hour (or activity by activity) plan
i. time expectations, materials, etc.
You will also contextualize this lesson plan within the overall plan of (1) and (2).
Step 1: Developing a course idea for the “Syllabus Design Project”
Brainstorm as many specific details about that course as you can. Discuss (i) goals and objectives, (ii) topics to be covered, (iii) number of class hours per week, (iv) class size, (v) student characteristics, (vi) location for course, (vii) materials that could be used, (vii) probable cost for course (guesstimate cost of time, materials, rental of room, etc).
(i) Identify the goals and objectives of the course (e.g., In this course, students will learn to….)
(ii) Topics to be covered
(iii) Number of class hours per week
(iv) Ideal class size
(v) Student characteristics (age, gender mix, education, ESL level, language/cultural background, socioeconomic status, etc)
(vi) Location for course (e.g., school, office, etc)
(vii) Materials that could be used (e.g., texts, realia, other materials, etc)
(viii) Probable cost for course per student (e.g., guesstimate cost of time, materials, rental of room, etc).
Step 2: Draft a course description
Fill in each of the following headings as best you can.
• Program philosophy/goal(s):
• Prospective student population/market
• Course outline:
• Course requirements/pre-requisites:
• Materials:
o Supplied:
o Required:
• Evaluation/Outcomes:
• Cost:
• Contact person:
Step 3: Building a syllabus
(1) Write a statement of Course Goals and Objectives: At the end of this course, students will know and/or be able to do…….
(2) Break down the course goals into weekly goals/topics, then daily goals, then hourly goals (based on a 4 week course length)
(A) Weekly goals/topics
WEEK General focus or goal
(1) Week One
(2) Week Two
(3) Week Three
(4) Week Four
(B) Break down weekly goals/topics into daily goals/topics
Week One General focus, goal or topic

(D) Create one (1) day’s complete lesson plan (choose any day in the course) which you will contextualize within the overall plan of the course.
a. with explicit goals and objectives
b. hour by hour (or activity by activity) plan
i. time expectations, materials, etc.
Important Note (I am from Saudi Arabia; learning context should match with Saudi Arabia. The lessons in Saudi Arabia, The students are Saudi, the gender is boy and the school is a public school)
Keep the project under 30 pages (including Appendices). Please consider if material in the Appendix is actually relevant and necessary to the CDP.

This essay should be a 600-900 word essay focusing on the assigned readings from the course.
This should be a close reading essay, and should use as evidence primarily passages from the work or works that you discuss. You may not use ANY outside sources without the instructor’s approval.
• The essay should be in MLA essay format (see the attached sample essay below) and should have a self-assessment (which should answer these questions) as the first page. A works cited entry and in-text citations for each text discussed are required.
• Analytical essays should be focused on making a debatable claim about the work in question; creative essays should be focused on presenting a work or kind of work from a different angle. Informational essays or essays consisting of summary are not appropriate for either type of essay. Both types of essay should be supported with discussion of specific passages from the text(s) on which the essay is focused. The essay grading rubric can be found here for the analytical choices, and here for the creative choices.
DISCLAIMER: Originality of attachments will be verified by Turnitin. Both you and your instructor will receive the results.

Self Assessment Questions
Please answer all of the following questions in paragraph form; give as much detail as possible to help me understand how you went about writing the essay. This will allow me to better tailor my feedback to help you.
1 What topic did you decide to respond to and why?
2 If the topic allowed you to choose what works to write on, which work or works did you choose and why?
3 What do you feel are the strengths of your essay?
4 What parts of the essay do you feel are weaknesses or areas that could use more work?
5 Are there any particular parts of the essay on which you would like more feedback?
Remember that these questions should be answered in the form of a letter. See the Sample MLA Essay for an example of what the self assessment should look like.
-Using relevant theories and models critically evaluate and analyse the leadership of a 21st century leader of a (business, government or not-for-profit) organisation. If you were in the position of the leader, what could you do to be a better leader and make a stronger impact on the followers and on the situation?
-For this assignment you can select a leader from a large or a small organisation. You can select a leader from your own organisation or one that you are familiar with.
– It could be a CEO of an international organisation whom you have read about in the newspapers/biographies, or a family member who runs a small business with a few staff members. The choice of leader and organisation is yours.
Write a report in which you cover the following:
▪ A clear description of the leader, the organisation/industry, and situation/context.
▪ An evaluation of the leader by referring to concepts and theories covered in the subject (e.g. style, behaviour, traits, attitudes, power) and by referring to relevant examples and mini-cases in the textbook (where appropriate).
▪ A discussion of how you would lead differently if you were put in the same situation/s as the leader and how you could make a stronger impact on the followers and on the situation/s.
▪
It is important to demonstrate your knowledge about Leadership and to clearly reference your sources. Read about Leadership in journal articles (using AIB Online Library), books (including the textbook), business literature, etc. Note the sources and use then throughout the report.
Remember that pure description and paraphrasing is not sufficient. A good report will clearly take an analytical approach and demonstrate application of leadership concepts/theories.
In order to do well you need to structure your discussion appropriately, use good references, and clearly link recommendations to description and analysis presented earlier in the report.
Important Assignment Instructions
▪ The required word length for this assignment is 2500 words (+/- 10%).
▪ In terms of structure, presentation and style you are normally required to use:

▪ – AIB preferred Microsoft Word settings; and
▪ – Harvard style referencing (which includes in-text citations plus a reference list).
▪ These requirements are detailed in the AIB Style Guide.
▪ Reference lists for AIB assignments / projects normally contain the following number of relevant references from different sources: 6-12 (for MBA assignments).
▪ All references must be from credible sources such as books, industry related journals, magazines, company documents and recent academic articles.
Your grade will be adversely affected if your assignment contains no/poor citations and/or reference list and also if your assignment word length is beyond the allowed tolerance leve
**Instructions: structure your assignment so that it meets the following requirements. You may use headings.
1. Introduction: Approximately (250 words). Serves as a “map” of the essay/case study, outlining to the reader the key points contained in the body of the work.
2. Overview of pathophysiology (approx. 350 words, start a new paragraph), Provide a description of the pathophysiology relateds. This should include an explanation of the functional changes Mr Murray is experiencing following his left sided ischemic stroke.
3. Nursing care and rationale (approx. 1650 words, start a new paragraph). Provide a description of the nursing care and discharge requirements for Mr Murray, focusing upon Roper, Logan and Tierney’s activities of daily living of maintaining a safe environment, mobilising and communication. You must also provide a rationale for the nursing care you describe. Your rationales must be based on evidence from the academic literature and relate to the registered nurses scope of practice.
Your description of Mr Murray’s nursing care and discharge requirements should include:
– A description of the primary and secondary information you would require to plan Mr Murray’s care.
– Identification of any assessments you would need to undertake.
– A description of the nursing interventions that would be required.
– An outline of how Mr Murray’s nursing care would be evaluated.
– Identification of how you would accommodate Mr Murray’s personal preferences into his nursing care.
4. Conclusion (approx. 250 words, start a new paragraph. Summarise the key points expressed in the body of work as well as the key learning from your research.
**Tips
Describe appropriate health science that underpin nursing practice.
Consider culture/age/gender/religion.
Description of pathophysiology and linkage to symtoms: goes beyond a definition and demonstrates knowledge of functional changes related to the diagnosis and symtoms.
Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are at the centre of a new awareness for an education system adapted to 21st century job demands. While the term HOTS is widely used, it remains rather vague and disconnected from the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) Education content itself. Even in good curricula, such as Singapore’s MProSE, there is little explicit mention of HOTS. A coherent framework is needed to bind the psychology of HOTS problems, STEM knowledge and mathematical problem-solving frameworks (e.g., Polya, Schoenfeld), before students can actually benefit from those separate knowledge areas. I propose to study stable patterns in problems posed across various math subjects (algebra, geometry, analysis, etc) and investigate how much and deep have they so far, if any, implemented Bayesian inference. Broad problem classes will first be identified and indexed, and prototypes within these classes will then be identified. Secondly, relevant problem-solving heuristics will be enumerated for each prototype. Finally, the stability of the patterns across the math subject will be analysed for their usefulness in exploiting HOTS .
Basically, the dissertation work will be interested in looking at what’s been done in the area of Bayesian inference for maths problem-solving strategies deployed in self-study products.
The strategies to do statistics on would read something like:
Given a prototype problem P (e.g. prove the two given triangles are congruent), exploit the …
- axioms of the relevant theory,
– definitions (e.g. congruent triangles),
– premises of the problem,
– useful relationships from a given list, and
– useful theorems from a given list.
This exploitation mechanism is meant to see which combinations and orderings are typically used for solving a prototype problem, say for middle school (IGCSE), late high school (A Levels) or undergraduate level.
Since this dissertation intends to explore what’s out there first then exploit an optimal structure of an AL based learning, the title can also read like “Statistics on Problem-Solving Strategies in Geometry and Algebra for Bayesian Supported Decisions and Inference Networks”.
This work is not intending to touch on the pupils’ psychology because, doubtfully enough, the scope of the dissertation would allow that. Mainly, the work is into the extent to which the problems themselves can achieve the prescribed learning outcomes and how it can be improved via textual analysis and other research means.

Using 800-1,000 words, discuss methods to evaluate the effectiveness of your proposed solution and variables to be assessed when evaluating project outcomes.
Example: If you are proposing a new staffing matrix that is intended to reduce nurse turnover, improve nursing staff satisfaction, and positively impact overall delivery of care, you may decide the following methods and variables are necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of your proposed solution:
Methods:
1.Survey of staff attitudes and contributors to job satisfaction and dissatisfaction before and after initiating change.
2.Obtain turnover rates before and after initiating change.
3.Compare patient discharge surveys before change and after initiation of change.
Variables:
1.Staff attitudes and perceptions.
2.Patient attitudes and perceptions.
3.Rate of nursing staff turnover.
Develop the tools necessary to educate project participants and to evaluate project outcomes (surveys, questionnaires, teaching materials, PowerPoint slides, etc.).
