In this assignment, record the types of emotional appeals that the director has employed in order to engage our attention. Next to each appeal, determine what has happened in the film in terms of our understanding of the theme. For example, when Hurston writes about Janie’s Nanny, she notes Nanny’s tremendously difficult times in enduring the times of slavery. “Put me down easy, Janie, Ah’m a cracked plate!” she states (Hurston 19). INTERNET WEB SEARCH (ISW)

Internet Web Search (IWS) articles must be completed on specific topics assigned in order to provide challenging research practice and

current information external to the textbook.

For each IWS, the student must provide a minimum of one-page (maximum of two pages), double-spaced summarization of the highlights in

the selected article. To that end, the student must select an article that provides sufficient information for a summarization of the

material as well as information that enhances current technology or practices. The student may have to read several articles before finding one

that meets these criteria.

After the summarization information, a paragraph needs to be included which indicates your opinion about the information in the article

and whether to include the article in the course Webliography. Also, indicate your opinion about whether the article was good, fair, or not

good. After this paragraph, each article must end with the bibliographic or reference information for the article. (See example provided under

the Examples button).

When summarizing information, students must provide the information in their own words and not copy the information directly from the

source. Plagiarism is the act of copying information directly from a source without giving credit to the source for providing the information.

Only in cases where material is being quoted can the information be directly stated; however, it still must provide credit to the source.

When submitting the IWS article through SafeAssignment, it will automatically be checked for plagiarism which in turn submits the paper

to the instructor for a grade. When looking at your BlackBoard grade, successful submission of an assignment will be indicated an exclamation

mark (!) in the grade area. This exclamation mark will eventually be deleted by the instructor after the assignment has been graded and a

grade assigned. If there is no exclamation mark, this indicates no summary has been submitted or received.

When formatting IWS assignments, provide one inch top, left and right margins. Paragraphs should be indented in double-spacing. The

student’s name and the type of assignment and number should be placed at the top of the page before the title of the article and the

summarization. Double-space after that information to key the title in all caps, 14 pt. bold. The last paragraph of the IWS article should be

the bibliography or reference (who, what, when, where). When formatting the reference information use the APA style manual. If you do not

have access or did not purchase an APA style manual, students can use the Citation Machine web address (http://citationmachine.net) for

assistance on how to format your references in APA style format. On this site, select the reference (book, article, download from internet,

journal) and key in the information in the blanks provided. When a student submits the information, the citation appears in correct APA style.

Cut or copy this citation onto the bibliographic or reference section of your paper. Your paper should not have more than one reference as

you are only summarizing highlights of one article.

Research articles on the Internet about adult learners and their characteristics and select one to summarize. This IWS will provide challenging

research practice and up-to-date information external to the textbook. For each IWS, the student must provide a minimum of one-page (maximum of

two pages), double-spaced summarization of the highlights in the selected article and must indicate your opinion of the article as well as if

you believe the article should be included in the course for other students to read. Also a reference section must be completed at the end of

the assignment in APA format (see example provided under the Examples button). Make sure to include complete citations even in work that is

paraphrased. Please be sure to submit to “Safe Assignment” (plagiarism check) which in turn submits the paper to the instructor for a grade. By
