Informative Research Paper

 
Your assignment is to write a 1,000-word informative research paper on the subject of nutrition or anti-nutrition in which you document at least three sources that you have obtained from the college databases. Other sources may be used; however, you need a minimum of three articles from the database.

Follow the MLA style of documentation. A document is provided for you on the TCC Library link that details how to use this style. Go to the library link and then click on Additional Resources. Scroll down to MLA style.

Also, you can find detailed instructions for using the MLA style in the Purdue Owl Online Guide that we use as the textbook for this course.

A document was distributed in class and we spent considerable time going over the details of preparing citations and a works cited page. If you were absent, you need to see me about obtaining a copy of the document.

Introduction: Approximately 200 Words

In the introduction of the paper, you may wish to begin with a brief attention getting narrative or image that relates to the topic you are going to address in the paper. This should be no more than 4-5 sentences. Next, you need to provide any background information the reader will need to know in order to be able to understand your paper, such as definitions, statistical data, scope, or history. Also, provide the reader with a statement as to the range of opinions on this subject–meaning who would disagree with you. Finally, you need a thesis statement.

Body: Approximately 600 Words

In the body of the paper, you need to build your case. You should develop the body with major sections of thought. For example, if you are going to provide the benefits of eliminating refined sugars from the diet, then you may have four major sections of thought, each containing one of the benefits. In a different situation, you might have only two benefits that you are going to discuss in greater detail. In this situation, you may have more than one paragraph working off of the same topic sentence.
Conclusion: Approximately 200 Words
In the conclusion, present findings, conclusions, and recommendations that you are making based upon the reading that you’ve done. You may find these in articles that you’ve read. Much of this part of the paper will be your own ideas, not documented from sources.
