Case Study Analysis Paper

Case Study Analysis Paper:

ORGANIZATION/DEVELOPMENT
• Has a structure that is clear, logical, and easy to follow
• Develops a central theme or idea directed toward the appropriate audience
• Has an introduction that provides sufficient background on the topic
and previews major points
• Includes an conclusion that is logical, flows from the body of the
paper, and reviews the major points
• Contains transitions between sentences, paragraphs, and sections
that aid in maintaining the flow of thought• Uses a tone appropriate
to the content and assignment
PAPERS OUTLINE SHOULD GO KIND OF LIKE THIS:
Introduction 1-2 paragraphs
Your thesis should be stated here. Your thesis statement should
clearly identify which aspects of the case your analysis will focus
upon. For example, some students have chosen to focus on time
management or poor training in their analysis of the case. You need a
thesis statement that presents the major issues that you’ll address in
your analysis of the case. Some examples of possible thesis statements
are included below.
Background 2-3 paragraphs
Provide a summary of the basic facts of the case, highlighting the
areas that you’ve decided to focus upon in your analysis.
Key Problems 2-3 paragraphs
Discuss the key problems that Carl has encountered and offer an
explanation of why these issues have come up. This goes back to your
thesis.
Alternatives 2-3 paragraphs
Provide a few alternatives for resolving Carl’s dilemma. What are his
options? Should the orientation be rescheduled for a later date? How
would this impact other employees and the company as a whole?
Proposed Solution 1-2 paragraphs
This section should discuss how Carl’s immediate problems will be
resolved. How will he accomplish the new hires to completing their
paper work and going for physicals? Where will he hold the orientation
if it is held? By the end of your analysis, the reader should know
whether ABC’s new hire orientation will proceed as scheduled.
Recommendations 1-2 paragraphs
In this section, you should briefly sum up your analysis of the case
and offer observations about the future of ABC Inc. once the issues
you’ve identified have been addressed. What will the company need to
do over the long-term to prevent situations like Carl’s from occurring
again?

Case Study for Student Analysis
In early April, Carl Robins, the new campus recruiter for ABC, Inc.,
successfully recruited several new hires in spite of having been at
his new job for only six months; this was his first recruitment
effort.
He hired 15 new trainees to work for Monica Carrolls, the Operations
Supervisor. He scheduled a new hire orientation to take place June 15,
hoping to have all new hires working by July.
On May 15, Monica contacted Carl about the training schedule,
orientation, manuals, policy booklets, physicals, drug tests, and a
host of other issues, which Carl would coordinate for the new hires.
Carl assured Monica that everything would be arranged in time.
After Memorial Day, Carl was at his office and pulled out his new
trainee file to finalize the paperwork needed for the orientation on
June 15. While going through the files, Carl became concerned. Some of
the new trainees did not have applications completed or their
transcripts on file, and none of them had been sent to the clinic for
the mandatory drug screen. He then searched the orientation manuals
and found only three copies with several pages missing from each.
Frustrated, he went for a quick walk. Upon his return to the office,
he decided to check out the training room for the orientation. There,
he found Joe, from technology services, setting up computer terminals.
Carl reviewed the scheduling log and found that Joe had also reserved
the room for the entire month of June for computer training seminars
for the new database software implementation.
Carl panicked. He went back to his office, put his head on his desk,
and thought to himself, “What am I going to do?”

Cultural Research Paper

Throughout this course, we have learned that the primary mode of
subsistence (how a culture makes a living) impacts many other aspects
of cultural behavior and has been an effective way to organize
thoughts and studies about culture. In order to demonstrate your
understanding of subsistence modes and its impact on a culture and why
a culture acts as it does, your final research paper will require you
to:

Select a specific culture from the following list (I have selected the “Enga”):
The Batek of Malaysia
Mbuti
Enga
Semai
Huaorani of Ecuador
Nayar of India
Singapore
Tikopia of Melanesia
Basseri of Iran

Use a minimum of three scholarly research journals, ethnographies and
ethnologies as the primary sources of information.

Identify and classify the selected culture’s primary mode of
subsistence. ( Foragers, Horticulturalists, Pastoralists, Emerging
Agriculturalists, Agrarian States or Industrialists)

Analyze and explain the impact that the primary mode of subsistence of
the selected culture has on at least three of the following aspects of
culture:
Kinship
Social organization
Political organization
Economic organization
Gender relations
Beliefs and Values
Sickness and Healing
Social Change
The Final Cultural Research Paper must be eight to ten pages long and
formatted according to APA (6th edition) standards. You may use the
text as a source, but the text does not count toward the required
three scholarly journal articles/ ethnographies/ ethnologies.

you are required to submit an introductory paragraph, thesis
statement, an outline, and your properly formatted reference page with
the required sources identified.

Leadership report

As you prepare to conduct the Application Assignment – Leadership
Report, you will apply your understanding of theory and research to
identify actual leadership styles and practices that support school or
district improvement processes.

There are five stages to this Application Assignment –Leadership Report.

Stage 1: Introduction: Problem, Issue, or Topic

Assignment Directions:
o Reflect on readings about leadership style, theories, and research
to identify questions about key leadership traits, dispositions, or
practices that support school or district improvement processes.
o Review the literature with the following questions in mind: In what
way does the literature address how leaders can effectively approach
problems, issues, or topics? What leadership theory or styles are
recommended as the accepted practices that result in successful school
or district improvement processes? [Review a minimum of three (3)
current (5 YRS) articles that support leaders’ practices and
dispositions to support school or district improvement processes
o Based on your knowledge about best practices, identify two
individuals (Patricia Romendetto and Mark Alter) who demonstrate
practices and dispositions that support school or district improvement
processes.
o Select two individuals who you hope to interview and observe based
on recommendations from your colleagues.
o Extend an invitation to each individual to request an interview and
an opportunity to observe him or her in action. [Be prepared to
explain your goal for this assignment fully. [Note: you will be
collecting the data]

Write Section 1: Introduction (1-2 pages)
• Summarize your review of literature and the guiding principles or
practices leaders exhibit that result in successful school or district
improvement processes.
• Explain the collaborative process and why the two individuals were selected.
• What question do you hope to answer through this investigation?
[This guiding question is open and higher-order; it will be re-visited
in the conclusion.]

Stage 2: Data Collection Plan

Assignment Directions:
o Determine your methods for gathering information from the two (2)
different leaders.
o Focus on two distinct practices to collect data: The first set of
practices relates to the art of leadership (abstract, subjective, or
conceptual practices).
? Schedule a private interview with a leader to discuss beliefs or
dispositions about:
? Building relationships: How does the leader build relationships with
stakeholders that support school or district improvement processes?
How does the leader build trust?
? Sharing vision: How does the leader share his or her vision about
successful school or district improvement processes with the learning
community? How does the leader set benchmarks to guide change?
? Negotiating: How does the leader negotiate during controversial
discussions, especially with sensitive issues? How does the leader
delegate responsibilities?
o The second set of practices relates to the science of leadership
(concrete, objective, or actual practices). Examples of ways to gather
information about leaders’ practices and perceptions:
? Schedule an observation of each leader during an interaction to
identify practices related to:
? Meetings: How does the leader conduct meetings? What practices are
observed that promote or inhibit respect and honor of individual
differences?
? Questioning: How does the leader use questions to build understanding?
? Decision making: How does the leader bring a group to a consensus?
What strategies are practiced?
o Design your instruments to gather and document the information.
o Present your ideas for gathering data to colleagues for feedback.
o Modify your work as appropriate and justified.

Write Section 2: Data Collections (3-5 pages)
• Explain in one to two paragraphs how you accomplished the directions
for Section 2.
• Provide the actual instruments to document your data. You will
include two documents (one for each leader):
• Construct five open-ended questions for the interview, and explain
how you will document the information.
• Describe the observational protocol, criteria, or indicators that
you will be observing or noting as you document practices or actions.
Note exactly what you observe, when, and how long.

Stage 3: Results
Assignment Directions:
• Collect, manage, and organize the data in files, charts, or grids.
• Read all of the documentation; take notes (color-code) when you see
replication, category, or a pattern.
• Describe, classify, compare, and contrast the documented findings.
• Interpret the data and present findings in a systematic matrix or list.

Write Section 3: Results (2-3 pages)
• Systematically explain each source of data and then identify
commonalities and contrasts among and between the data sources.
• Describe the strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in your data to
colleagues to elicit feedback.
• Synthesize the data to report your findings or results of the study.

Stage 4: Conclusion
Assignment Directions:
• Based on the findings or result from Section 3, select 2-3
conclusions or findings that you can make about effective practices
and dispositions that support school or district improvement
processes.
• The conclusions will provide the premise for guiding your review of
literature to identify research-based strategies or practices to
promote or foster positive change and support school or district
improvement processes.

Write Section 4: Conclusion (1-2 pages)
• Re-visit, state, and address the initial question stated in Section 1.
• Explain how the data provided responds to the guiding question.
• Construct 2 – 3 conclusions supported by the data.
• Explain how these conclusions will guide your review of literature
to identify research-based strategies or practices to promote or
foster positive change and support school or district improvement
processes.

Stage 5: Recommendations or Applications for Future Practices

Assignment Directions:
o Identify key or search terms in your conclusions that will guide
your review of literature.
o Only review literature in peer-reviewed journals within the past 5 years.
o Select a minimum of three sources that address your data-driven
conclusions from Section 4.

Write Section 5: Recommendations or Applications for Future Practices
(2-3 pages)
o Based on the conclusions in Section 4, construct a practice, plan,
or leadership style that you plan to adopt.
o Justify your practice, plan, or leadership style by citing at least
three (3) or more current (within 5 years, peer-reviewed) resources
from the literature that support it.
o Reflect on this Application Assignment as you convince the reader
why your decisions are timely, pertinent, and appropriate.
