Criminal Homicide U.K. vs U.S.

Step 1. CHOOSE: 5 Tables or Figures or a Combination
In Week 8 you read Chapter 2 of Brookman, “Patterns and Characteristics of Homicide in the UK.”
This chapter provided a description of:
(1) Homicide Counts, Rates, and Trends; and
(2) Characteristics of Offenders, Victims, and Circumstances.
There are 14 Tables and 8 Figures in Chapter 2.
After reading Chapter 2, you must choose 5 Tables, Figures, or a Combination.
Your choices will enable you to engage in a Comparative Analysis of Homicide Data between the US and the UK.
Because the sizes of the respective countries are so different, you must focus on only those tables and figures that
provide Rates and Percentages as this type of data is not susceptible to population disparities.
• You cannot directly compare Count or Frequency data between the two countries because the population
disparity is so immense between the US and the UK.
• Some Brookman tables are not easy to recreate using the US Homicide data.
• Others can be created quite easily.
• Some Tables do not have any US analogues at all and are shown below as CANNOT USE.
• Some Tables you can choose, but they are bad choices – please see above.
YOUR CHOICE OF THE 5 TABLES FROM BROOKMAN CHAPTER 2 IS CRUCIAL
Step 2. GET THE US DATA TO MATCH YOUR FIVE BROOKMAN TABLES
Below is a list of all the Brookman tables and figures and where you go to create the US data:
BROOKMAN: Where to get US Data: Step 3. CREATE THE US TABLE TO MATCH THE BROOKMAN TABLE
Step 4. Explain why you chose the five (5) tables/figures that you found the most interesting.
20pts.
Step 5. Compare the 5 tables/figures from Brookman to the 5 tables/figures for the US and discuss the
70pts. similarities or differences.
Step 6. * Include in your paper the Brookman Tables and the comparison US Tables and Figures.
10pts. * You can scan the Brookman tables and insert them into the Appendix or retype them.
* You do not need to try to put any Brookman Figures into the paper. Only her Tables.
Basically your goal is to compare and contrast the homicide data for the two countries to demonstrate the
extent to which aspects of homicide in the two countries are alike and where they are different.

Second Language Acquisition

It’s a research paper based on the TEFL online program so I chose Second Language Acquisition towards Asians as my topic. Asians referring to Chinese, Japanese, Korean. It could be Asian or a specific type of Asian. What should also be included is a research indicating the factors that affect their second language capability.
Also, I would need a question to be the title’s name.

Martitime Economics

Have attached the task. For task 1 you must complete THREE spreadsheets. Then also send THREE spreadsheets with the formulas.

For task 2 you must use the additional/rider clauses to the cal charter party/CoA (Volcoa) sheet. I have also attached other stuff you may need.

You are operations assistant for a dry bulk ship owner, responsible for the commercial operation of the companys supramax bulk carriers. The company is considering bidding for the annual shipment of coal to Pakistan Steel Terminal at Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, Karachi.

The tender notice contract invites freight offers (US$ per tonne) for the transport of 850,000 tonnes (10% CHOPT) of coal to Pakistan Steel IOC Terminal, by shipment size of 50,000t (10% CHOPT) from three loading ports as follows:
????? Port Gladstone (Australia)
???? Port Newcastle (Australia)
???? Port Roberts Bank (Canada)
450,000 tonnes 200,000 tonnes 200,000 tonnes.
Write a report for the Operations Manager, which includes the following:
TASK 1 (30%)
Calculate the cost per tonne of coal for a round voyage from each load port to the Pakistan Steel Terminal and return, based on shipment size 50,000t plus 10%. Calculate the Time Charter Equivalent (TCE) for each round voyage, assuming CoA freight rate of $25 per tonne from Gladstone and Newcastle and $35 per tonne from Roberts Bank. Determine the maximum ship deadweight on each round voyage and the minimum number of ships required to complete the CoA.
TASK 2 (20%)
Summarise the ship owners obligations and liabilities in the Additional/Rider clauses to the coal charter party/CoA (Volcoa), in respect of:
a. Requirements for ships on the CoA.
b. Nominating ships
c. Notice of arrival at the load and discharge ports.
d. Cargo operations in port.
All statements must be referenced to the relevant clause.
TASK 3 (30%)
Recommend, with reasons, whether the company should submit a bid for this contract. In making your recommendation, discuss factors such as ship costs and revenue over the contract period (including the implications of the charterers option to ship 50,000t less 10%), clauses of concern, current and future freight market conditions and any other considerations.
REPORT (20%)
The report will be marked on structure, presentation and writing style. Report format is to be used, e.g. Executive Summary; Contents; Introduction; Terms of Reference; Results of Tasks 1, 2 & 3; Conclusions; Reference List and Appendices. Referencing and reference list in Harvard style. The Appendices should include the spread sheets, spread sheet formulae, fuel price list and port cost calculations.

The Strategic Management Process: Theories, Concepts, Tools and Application
Successful general managers are highly competent in problem identification and analysis and have a strong action orientation. One purpose of this unit is to provide an environment that will allow students to hone these skills, while at the same time gain a conceptual understanding of the strategic manager’s task. Assignment three has two tasks that require you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in strategic management.

First, you are required to develop a one page (A4) detailed schematic table or diagram that presents a comprehensive overview of the core theories, concepts and tools used by strategic managers who need to have an in-depth understanding of generic problems in all relevant functional areas of a firm or organisation. These theories, concepts and tools are covered in this unit and the unit’s textbook.

A schematic table is a presentation of the elements of a system or process, in this case the strategic management process. It should be visually powerful, appealing, informative, and presented in a logical order to reflect the overall integrity of the strategic management system or process. You can choose a small font, coloured boxes and different shapes. Acronyms may be used as headings, but each word within the acronym must be shown. At a minimum, your schema should include, but is not limited to:
• External environmental analysis (SMFA & PESTLE)
• Industry analysis (Porter’s 5 forces of competition)
• Resource model (TO + WS)
• Mission, vision, values
• Value chain analysis
• 5 generic business level strategies
• Managing relationships with customers
• Corporate strategy (vertical and horizontal integration, diversification, portfolio analysis)
• Co-operative, Competitive, International & M&A strategies.
• Diamond of national advantage
• Leadership
• Corporate governance
• Structure and controls.

Second, you are required to select three of the above concepts and discuss how Quantas has utilised them to create value. You are limited to 250 words per concept(750 in total).
An example of a partial schema (without content) is given below as a guide only. You are free to use other creative formats.
