V1b – Elevator Pitch Feedback
Providing feedback to others can often be a learning experience for both parties, the person receiving the feedback as well as the person providing it. For this assignment, you will provide feedback for at least two other people in the class on their elevator pitches that they recently uploaded to YouTube. It is critical for this assignment that you provide feedback to your classmates in a kind and considerate manner. We all have strengths and weaknesses, and the idea here is to help each other improve so that your next two pitches (phone and conference) can be even better than your elevator pitches.

To complete this assignment, please do the following:
1. Find at least two other people in this course to form a group of at least 3 but no more than 5. To find other students to form your group, please do NOT use this “Elevator Pitch Feedback” discussion board. Instead, use the “Student Questions Discussion Board” found in the Discussion Board forum. NOTE: If a person needs a group and you still have space, be a kind and considerate “networker” and welcome that person to your group.
2. Within the group, determine who will provide feedback for whom, keeping in mind that each person needs to PROVIDE feedback for at least 2 other people, and that each person should RECEIVE feedback from at least two other people. For example, If you only have 3 people in your group, you each must provide feedback for the other two. If you have 4 people (A, B, C, D), you can elect to each provide to the other three if you’d like, or you can do it as follows: A provides for B & C; B provides for C & D; C provides for D & A; D provides for A & B. For 5 in a group, it would work in a similar fashion. Once you have your group and you’ve determined your feedback procedure (that is, who provides feedback to whom), it’s time to provide your YouTube URL to each member (or at least to those who are evaluating you) so that they provide you with feedback.
3. To provide the feedback, watch the person’s Elevator Pitch and then write up a short set of bullet points for the person, mentioning two areas in which each person can improve, as well as two things the person did well. For each person you evaluate, you’ll list the person’s first and last name and then the four bullet points (two positive and two improvements). Make each bullet point a complete sentence. (NOTE: using words like “it would be good if you would…” or “you would sound better if you…” or “I would suggest not doing…” or similar phrases may come across much better than “don’t do this” or “that’s not the right way,” etc.)
4. Finally, write down three things that you learned from this assignment of evaluating other elevator pitches. Use a complete sentence for each learned item and present them in bullet point form (numbered bullet points would be best).
5. Copy and paste the information from Step 3 and Step 4 into one entry on this “Elevator Pitch Feedback” forum. Do NOT include any attachments. In other words, you’ll provide the feedback for the (at least) two people as one post in this discussion forum (as well as your three sentences discussing what you learned from the assignment). PLEASE DO NOT MAKE MULTIPLE POSTS! (You’re welcome to email or otherwise share the feedback with your team members directly if you’d like.)
6. Once you’re done, read through the various suggestions, feedback, observations, etc. to learn how you can improve your own performance for the next assignments, as well as how to improve your “real life” elevator pitches.

This can be a great assignment for learning from both the giving and receiving parts of the feedback portion, as well as scanning through the various comments other students have made about their group members. Overall, remember to be cordial, considerate, and professional because all interactions are potential networking opportunities.
