protests implode (fail) while other explode (succeed)?

that showcase the following: Objective (Goal), Method (Passive Resistance/Active Resistance), Outcome
(2) Explain the effectiveness of your assigned protest: Short term effect. Long term effect, Legislation (proposed laws, rules).,
