Discuss what you believe it means to promote “progressive emergency management.” During your exploration of this subject, define what it means to be
progressive. Then discuss three of the steps mentioned in this week’s lecture that emergency managers might take to reduce the frequency and
severity of disasters. Include all of the objectives.

1. Recognize the rising toll and impact of disasters, and the need for a more proactive approach to emergency management.
2. Identify alternative approaches to reduce disasters by enhancing sustainability, resistance and resilience.
