You are required to choose a company from the leisure sector or the automotive industry.
Assuming that the name of the chosen company is called “STO701 Limited” and you have been employed as a Knowledge Management Officer (KMO) for this company. The General Manager has invited you to write a business report on how knowledge management could enhance the performance of this organisation. The report should specifically address the following areas:
. a) Explain how the concept of knowledge management (KM) relates to data and information.
. b) Discuss the relationship between KM and business decision making processes.
. c) Discuss typical architecture of knowledge-based systems (KBS).
. d) Through quantitative and/or qualitative data collection techniques, look critically 
into the business operations of STO701 Limited and identify where (and how) improvements could be made to the business performance. Use the collected data to address the following:
•Identify any problems with existing business operations of STO701 Limited with respect to knowledge management and decision processes.
•Analyse your results using relevant data analysis techniques and present 
them with the support of visual aids such as graphs, figures, tables, etc.
•Discuss the types of knowledge that will be required by managers (at 
different levels/hierarchies) of STO701 Limited for effective decision 
•Discuss different

•From your findings, develop a conceptual knowledge management

Marking Criteria
Marks will be awarded according to the following criteria:
•Overall presentation and coherence of submission (10%): Good title, clear structure (contents page); clarity and conciseness of the issues covered in the report.
•Understanding of concepts and content (15%): Literature review with good sources included and some assessment /summary of published work. An exposition of relevant literature related to knowledge management and decision making in your chosen organisation.
•Critical judgment in selecting and ordering content. Reasonable knowledge management conceptual framework and decision models, good data collection, analysis and presentation techniques using suitable diagrams, tables, graphs and knowledge base (50%): Joined up thinking: From title to argument to conclusion (Evaluation- Synthesis-Analysis).
•Structure of argument and conclusions which relate to the topic (15%): a comprehensive, interesting reflection on your learning.
•Proactivity in extent and range of research as evidenced by content and bibliography (10%). Building an Argument – using your references adeptly. 
The submission as a whole should be no more than 3,000 words (excluding references, tables, figures and other appendices). For this assignment there is a 10% margin on the word count. That means that you should be writing somewhere between 2700 – 3300 words. Work that exceeds the 10% margin will fail. Please ensure that your report addresses the assessment brief and meet the stated marking criteria.
