DB VII

Should there be true anonymity available to people on the internet or should there be an information super-highway driver license required for use? Americans are accustomed to a certain amount of freedom and what they believe is privacy. Is it reasonable to change the rules for internet use? If so would that make things better or worse? Historically, whenever a government has deprived the people of something, they have created a secondary market for it: gambling, liquor, drugs, sex, guns, and even information. Are we in danger of forcing those users who want privacy to an underground or less visible option? Oh, for instance some kind of darknet?
Explain your position on privacy v. governmental intrusion, but be sure to address the intended and likely unintended consequences of you policy.
