Final Assignment

Assignment Instructions
The Final Paper assesses the final two Course objectives:

CO-4 Analyze the current trends and manifestations of terrorism and consequent challenges they pose for U.S. national security policies.
CO-5 Apply contemporary theories and methods derived from anti- and counter-terrorism policies to US national security issues.

This 6- page policy paper is due at the end of week 8. Similar to the Midterm, you will rely on the course readings, but you may include current event examples from approved news sources (The Foreign Policy Magazine, Foreign Affairs, the Economist, CNN, BBC). You may also use official sites of the U.S. federal agencies (CIA.org, FBI.org, and so forth).

You are the National Security Adviser to the President. Your role is to determine the agenda for National Security Council, a principal foreign policy forum, ensuring that all national security papers are prepared according to the Council’s objectives and President’s decisions. One of your most critical tasks is to prepare a National Security Strategy, which is a comprehensive document, providing a clear set of directives to meet the U.S. most critical national security goals. While the Strategy document requires team work and input from different national security agencies, your initial task is to prepare a proposal, focused on terrorism.

The 2014 National-Strategy Proposal is a 6–page document that describes an overall plan on how to prevent and reduce terrorism. It must include the following elements:

Introductory part: Only about a page long. What is the goal of national-security policy? What have your learned about terrorism, and how has it evolved?

Analytical Section: 4 pages long. In this section, you will describe current terrorist trends, threats and focus areas. Then, you will apply anti and counter-terrorist policies. Because we did not include any past policy in our readings, you will use the last three week’s readings that have policy elements and suggestions, written by scholars with different views. You will need to review these policy ideas to formulate your own. Using previous National Security documents is not allowed.

Concluding section: Summary with a clearly stated path forward, about a page long.

Submit your finished paper as a 6-page double-spaced word document in 12 pt. font. Use the Turabian Reference Style with in-text citations to reference all sources, including the course readings. Don’t forget to write a Reference List at the end of your paper.

Hate Crime and Terrorism

In a 1-page (450-500 words) essay, state one research questions and two research hypotheses (H1-H2) related to your topic that you can investigate empirically. First, formulate these as relationships between abstract concepts that speak to your research question. They should also reflect the literature you have reviewed, if only because they improve upon preexisting research. If you think your articles were off the mark, here is your chance to examine the research problem more validly. Then, restate your hypotheses as concrete connections between measurable variables. Identify and operationalize the dependent variable (DV) and independent variable (IV) for each hypothesis. Likewise, for each hypothesis identify and operationalize two control variables that are not be in your hypothesis but may affect the observed outcomes (e.g., demographic factors like gender, race, class, etc.).
My topic is on Hate Crime and Terrorism

Terrorism and Hate Crime

The final paper will comprise of a full thesis proposal, which will reflect students’ abilities to critically evaluate the research in an area of criminal justice, design an empirical or analytical study, and write an academic style research proposal. It will also be used to assess whether students can use Criminal Justice Abstracts, Criminal Justice Periodicals Index, and/or NCJRS Abstracts Database effectively. The final paper will begin with a thesis/problem statement and a literature review in which students are required to surveys scholarly works relevant to their particular area of research, providing a summary and critical evaluation of extant literature. The goal is to propose and justify new research questions and a pertinent, detailed research plan that could advance our current state of knowledge.

Your thesis proposal must not exceed 15 double-spaced pages or 7,500 words in 12-point font with 1-inch margins. Title page, abstract, charts, figures, references/bibliography, and appendixes do not count toward the 15-page limit for the proposal. The proposal should include:

a. Title page.

b. Abstract (not to exceed 250 words).

c. Main body, which includes:

Purpose / statement of problem.
Review of relevant literature.
Research questions and hypotheses.
Research design and methods.
Data limitations and ethical challenges
Significance and implications for criminal justice policy and practice.
d. Appendixes (not counted against program narrative page limit) include:

Pop Culture Assignment

– FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED NEITHER TO CITE NOR USE REFERENCES, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO DEMONSTRATE CREATIVITY AND OF COURSE MAKE A GOOD ANALYSIS. YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO OBTAIN THE IMAGE/THING YOU ARE GOING TO ANALYZE FROM THE INTERNET, THE REST HAS TO BE IN YOUR OWN WORDS
Popular Culture Assignment:

Terrorism has had a large impact on cultures and societies throughout the world. In particular, terrorism is increasingly influencing the face of popular culture (also known as “pop culture”). What is pop culture? Pop culture is defined as “cultural activities or commercial products reflecting, suited to, or aimed at the tastes of the general masses”, especially youth and young adults (Dictionary.com). Examples of pop culture are found in popular music, print, sports, entertainment (television, movies, etc.), leisure, advertising, etc. For this assignment, you are tasked with finding an example of terrorism being referenced in/by an item of pop culture. For example, you may find a song, television show, or movie that includes lyrics or dialogue about terrorism. Or, you may see a t-shirt or poster that references a particular terrorist group or terrorist. You may even find an action figure or bumper sticker that references terrorism in some way. It can be something you find on the internet or in daily life. Also, your example can come from any country as long as you are able to accurately decipher and convey the meaning of it. Once you find your example, take a picture or screen shot of it. Then, write a summary (300-500 words minimum) describing what your example is, where you found it, how it demonstrates terrorism in pop culture, and any other comments/incite you have.

Bonus: I challenge you to try to find the most unique/interesting example possible. I will choose a select number of students’ examples to discuss during lecture. (Examples will be discussed anonymously.) Students will vote in class on which one they think is the most unique/interesting. The winner will receive 2% extra credit added onto their final cumulative score for the course. The student with the winning example must be present to receive the extra credit. If the student is not present, the extra credit will go to the example with the next highest votes where the student is present.

Note: Nonfiction documentaries or books about terrorism do not count.

FINAL PAPER (TERRO..

Pleasant day! I hope this finds you well after the typhoon.
As you know, you did the outline slides for the class of Principles of Terrorism, which you can find it here with this order as an attachment, and now it is the time for this important paper that accounts for 30% from the final grade of the whole course, SO PLEASE WORK ON IT IN A LEVEL THAT ALLOWS ME TO RECEIVE THE FULL MARK.
As you know, the outline was discussing why Iran is sponsoring the terrorism, so go ahead and expand it in a 15-PAGE final paper (NOT INCLUDING THE REFERENCE PAGE(s) ) and use at least 13 references to do this big paper and there will be a special bonus if I receive the full mark or full mark-1 (I swear and promise(: )
Note: that I not only need the different points that have been mentioned in the outline only, BUT Create new issues related to this topic and make the paper in general to be convincing. So, expand what has been mentioned in the attached you did for outline + make new points to let the professor knows that the final paper not just expand what is already existent but also comes with something new to create a wonderful and convincing paper. One example of the important issues mentioned in the outline the how Iran tries every year to disturb the season of Hajj and makes it out of its goal by garbing the political issue and the sect differences between Sunnis and Shiites Muslims, because Iran is Shiite and Saudi Arabia is Sunni country, which spread fear between Hajjs (pilgrims) like what Iran did in 1987 and this year 2015.
Waiting for the best paper ever!

Partnered Counterterrorism Operations in the Philippines

I need assistance preparing (1) a 900 word Paper, then using that same Paper, preparing (2) a 200 word Abstract. I need both the Paper and Informative Abstract completed by Saturday, September 12, latest.
Here are the instructions:
Using Case Study, ?Partnered Counterterrorism Operations in the Philippines? as background, and with consideration of operational effectiveness, discuss in detail how US forces ineffectively applied two elements of operational design while developing and refining their operational approach. Also discuss how at least two of the following factors (region, culture, religion, policy changes, and political developments) shaped the planning and execution of the operation. Fully support and defend your answer using logic and citations of supporting material where appropriate (course material, doctrine, outside sources).

War and Terrorism

Book: Ethics in Practice. An Anthology 4th edition by Hugh Lafollette

Purpose is to discuss the ideas of at least one author from the text. Discussion is to include at least one paragraph explaining their ideas and at least another showing how those ideas relate to the example you have chosen.

The introduction must inform the reader of the topic you will address, mention any sources you plan to draw from in making your argument (such as the specific example of the issue you are writing about and the authors whose ideas you will discuss), and indicate the specific point the essay is intended to support (also known as your “thesis”). It is often good to open with a general statement of an important problem, a rhetorical question, or some sort of dramatic flourish which will attract your reader’s interest before narrowing in on the specifics of the paper.

ii. The “body” of your essay should present the relevant details of the example you are using immediately after the introduction. The example may be real or fictional (e.g. taken from a film), but it cannot be a hypothetical of your own invention. The point is that in principle, respect for your reader dictates that you should use an example which leaves them the option of fact-checking your details instead of having to depend on you for their accuracy. In some cases, if the author makes reference to a real case, further research on (and presentation of) the details of that case may suffice, but merely mentioning an example from the text will not suffice. To demonstrate a strong understanding of the ideas, you need to show how they apply to an example that is not already explained to you.

iii. Next, present the ideas of the author which you will use to analyze the example. Do so in enough detail to show you have understood those ideas well. This means demonstrating that you understand not only the conclusion(s) the author supports, but also his/her reasons for doing so.

iv. Show how those ideas apply to your example, indicating what you believe the author would have to say about it and why. The point here is that I want to see whether you can correctly show the author’s ideas apply in cases where that application is not already explained to you.

v. Offer your reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with what you presented in step iv. (If you are only writing about one author, this step might turn out to be your conclusion.)

vi. If you are discussing a second author, step iii must be repeated with regard to their ideas as well.

vii. If you are discussing a second author, step iv must also be repeated. Note: if you plan to support one and oppose the other, discuss the one you oppose first.

viii. If you are discussing a second author, step iv must also be repeated. (If you are discussing two authors, this step may turn out to be your conclusion.)

ix. If you have additional observations of your own to add, or broader claims to make regarding the point you have shown in this paper, place them in the final paragraph, which will then be your conclusion. If you have personal experiences to relate, which shed light on your reasons for thinking as you do, this would be the best place to present them(this may mean your concluding section turns out to be more than just one paragraph).
