MUN Research Paper

MUN Research Paper

Country: Austria
Committee: DISEC (GA-1)
Topic: Illegal small arms trade

This is a research paper . First discuss about the issue. Then how you country is affected by the issue. Then what your country is doing to solve the issue or what will be done. Then how UN as a whole can do to help. Usually you can ask UN to provide aids or vice versa.
Research on gun control policy or smuggling fire arms across boarder
ou can’t use personal statements and stuff. Everything has to be from a neutral, detailed point of view of your country. You position paper has to be written – its basically your stance on the question/or debate or whatever the topic of discussion is. Also, finding out like countries that have similar outlooks as you do. you should research GA since it is a big comittee
prepare a speech that is not general but specializes in one subtopic out of the big picture
and keep pursuing that throughout the committee
Austria is a european country
so contact other EU member states and form a group
This is a bit lengthy, but I think it has good details on all the areas: http://www.nmun.org/ny13_downloads/Delegate%20Prep%20Guide%202013.pdf
Austria’s policies about arms trade, and then specifically about small arms trade. Figuring out how much illegal trade is going on is crucial; if they have policies against it then obviously you’ll have to talk about what it needs to be like fixed. But, I wouldn’t completely trust me on this.
Possibly starting from here: http://www.bmeia.gv.at/en/foreign-ministry/foreign-policy/disarmament/conventional-weapons/small-arms-and-light-weapons.html
This is more of a blog-ish thing: http://teenink.com/opinion/current_events_politics/article/352455/Small-Arms-and-Light-Weapons-Control-Austrias-Perspective/
