You work in a steel construction business. The paint division has very sophisticated filtrationand monitoring systems to ensure that the air pollution by the paint it uses is minimal. The business is very successful and routinely secures large projects like bridges and other largeconstruction jobs. The Government recently declared the zone where you have your main factory a “high air quality area” which means that only paints with less than 70g/L of VOCs
(volatile organic compounds) can be used. This area was classed as requiring high quality restrictions because it routinely suffered from very poor quality air. However, many of the paints the business uses especially on high exposure steel have higher VOCs. Relocating the plant is going to be extremely expensive, lower VOC paint will reduce the quality of the 1finished job. The project manager has suggested a solution: do the painting on the job, mostly outside the high air quality zone. Routine exemptions are granted for work done in the field anyway. The law will allow it, but it will mean that higher levels of VOCs will be released into the atmosphere since the sophisticated filtration systems cannot be deployed in the field. What does your team recommend?

The decision making model as applied in the following situation as follows:

4.Alternative courses of action.
5.Possible outcomes.
6.Acceptable alternatives.
7.Plan of action.
8.Implement the plan.
9.Evaluation.

Case Scenario: A 6-year-old develops a high fever accompanied by violent vomiting and convulsions while at school. The child is rushed to a nearby hospital. The attending physician makes a diagnosis of meningitis and requests permission to initiate treatment from the parents. The child’s parents are divorced. The mother, who is not the biological parent of the child, has primary custody. She is a Christian Scientist who insists that no medical treatment be offered for religious reasons. The biological father, who resides in another state, is also contacted. He insists that treatment be given and seeks independent consultation from another physician.
In a formal, written paper of 800-1,200 words, answer the following questions:
What is the ethical dilemma here?
Describe the decision-making model you selected from your readings
How would you resolve this dilemma using the model?
Include, at the end of your paper, a 200-word dialog in which you explain your decision to the family. (Remember to use language that the family would understand).

There is a sophisticated construction of paragraphs and transitions. Ideas progress and relate to each other. Paragraph and transition construction guide the reader. Paragraph structure is seamless.
Writer is clearly in command of standard, written, academic English. All format elements are correct.
