Project Management- Project Charter

use assessment marking guide to flow with the charter in responding- or how to address the questions looking at those marks. It is below the course description paper but now you are looking at assignment one.

In defining the project you need to do it in three and half or so sentences.

Background of the organisation- 2 good paragraphs.

Expected outcomes: Do five smart objectives. When you get to the milestones…you are repeating the five objectives (Smart) and their due dates. Showing progress through the project-Matrix here. On the financial, i am attaching a separate document. What is in white stays the same…what is in yellow you can change-this is on the section of the financial analysis. The table is already done so you are estimating what is need for the project like initial cost etc etc. If you don’t understand let me know. Lets do distinction. Do in text ref where you feel it is reasonable remember this is a charter. Anyway when you read the assignment one…you will see all the requirements and pay attention to the marking guide. Answer the way the question is asked but read
Detailed marking criteria can be found in the Marking Guides section of this course description with other info which needs to be in the charter e.g risk analysis- what is major and what else…And go to that requirements to be addressed.

Assignment 3-4

This is an essay exam and should not be organized like an academic paper. I suggest answering each question with your word processor then carefully proofreading before copy/pasting into the boxes provided. Quote correctly from the texts when necessary to back up your assertions and show your understanding.

Part of what Im doing here is checking to see if you know how to introduce and comment on quotations, and if you know how to select appropriate quotations that support the point youre trying to make. Here is a copy/paste from the Virtual Salt website.

1. Introduce your quotations. A quotation should never suddenly appear out of nowhere. Some kind of information about the quotation is needed. Name the author, give his or her credentials, name the source, give a summary. You won’t do all of these each time, but you should usually name the author. For example:

a. But John Jones disagrees with this point, saying, “Such a product would not sell.”

b. In an article in Time Fred Jackson writes that frogs vary in the degree of shyness they exhibit: “The arboreal tree frogs seem to be especially. . . .”

2. Discuss your quotations. Do not quote someone and then leave the words hanging as if they were self-explanatory. What does the quotation mean and how does it help establish the point you are making? What is your interpretation or opinion of it? Quotations are like examples: discuss them to show how they fit in with your thesis and with the ideas you are presenting. Remember: quotations support or illustrate your own points. They are not substitutes for your ideas and they do not stand by themselves.

It is often useful to apply some interpretive phrasing after a quotation, to show the reader that the you are explaining the quotation and that it supports your argument:

Here we see that

This statement shows

Clearly, then,

We can conclude from this that

This tells us that

From this we can understand that
Below is the rubric I will use in evaluating your paper.

Quality: A good response will have a focus that will interest the reader and will not be totally obvious. It will go beyond class discussion and show evidence of your own thought.
20

Accuracy: You should not distort the works or conveniently leave out evidence that doesnt fit your purpose. While varying interpretations are possible, you must be correct about the factual details of the works.
20

Clarity: I must be able to understand what you’re saying, and your rationale for your rankings must be developed in enough detail that I can understand you.
20

Quotation: You must refer to the texts by direct quotation and paraphrase in order to back up your assertions. You must incorporate quotations gracefully into your discussion, introducing them and commenting on their significance. Remember that the quotation doesnt speak for itself you are the interpreter. If you are unsure about how to do this, see “Using Quotations Effectively” below.
20

Format and Editing: Your work must be spell-checked and carefully proofread. You must have a reasonable command of the conventions of formal academic writing Name your file Lastname,Assn 3. Include a Works Cited page in MLA format, in which you list all sources referred to in your paper

Matrix

Write 800-1000 words. Without making any reference to the film “The Matrix”, use the essay from Matrix and Philosophy entitled “Real Genre…” by Knight and McKnight to state and explicate, in a way that clarifies main ideas, how popular, contemporary works of science fiction are typically not pure or singular in genre, but are rather works of hybrid-form or so-called “mixed genre”. This part of the essay should be 350-400 words and demonstrate both relevance to the assignment and reading comprehension. Once this is complete, answer this next question: What are the second (not first) genres of “Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan” and “Which Planet Are You From”, because of which both films are truly mixed genre films? For both films, show this by discussing elements such as statements, scenes and/or themes that demonstrate a second genre at work.
Source: “Real Genre and Virtual Philosophy by Deborah Knight and Goerge McKnight” from the book called “The Matrix and Philosophy edited by William Irwin”
Guidelines (points deducted for multiple violations of the following rules):

1. Papers typed and double-spaced with normal margins and 11 or 12 point font
2. Do not use a cover page or cover of any kind. Put your name, word-count, date, and paper title in the top left corner of the paper.
3. An essential preparatory step is to first reread (review) the relevant works before you start. With the questions in mind, mark relevant passages to include in your essays.
4. Answer the entire stated questions with the appropriate focus on the main issues.
5. Don’t be narrative driven or chronological in treating texts from beginning to end.
6. Use reviews and plot summaries from the internet as needed, but do cite sources correctly.
7. For citations, in-text references are sufficient. When quoting, use quotation marks
8. For in-text citation, page numbers go in parentheses after quotation marks, not within.
9. Take care of your sentences. Proofread and edit for grammar, flow, and coherence.
10. Use pronouns correctly. Avoid use of “this” and “that” if references are vague.
11. Don’t quote without explication and don’t exceed 20 words for any one quotation.
12. Use basic structure of introduction, body, and conclusion
13. Introduction should indicate knowledge of essay-specifics, not just vague generalizations

essay

this is a exam essay, it have three questions, please help me find the answers based on the slides, handbooks and you own critial thinking. do not need reference, because the answer I will write for the exam?

One of the following scenarios (either A or B or C) will be set and you will need to answer all questions associated with it. You will not know until the exam which question will be set so it is best to prepare for all. We will practice similar scenarios in the lectures.

Scenario A
A leading successful electronic company has been accused of unsustainable working practices. Their carbon footprint is high due to high energy costs and wastage, both due to their own business practices and also due to how their products are marketed, used and disposed of by their customers.

Question 1. Is this an ethical issue? In your answer explain why with reference to which stakeholders are affected and how, and with brief reference to up to three ethical theories/moral philosophers. (35%)

Question 2. How can this issue be addressed at:
a) The individual level e.g. assuming you are a senior manager at this firm (15%)
b) The organisational level (i.e. by the company) (20%)
c) Sector level (i.e. electronic industry) (10%)
d) Institutional level (this includes national and global governmental and non-governmental institutions) (15%)
Consider what could be done to address this issue at each of these levels. Where do you think the most effective changes can occur? Give real life examples where you can to illustrate your points.
Scenario B.
Jeff manages the highest performing sales team in his computer software company. Jeff took over the group 9 months ago and is pleased that they have been able to continue the high sales figures under his leadership. But lately he has been finding himself losing sleep over a growing list of questionable practices. He recognizes the intense pressure his team are under to meet and even exceed their targets pressures that come from the company, on the one hand, and from the intense personal competitiveness that his salespeople bring to their jobs on the other. And then there are the bonuses, and the desire to please, in order to retain customers. Nevertheless, over the past few months, as he becomes more familiar with his staff and their routines, Jeff sees evidence of activities that worry him:
sales representatives who make unrealistic promises to customers that put the software developers under huge pressure to meet impossible deadlines
sales representatives who interact inappropriately with customers (for example, Jeff has heard rumours of representatives sharing pornography via the company e-mail), in order to win their loyalty
sales representatives who over-promise or who use special promotions inappropriately in order to seal the deal
sales representatives who submit unrequested credit financing applications for their customers in order to get the associated bonus (in this instance, one of the administrators processing the request approached Jeff because the paperwork looked wrong to him).
Not all of the sales representatives behave this way, and some have left for reasons unknown. Jeff is concerned about these practices for many reasons; he is also worried about affecting the motivation of his staff who are achieving high sales.

Question 1. Perform an ethical analysis by answering the following questions:

1a) Who benefits from the current practices? (10%)

1b) Who is harmed by the current practices? (10%)

1d) What are the legal requirements? Are these being met? (5%)

1e) What are the ethical duties? Make reference to three ethical theories/philosophers covered in the course. (25%)
Question 2. Assume that Jeff wants to take the most ethical course of action. How could he go about this? What barriers or difficulties may he face and what suggestions do you have for how he may overcome these? (50%)

(advice: allow about 50% of your word count for Q1. 1a-1d should be very brief, and allow more space for 1e).

Scenario C
Sarah has just joined a firm of independent financial consultants. She finds out that the advisors, who are supposed to be independent as they are paid by their client, always steer their clients towards the financial products where they receive the highest commission, rather than the one that is best for their client. This seems to be a clear conflict of interest, but when she queries this practice, she is told that it isnt commission as the consultants dont get paid this directly. However, its a small company and this practice affects the profits and thus has a big effect on the size of the annual bonus which can be as much as 20% of salary.
Now answer the following questions:
1. Which stakeholders are harmed by the present situation? (10%)
2. What rights do the stakeholders have and what duties does the firm owe to these stakeholders? (10%)
3. Is this practice ethical? If not, why not? (10%)
4. What organisational factors might make it easy/difficult for Sarah to behave ethically? (20%)
5. What individual factors might make it easy/difficult for Sarah to behave ethically? (15%)
6. Now assume that Sarah wants to behave ethically, consider how she might go about addressing the situation ethically. (15%)
7. Now assume you are the manager in charge: assuming you want the company to operate ethically, how might you go about ensuring more ethical conduct on the part of your employees? (20%)
Guidance for exam
Answers that just repeat the question in different ways and which show no sign of additional learning will not pass. It is necessary to read and understand the power-point slides and to follow up concepts, references, terms etc. so you are fully familiar with the content and how it might apply. You should not just remember and copy power-point slides or extracts from articles you should demonstrate understanding of how certain content relates to the questions asked. But remember the lectures and power point slides are just meant as a starting point for you as an independent student to do your own research. You will not get a good mark if you rely on these alone. Do your own research. For example:
– Look up company CSR/sustainability reports to get examples of what companies actually do. Another useful resource may be to look up sustainability/CSR/ethics awards to get examples of good practice.
– Google key terms and concepts mentioned to find out what they mean and how they are applied. For example do you know what ISO14001 is? It is in the slides, if you do not know what it means look it up. Do you know what the WBCSD is? It is in the slides, look it up and explore the website for ideas and examples.
– Make use of the resources provided such as corporate critic and ethical consumer websites and the e-newsletters to see what constitutes good and bad practice in the relevant sectors
– Read the articles listed on blackboard or at least their abstracts
– Most importantly think! In particular when you have to consider how to address an ethical problem in the work place, it may take creative thinking or creative solutions and there will definitely be more than one right answer or approach. Your opinion is valuable, as long as it is clearly informed by your reading both of the academic literature, but also relating to what business actually does and what solutions have been adopted by existing organisations, and how effective these have been.
Guidance advice for a first class answer
Make sure that when you make a key point in your answer that you fully explain it. There are many ways of backing up a point you want to make. In the following examples I will give guidance on style, not content, so X will be used to mean the specific idea, issue, citation etc. These suggestions apply to the questions where you will be explaining how to enable a solution to an ethical issue
1. Explain your answer e.g. one way to enable a more ethical practice is to X This is because X enables . and encourages ..
2. Provide a concrete example e.g. one way to enable a more ethical practice is to X For example the company X adopted this practice in order to
3. Provide a citation e.g. the article X (name/date) provides many useful illustrations of how to enable responsible leadership. The example most useful in this context is to X. This is because ..
4. Provide a critical analysis of a specific practice e.g. one way to enable a more ethical practice is to X However in a study of .. (reference) it was found that X was ineffective because .. This means that if X is to be an effective solution, it would need to be supported by ..

Philanthropic Fundrasing

Topic: Read Worth the entire chapter 11 including Case 11.1 A and 11.1 B. The cases begin on Page 297. Afterwards, answer the following:

1. In the cases above, do the ethical issues involve behavior of a fund-raiser, conditions placed on the gift or the impact of the gift on the organization’s mission and resources, characteristics or personal reputation of the donor, or concerns about privacy?
2. How would you handle the issues raised by each case?
3. After reflecting on the presentation viewed in this module/week, describe the parallels of Christian principles and ethical standards of business.:

Also, you must use a reference from the Harvard Business Review, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, or the Journal of Management Studies, etc.

This paper must be formatted in APA format 6th edition (including references), written in third person, and must include only primary research (from academic/peer-reviewed journals).

Refer to the APA Manual, 6th edition for formatting guidelines.

Biblical integration:
Provide integration of a biblical concept that supports the answer to the Case Study question. . Biblical integration is more than just quoting a verse. Be sure to explain the biblical principle seen in the verse and how that principle may be applied to the issue at hand.

The Bible, NIV, KJV, and NKJV are all acceptable for use in this order.
References:
Using current APA format, list all references used in the response.

Class Conversation

Using examples from other students’ posts from at least three different threads (I do not mean take 3 examples from 1 thread; I do mean take 1 example from 3 different threads), and using those students as the sources for your reply (in essence, you’re using your colleagues as support for your assertion, rather than what you’ve been doing this semester of using an author of an article for your assertion) what do you see as a unifying idea throughout the assigned readings?
As usual, an image is original image is necessarily part of this assignment; you may use previous images of Class Conversations, or Class Notes, but note that if you do, that image needs in some way to be re-imagined to support your assertion.

I believe the article “Who Deserves What” by Michael Sanders is probably one of the most relevant articles I have had to do with my topic. I am currently questioning the fairness of our society and gender socialization. But to do this I have to question what is the point of our society as a whole. Is it meant to illustrate the majority’s opinion, which is that men should have more power, or should it protect the minority, that all genders should have an equal opportunity. It was interesting to read this article because it gave me a perspective I had not thought of before. Let’s say there is a fire and the whole fire fighting force were women, if they had to save these physically bigger men could they? I am a big person, and if I was caught in a fire I would hope a firefighter could carry my unconscious body out of that fire. But this is where people get messed up with the true meaning of a firefighter, they expect this physically strong man to get you out of there, which is normally the case; to be a firefighter you are required to be physically strong. But instead of thinking it as a big man why can’t we think of it as a strong women. We have casted these jobs to specific genders because we always think that the opposite gender automatically cannot fulfil the duty of the job. The line “to understand nature, and our place in it, we must grasp its purpose, its essential meaning”(sanders), it also applies jobs in our community such as fire fighters. If a women can compete with a man’s physical capabilities they should be allowed on the force to fight fires. Telos is definitely going to help me point out what is fair and what is not in our society to try and argue how gender socialization is fair or not.

There were many points that Wade August made in “You did not build this city” and his follow up that I agreed with, but from the look of the comments and a little bit of my own knowledge of Richmond/American history a lot of his opinions seemed to lack support. The article is a very one sided piece –I hate one sided things most of the time– so reading was hard for me. Wade lacked solid concrete details, most of the time he let his heart get ahold of his piece and made it almost personal, and I believe that’s what he meant to do, but that’s not the way to convince people about a small problem like this. He started almost pointing fingers and sounding matter of factly. I agree that slavery was one of the most horrid things this countries has performed and I agree that without slavery Richmond would be nothing today without it. But when he said ” The achievements of black people in America, both modern day and enslaved, are routinely forgotten, especially by whites, as a matter of convenient ignorance.”(You did not build this city) that irked me. Who is he to tell me what I forget, he is making a broad assumption. I think what Wade did wrong is that he made this issue way too personal and started pointing fingers without support.
SOmething I can draw away from this to help me with my own research topic is that we need to educate children about social gender issues and also ethnic issues. It is wrong for Wade to assume that the majority of white people forget about the horrid things black people went through, but it also true to some degree. A lot of white kids don’t go to a high school where the majority of students are not white so they have no idea most of the time, but I did go to a high school like that and I believe I have a pretty decent understanding about what black people have had to go through. So educating and diversifying is something I took away from these two pieces.
Reading some of the comments also irked me–this whole thing kind of rubbed me the wrong way honestly. Some people were just flattening disagreeing because Wade’s assumptions offended them. Now some other people do more research and actually supported their commentary with details and facts. Wade did an alright job with his details but when you mix assumptions with details they almost become subjective. What I have learned from reading all of this is that if one does not do research and logically think about what they are writing it will come across as almost ignorant

Both Scott McCloud and Peter Goin have it right, art is a growing creature. Art has never been stationary and because of its unstoppable growth there are countless types of art forms. It is why we perceive photography today mostly as art. It continues to broaden especially with today’s new technologies and how our society changes in itself. What they realized is that almost anything can be considered art in one way or another, because art is an expression of anything and the technology that grows parallel with art allows art to continue to grow. They both believe that art also serves a bigger purpose in the fact that it allows people to decipher what the art/image means. So the information that art is growing, one can see that art helps illustrate information and expression. When I start researching I will have to keep an open eye on the matter because I could utilize the new types of art to help concrete my research and give a better example

What are some of the effects of stress for both the individual concerned and for organisations that the individual is part of? To what extent should a manager feel responsible for trying to help reduce this stress?

I have ordered a previous essay with the title of “Choose one theorist on aspects of team working (for example Social Identity Theory by Tajfel &Turner, 1979) and discuss two main insights they bring to understanding team dynamics”
my order number is 81525734 and it will be attached to this order.
However, my NEW essay is 1500 words (excluding reference list at end) plus 300 words reflective statement showing how the feedback and learning from the first mini essay has been used to prepare the final essay. To do that you should list TWO aspects you have improved upon and reflect on how you have used the tutor feedback constructively. Please keep the work within the word limit 1500+300 words.
Assessment criteria for the final essay are:

•Focus on question set;
•Quality of argument and analysis
•The depth and extent of your knowledge of relevant concepts, writers and ideas;
•The depth and extent of your knowledge of relevant reading and research;
•originality in discussion and analysis.
•ability to write clearly in a recognised academic style, which is suitable for essay writing,
•ability to reference appropriately.

The assessment criteria above mean in simple terms that you must show you have knowledge of what has been taught on the module, and that you can use this to answer a question in an informed and structured way, presenting arguments in a clear and logical academic way and using relevant literature/research.
Most of the following: Clear evidence of independent and original thinking in arguments and analysis; evidence of wide or in-depth reading/research to support points made; wide or deep understanding of relevant concepts, writers and ideas; mastery of academic style; fluently written and very well-argued essay.

Introduction to Case Study of Claudia Rios
Claudia Rios is a seventeen year old Hispanic female who is ordered by the Juvenile Court to
undergo an evaluation. She presents at the clinic alone for her initial intake. She appears quite
hostile and defiant initially, but soon calms down and seems depressed and anxious. You are
presented with the following information:
Prenatal History of Claudia Rios
Claudia was born to Jennifer Perez (16) and Richard Rios (17). Both Richard and Jennifer had
long histories of alcohol and marijuana abuse. They often had unprotected sex while “high.”
Jennifer stopped her drug use once she discovered she was pregnant. Jennifer had a difficult
pregnancy due to the extreme stress she experienced. She hid her pregnancy from her parents
for several months. She was afraid of their reaction because of their strong Catholic faith.
Richard, at first, agreed to marry her, but then backed out when she was six months pregnant.
Jennifer thought about abortion, but decided against it. Once her parents (Maria & Frank Perez)
found out about the pregnancy, they refused to speak to her for several months. Jennifer was
stressed and alone throughout her pregnancy. She denied using any drugs or alcohol while
pregnant, but there was some suspicion of abuse. Jennifer often did not eat and actually lost
weight during her pregnancy.
Claudia was born one month premature. She remained in the hospital for two weeks before
being allowed to go home. Both Maria and Frank, at this point, were communicating with their
daughter and being very supportive. Richard spent much time with Claudia and also gave
support to Jennifer. Claudia was a difficult child and it was very hard to put her on a schedule.
She often cried endlessly and did not like to be touched as a toddler. Claudia’s developmental
milestones were delayed. She began walking at sixteen months and said her first word at 2.5
years old. Jennifer was responsible and loving, but was also overwhelmed and stressed much of
the time. She dealt with the stress by “partying.” Claudia was raised mainly by Maria and
Jennifer’s older sister, Veronica. When Claudia was one year old, Richard enlisted in the United
States Army and moved to Georgia. He did not contact her for several years. Claudia was
inconsolable during the months following his departure.
Childhood History of Claudia Rios
Claudia had a difficult time as a child. Jennifer was gone much of the time and continued to
party and disappear for long periods of time. Finally, Maria and Frank kicked her out of the
house. Claudia remained with her grandparents. Jennifer eventually relocated to New Jersey
and began working for the state government. Claudia seemed unaffected by her mother’s
absence. Claudia was often “hyper,” talkative, angry, and distant. When she became angry, she
would rage for over an hour. It also was not possible for her to forgive a transgression. She
often would wait and then “get her revenge.” Her grandparents responded to her behavior by
becoming aloof and frustrated. They allowed her to do whatever she wished. At school she had
difficulty keeping up in class. Claudia states that she had difficulty understanding the teacher
because mostly Spanish was spoken at home. She also had problems maintaining friendships at
school. She was very aggressive with her peers. She was mostly a loner. She was administered
an IQ test by the school psychologist and was found to be operating in mildly retarded range of
intellectual functioning. He also found her to be “psychotic.” Claudia denies ever experiencing
any auditory or visual hallucinations. She did disclose, however, that from ages 5 – 10, her
grandfather used to sneak into bed with her at night. She does not remember what happened,
but states that he stopped coming into her room when she started her period. She has always
had a fear of the dark, but does not know the reason.
When Claudia was twelve, Jennifer married Walter Wellington, a wealthy real estate developer
she met in New Jersey. Walter is Caucasian and fifteen years older than Jennifer (She is 29 and
he is 44). Walter has four older children from his previous two marriages: Walter, Jr. (25), Susan
(21), Lisa (16), and Roger (13). Jennifer is also six months pregnant with Walter’s child. They
have decided to have Claudia live with them. At age 13 Claudia relocates to New Jersey. She
feels angry and resentful about having to move. She states that she was not consulted about
moving and feels her life began to worsen at this point. Claudia and Walter did not relate well.
She often spoke Spanish while living with her grandparents, but Walter would not allow she or
Jennifer to speak in Spanish. He felt that they were conspiring against him. Jennifer relented
and also forbade Claudia to speak Spanish. Claudia was often spanked by Walter and disclosed
that he always left bruises. She was not allowed to go to school on these days.
Adolescence of Claudia Rios
Claudia’s school problems worsened in New Jersey. She was several grade levels below the
other students, but was still passed ahead. Claudia attended a private school and lamented the
fact that she was the only person of color. She developed early, however, and found that many
of the boys thought she was very attractive. Claudia states that she lost her virginity to Walter
Wellington, Jr. when she was 14. She became extremely promiscuous during high school.
Claudia brags that she often had multiple sex partners at one time. She also had sexual
experiences with women. Claudia became pregnant once, but had an abortion without her
parents’ knowledge. Claudia also began to abuse drugs and alcohol. She has experimented with
LSD, heroin, crank, marijuana, PCP, alcohol, and sniffing gasoline. Her drug of choice is crank
(“When I use crank, it calms me down.”). Claudia maintains her friendships either by offering
sex or scoring them drugs. She finds that most of her peers ignore her and is often rejected
when she attempts to initiate contact. She has been arrested several times for shoplifting, not
attending school, and for residential burglary. She is on Formal Probation at this time. She is
currently experiencing major stressors in her life. Her maternal grandfather just died suddenly
from a heart attack. She states that his death is “bringing up all kinds of thoughts and feelings.”
She is also beginning to have nightmares about what might have occurred in the dark. In
addition, Richard has just re-entered her life. He is married with three small children. She has
ambivalent feelings towards him. He has offered to have Claudia live with him in Texas. Claudia
does not know what to do.

Using the case study of Claudia Rios in the included document, please address all of the following questions. In an organized and well written 7-8 double-spaced page paper, fully discuss all relevant issues as thoroughly and completely as possible. Be sure to provide citations and references in APA format.

Final Essay

This is a final essay that will be counted as an exam. The paper must discuss CONFLICT THEORY and cite 3 specific examples from each of the 4 books that relate to conflict theory. At the end of the paper, an opinion must be expressed on whether or not you agree with the conflict theory or not. It doesn’t matter whether you agree or disagree, but an opinion must be expressed. This is a final paper to take all 4 books listed below and use 3 examples from each book to relate conflict theory to each example. I had a book review done on all 4 books that I will upload if that will help any.

The 4 books that examples must be drawn from are:
