Festival and event

In this assignment you are required to write an essay (or project) on the festival or event that already exists
a. You have a choice of general topics to choose from, namely, celebrations in general, beauty, reality shows, food and religion but you are also allowed you to negotiate another topic. This really means that you are not required to do any of the listed general topics because you can negotiate a topic of your own choice.
b. To show you what I expect in the third assignment, I am going to do my own third assignment and explain why I have done what I have done

CASE MOD 3

The format of this assignment is similar to that of the previous case assignment, as you will again be giving recommendations based on a series of situations that a company might face. Of course, make sure to thoroughly review the background materials and make sure you have a strong familiarity with the five main promotional strategies and advantages, disadvantages, and challenges of each. You should also familiarize yourself with the advantages and disadvantages of different types of media.

For each of the following situations below, give a recommendation for A) which one or two of the five main promotional strategies should the company emphasize, and B) one or two types of media should the company emphasize in their promotions, and C) at least one reference from the background materials in support of your recommendations. Your paper should be four to five pages in length:

1. A company has developed some advanced new animation software for use in making professional quality animated television shows and movies. This company’s customers will be small in number overall – the major movie and television studios, a few independent studios, and some of the larger animation schools.
2. A new toy has come out shortly before Christmas which is based on a popular TV show for kids. The producer of the toy is hoping for big sales during the holiday season, as Christmas is when they make most of their profits for the year. But due to licensing issues they had faced delays in releasing the product and only have a short time before Christmas to get the word out about their new toy.
3. A major food manufacturer is planning to come out with a brand new fiber drink designed to promote colon and intestinal health. The target market is senior citizens.
4. You are running a small airline that connects a few regional cities. Your sales are generally high which indicates that there is a strong market for flights that connect these cities. However, your research department has found that you have a low rate of repeat customers compared to similar airlines.

Modernity

focus on ANY work from the eighteenth century to the present in ANY medium. You must analyse the specific ways in which the work that you select engages with the problem of modernity in relation to the theoretical concerns and concepts discussed by 1) Charles Baudelaire “The Painter of Modern Life” AND 2) Giorgio Agamben”What is Contemporary”. You must make your references to the 2 writers an INTEGRAL PART of your argument rather than a few random quotations tacked onto to the opening and conclusion. In addition to these writers, you must also use at least 3 scholarly sources (books or articles) concerning the work and artist whom you choose. These must be properly referenced in either MLA or Chicago style.

Rhetorical Critique – Critical Race

RHETORICAL CRITIQUE – 100 POINTS
In this assignment you will take on the role of rhetorical critic. The purpose of this critique is for you to demonstrate mastery of one of the methods of criticism we have discussed. You will choose a rhetorical artifact and fully apply one of the methods to it. You are going to create an argument that uses a particular method to interpret an artifact in support of a critical claim.
MINIMUM CRITERIA – FAILURE TO MEET THESE MAY RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC “D” (60/100)
1. When discussing the method you must primarily reference the relevant assigned course texts. In other words, you may not rely on course texts from other classes.
2. You may NOT use or cite my lecture slides except for material on a method that is not covered by the course readings.
3. Your artifact must be appropriate for your assigned method. For example, a “hard news” story would be inappropriate for a neo-Aristotelian critique. If in doubt, ask.
AUDIENCE ASSUMPTIONS
You should write for an audience that is generally knowledgeable about communication criticism, but not conversant in your given method.
RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS
You are not required to conduct additional research on your method. However, in order to adequately do your analysis you will likely need to do outside research.
Any claims you make should be backed up by research using sources that are both reliable and appropriate for the claim being made. This standard may fluctuate depending on your method and claim. For example, if you are doing accurate interpretation you would not want to use a highly partisan political site to verify claims made by a politician in a speech. However, stories from this same site can be suitable as evidence in a narrative analysis. If in doubt, please ask.
PAPER STRUCTURE
CRITICAL CLAIM
At the top of your paper provide your critical claim. Make this a precise statement about what you will prove in your paper. This should be no more than two sentences.
INTRODUCTION (APPROX. 200-300 WORDS)
This section opens the essay and orients the reader to the rest of the argument.
1. Begin with an opening “hook” that draws in the reader
2. Provide a brief statement telling the reader what your artifact is and what method you will use
3. Articulate a clear and precise critical claim (thesis statement) that orients your argument (restated from previous section, may copy and paste)
4. Provide a brief description of the order of the paper (signposting).
ARTIFACT INTRODUCTION AND CONTEXTUALIZATION (300-600 WORDS)
In this section you will introduce your artifact.
1. Give a description of the artifact.
2. Contextualize the artifact within its social, cultural, and/or economic milieu. For example, box office and/or critical reception for films or the historical circumstances surrounding a speech. You will need outside sources here that verify any claims you make about the artifact.
METHOD EXPLICATION (900-1200 WORDS)
This section describes the method you will use to analyze your artifact. Your goal here is to demonstrate to me that you comprehend the key elements of the methods and can accurately identify, define and explain various concepts associated with the method.
1. Introduce the method by explaining its purpose.
For example: Neo-Aristotelian criticism is concerned with…
1. Identify and explain at least two presuppositions of the method that relate to your critique.
For example: Neo-Aristotelian critics assume…
2. Identify, define, and explicate those concepts from this method you will use in your critique.
For example: In this critique I will examine (name of artifact) by focusing on (concepts). Then explain the concepts.
NOTE: I expect that this section discusses the concepts that you will use in your analysis.
INTERPRETATION (1200-1500 WORDS)
In this section you will conduct your analysis of the artifact. Your goals here are is to correctly deploy the concepts you describe in your methods section to:
1. “Fix the meaning” of the artifact in a way that can deepen the audience’s understanding and appreciation of that artifact.
2. Clearly support and illuminate your critical claim.
3. Provide internal and/or external evidence that supports any claims you make. You may need to use outside research that supports your claims.
You should not forget that you are using a specific method of criticism – therefore you MUST use the vocabulary and concepts of that method, and use them correctly. However, this is more than “jargon dropping” – you need to explain and illustrate to your audience how these concepts work in your critique.
CONCLUSION (300-600 WORDS)
In this section you need comment on and explain the argument you made in the analysis. This is not simply a summary of what you wrote in the previous pages. You need to:
1. Tie your proofs from the previous section together into a coherent defense of your critical claim (thesis).
2. Explain the significance of your findings. This is your “so what” moment. It is also the place for you to most clearly state your insights into the artifact you just critiqued.

EXAMPLES OF CONCEPT EXPLICATION
Part of your task in any academic writing is to demonstrate for your audience/reviewer that you know, understand, and can deploy concepts that are relevant for your analysis. The least this will do is 1) Guide and educate your audience; and 2) Demonstrate your mastery of the material to any evaluator.
Below are examples of how to demonstrate different levels of knowledge in your writing.
Identification (You have memorized the term)
A key concept in psychoanalysis is the Id.
Identification and definition (You have memorized the term and can accurately relate its meaning)
A key concept in psychoanalysis is the Id, which is the part of our consciousness that houses our sexual and violent instincts (Freud, 1989a, 1989b).
Identification, definition, and explanation (You have memorized the term, can accurately relate its meaning, and can describe how the concept works)
A key concept in psychoanalysis is the Id, which is the part of our consciousness that houses our sexual and violent instincts (Freud, 1989a, 1989b). In other words, according to psychoanalysis, the Id is that part of us that operates beneath our awareness, urging us to act in ways that will satisfy our desires.
Identification, definition, explanation, and application via example* (You have memorized the term, can accurately relate its meaning, can describe how the concept works, and can apply the concept)
For example, the sudden, intense anger we experience as “road rage” could be understood as the Id’s push to enact violence on someone we perceive has wronged us on the road.
*An example for each concept you introduce will not be necessary and may even prove cumbersome. An extremely effective example is one that covers several concepts. Done well this can demonstrate an understanding of how each concept functions and (more importantly) how they function together – See below.
Identification, definition, explanation, example, and synthesis via extended example (You have memorized the term, can accurately relate its meaning, can describe how the concept works, can apply the concept, and can use the concept with other related concepts in a meaningful way)
A key concept in psychoanalysis is the Id, which is the part of our consciousness that houses our sexual and violent instincts (Freud, 1989a, 1989b). In other words, according to psychoanalysis, the Id is that part of us that operates beneath our awareness, urging us to act in ways that will satisfy our desires. For example, the sudden, intense anger we experience as “road rage” could be understood as the Id’s push to enact violence on someone we perceive has wronged us on the road. However, as much as we would like to commit violence, for the most part we do not – the reality principle (the law promises negative consequences for losing one’s temper) provides support for the Super-Ego (fear of punishment) to intervene and repress the violent desire of the Id
THIS TEACHER IS VERY PARTICULAR YOU MUST FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS VERBADUM. PLEASE WRITE AT DOCTORAL LEVEL AND APA FORMAT. READ ALL THE READINGS AND MAKE SURE YOU MAKE REFERENCE TO THE MAIN COURSE BOOK CALLED COMMUNICATION CRITICSIM… BY MALCOLM O SILLARS AND BRUCE GRONBECK.

Unreached People of Bedouin,

1. This is a UPG NOT a UUPC (Unreached, Unengaged PG). You must choose a group that has enough information to warrant a paper this size.
2. Be sure to footnote from joshuaproject.net the UPG status.
3. The thesis statement should refer briefly to the entire paper outline.
4. So I can help you prevent any major problems, include a proposed table of contents too, showing the projected outline and page limits for each section. This change will increase the one page limit.
5. Your unreached people group paper is 30 percent (300 points) of your grade so begin now. IT IS DUE FRIDAY NIGHT. NO EXTENSIONS DUE TO CHRISTMAS. Follow the instructions, announcement advice and grading rubric very closely. NOTE: The first two chapters provide information for the third chapter.
Focus on information that directly impacts the development of your strategy.
a. Background information (5–7 pages) on the people group (history, language, culture, economy, religion, family). Also, include in an appendix a map. Focus on information that impacts your strategy development.
1.
a. A survey of missions work (5–7 pages) to this people (history of missions among them, the current status of the church, how many known believers, challenges, present strategies; if possible, contact a missionary presently working with this group). Again, focus on the information that aides and applies to your strategy
b. Proposed strategy (6–7 pages). This is the longest part of your paper. From the perspective of (1) a missionary going to them (2) a missions organization beginning work among them (3) a sending church sending laborers to work among them, propose a strategy. While biblical principles ought to be in place, the specific strategy should take into account the background information on the people group and the survey of past and present missions work among the people. Finally, your project should take into consideration the articles in Winter and Hawthorne, Perspectives, chs. 84–136. Note the need to include a comprehensive approach. Including how each of these approaches from the texts apply to your UPG:church planting, medical (including dental and optical), tent making, short term trips, Bible distribution, construction, dynamic equivalents, children’s events, orphanages, technology, water wells, music, radio/TV, reaching nationals outside the country to return with Jesus.
8. This RESEARCH paper should conform to the LU Style Guide and include a title page, table of contents, section headings, at least 30 scholarly footnotes (in addition to scripture), introduction, conclusion and a bibliography. Your paper should include more than 6 scholarly sources, including all class texts. NOTE the maximum page count of 20 pages of content will be needed for an A grade.
9. These are the most common errors: This is NOT a country study. If you present a country study or a group not listed on joshuaproject, the paper will be penalized 80 points.
10. Wikkipedia is NOT a scholarly source. Use only Internet references that have peer review
11. The Safe Assign system used by Liberty is thorough, effective and indisputable.
12. Interviews are great, remember to include the transcript in an appendix
13. The LU Style guide does not allow First Person in a formal paper. The experiences, opinions and beliefs of the writer are not the focus of this research paper. The writer is an observer NOT a participant.
14. The bib and footnotes should be single spaced. A minimum of 30 scholarly footnotes is required.
15. Please do not use any one source more than THREE times to ensure a thorough research paper.
16. Look in Turabian p. 219, number 5 for correct citation of chapters in Winter.
17. Please be sure to include practical application. The longest section should be the strategy section. Please include applicable scripture throughout
18. Note a research paper anticipates extensive interaction with scholars and resources (at least 30 scholarly footnotes in addition to extensive scripture citations).
The writer’s experience is not a resource. Personal opinions are not appropriate but if included must be in a footnote and documented from biblical and scholarly sources

Discuss the representation of femininity

Essays must be word processed and properly formatted. Follow the ESSENTIAL STYLE GUIDE for layout and referencing conventions. You must also remember to include a filmography after your bibliography. If you do not clearly indicate (‘using inverted commas’) and reference any phrases and sentences not your own that you have copied from printed or electronic sources, you are plagiarising. Your main sources should be books, chapters and journal articles. Use Internet sources sparingly and be aware that these can be detected by staff electronically.

Reflecting Writing

Reflective Writing Brief: Critically consider at least one key academic argument from the course so far, evaluating its relevance and impact in terms of the social world in which you live.

The reflective writing exercise is an opportunity for you to consider your gendered experience in light of the academic theory and examples you have studied in the first semester of the course. You will need to make references to academic texts, and these will need to be referenced using the Harvard System of referencing.

You might want to talk about gender and society or male and female differences or how gender is performed through social actions

STR-based DNA profiling (short tandem repeat)

Paper requirements:
Each student will write a Six page paper citing at least six scholarly sources one the topic given to you. This paper should be written using (APA) format (strictly enforced) with title page and reference page. Your paper should be double spaced with no more than 12 point font and one inch margins. Research for this paper should come from scholarly sources. The Journal of Forensic Science is a very well respected journal in this field. The paper should provide results of scientific experimentation on your topic and must provide much greater depth of the selected topic than covered in class.

Dear writer, I also included some sources already in APA format. I don’t know if you want to use them or not but I need no less than six scholarly peer reviewed sources.

Joseph Conrad’s “An outpost of Progress” and Heart of Darkness

An essay relating Joseph Conrad’s “An Outpost of Progress” to *Heart of Darkness* with a particular focus on narrative techniques, voice and focalization. All arguments must be supported from both texts.
It is not necessary to use other sources than the short story and the novella. However, if they are used, they must be found through scholar.google.com and the articles available for me to download.
If further instructions are needed, please write to me.
