Literacy Narrative in the form of an Autobiographical Annotated Bibliography.

Topic: Literacy Narrative in the form of an Autobiographical Annotated Bibliography.
Your Essay 1 Draft 1 is due on Wednesday. Come to class with 2 printed-out copies of E1D1. Stapled. Use an MLA header, double-space but feel free to double-side. One copy I will collect while you will workshop the other copy with your peers. As presented in class, you are to have 5 Bibliographic citations along with 5 related Annotations. Your “loose” roll-model is Rick Moody’s ‘Primary Sources” being that your E1’s goal is to be a Literacy Narrative in the form of an Autobiographical Annotated Bibliography. Use your MLA Handbooks to format the citations as well as the OWL Purdue website (I have added the OWL link under “Resources” in NYU Classes) or any other authoritative handbooks that you have that present how to format using MLA. Do not use any electronic tools since they tend to take more time as well as being incorrect. Refer to your class notes regarding identity construction and the full meaning of the word ‘literacy.’ Have fun with this assignment. Use your associative thinking. Rely on concrete details.
E1D2 is due on Monday at the beginning of class. This draft should be focusing on revising the structure of your Autobiographical Annotated Bibliography so that your reader can learn as they go how to read your work (the way that Rick Moody teaches us how to read his “Primary Sources.”) Therefore, consistency in your developing patterns is key! I also want to see a perfect MLA header, margins, page numbering…the formatting. And of course, in your citations. (See the OWL PURDUE link under ‘Resources” in NYU Classes and use your MLA Handbook.) So far you have a least 5 citations and 5 annotations (that was your E1D1. Now, I want you to cite different kinds of sources. In other words, if you have books, I want you to add a website and an interview and something else. Be creative! Push those associative-genius-brains! Add a total of 5 more sources 2 of whom must be from our four writers above: Appiah, Anzaldua, Bechdel, Foer. And, you are welcome to do more than 5 new ones. (Your Final Drafts of Essay 1 will be required to contain 20 citations/annotations.)
E1D3 is due on Wednesday at the beginning of class. This is the last draft that we will be workshopping and then I will be collecting to respond to over the weekend. SO BE SURE TO BRING IN TWO COPIES. At this point, you should have at least 20 citations and corresponding annotations. Take this 3rd draft as far as you can take it, fully-realize it according to the ways we discussed in class, use our course readings and textbooks to help you with its content and the MLA-ing. Remember, this is a creative project of identity yet is preparing you for academic research. Remember, this Essay 1 is an Literacy Narrative in the form of an Autobiographical Annotated Bibliography.
I have already created a draft somewhat, you can continue it from there by changing most of the things. Hopefully you’ll have a rough idea, read the description task and also follow rick moodys method of associative thinking through annotating sources. EXAMPLE – through sourcing books, and through the use of associative thinking, Moody recalls memories of growing up and about his dad through the use of books and associative thinking.
