History

For the content of your paper:
– Provide historical context/background for each document, connecting the individual accounts to the larger historical themes of the era.
– Compare the experiences and attitudes of each author.
– Based on what you have read in the textbook, explain how all of these documents relate to relationships between Americans and Native Americans during

the early 1800s?
– You DO NOT need to answer the questions at the end of each document.

3) Writing Requirements: Each PSA must be more than 300 words in length. Direct quotes do not count toward the required word count.

4) Research and Citations: This assignment does not require any outside research and can be completed using the documents, the textbook, and the videos.

In the case of these sources, only direct quotes need to be cited, requiring only the author’s last name in parentheses. Outside sources (books,

websites, etc.) may also be used, but in this case all information must be cited and must be listed in a works cited (or bibliography) at the end of the

essay. For your citations, please use Chicago, MLA, or APA. You will submit your paper through plagiarism checking software, so be sure to cite any and

all direct quotes. For help with citations, see the “History / Writing Help” section of the course menu.

employees informing them of the death of Harold Olsen, Data Research Director. Harold worked for your company for 9 years. He died of a heart

attack over the weekend. Memorial services will be held at the Chapel of the Bells in Las Vegas on Friday, September 14 at 10 AM. The family has

set up a memorial fund, Donations can be sent to the American Heart Association in Mr. Olsen’s name at 5555 Victory Lane, Hampton, Virginia

23433.

2. Write a letter to Harold’s wife, Mary Olsen.

Technologies Making Subjectivity and Society

Write an essay of 750-1000 words detailing a technological development and some of the hopes and fears associated with it. What are the

social and political implications of that technology to date, and what might be further ramifications in the future?

One way to approach the assignment might be to “map” out the impact of a particular development (where did it originate, how/where did it

spread its influence over time?) Non-text-based components for such would be welcome for additional credit, though should be accompanied

by a written legend or “rationale.” You must substantially reference at least one written text from the readings we have done in class.

*** You should choose something simple topic — a piece of technology that has a history, and that you think will continue to change in

the future (For example, like a car…but not smartphones or film/video). ***

*** If you use any material from sources, you need to credit it.(IMPORTANT!!) ****

** You must substantially reference at least one written text from the readings

Include a response of at least 150 words for each question in a new message within Outlook®.
• Question 1: I am thinking about purchasing and using Microsoft® Outlook® for my small business. Can you provide some insight and information as to how this can help me be more productive?

• Question 2: I have been trying to figure out how to organize my messages more efficiently. I just keep them in the inbox for now, but there are way too many and I can’t find older messages when I need to. Can you provide advice or tips on how to more appropriately organize my inbox?

• Question 3: When I start Outlook® every day it takes so long to load. It goes through “Enabling Add-Ins” for at least 20 different programs. I can’t figure out how to get rid of some of these Add-Ins. Can you let me know? Also, can you think of anything else that might help speed up my Outlook®?

• Question 4: At least twice per day, Outlook® crashes at random times and I have to close/re-open it. Do you know what might be causing this or what I should check?
Place an appropriate subject in the e-mails.
Save each response as a separate e-mail in Outlook® Message Format.

Information management

In Principles for Applying Information Technology (James Drogan, 2005) the point is made that “The only legitimate uses of information systems

are to improve the performance of the enterprise.” This requires management that is knowledgeable and involved.

Please take up this issue of managing ICT with a specific focus on what you think are the two or three most significant management challenges;

that which makes them significant; and what can be done to mitigate these challenges.

database to be used is the MS SQL AdventureWorks Database 2014

Project Instructions:

In order to complete this assignment you will need to log into the virtual machine and use the Adventure Works database within SQL Server Management Studio.

For each question include:

  • the text version of the SQL script itself
  • a screenshot of the SQL script in action
    • Your screenshot should include both the query and the results
    • Make sure your screenshot includes the results from the GETDATE() function
  • Each script must include the GETDATE()(Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. function in the select statement

To keep the queries more straightforward, use aliases.

Section A

Create SQL Scripts that:

  1. Selects ALL the BusinessEntityID, LastName, and FirstName fields for the Person’s table
    1. Fields should be in the above order
    2. Add a sort to the query so LastName is alphabetized A – Z
  2. Add the person’s email address to Query #A1
  3. Add the person’s phone number to Query #A2, include the PhoneNumberType Name field (etc. cell, home, work)
  4. Add in the AddressLine1, City, StateProvinceID, and PostalCode fields to Query #A3
    1. Note: two different people could have the same address. This database is designed to store each unique address individually, so while in this case this detail for this address would only exist once in the database, it would be assigned to all individuals with that address.
    2. Note2: You will have to bring in two different Address tables to get this to portion to work.
  5. Modify the Query from #A4 to include the StateProvinceCode, CountryRegionCode, and Name

Section B

  1. Create a query that calculates a count of Departments by Group Name from the HumanResources.Department table.

Create a completely different query that shows the distinct listing of Product

Description of Research Methodology

In this assignment, you will write an essay about the research methods and ethical implications of a social psychology study. You will get

information about the study from one of the entries in the SPARQ “Solutions Catalog”, which is a web site maintained by Stanford

University at https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions?&&. SPARQ is an acronym for “Social Psychological Answers to Real-world Questions.”

Each entry in the Solutions Catalog names a problem, and then offers a solution to that problem, based on a research study in social

psychology.

To keep this assignment short and manageable, your only sources for this assignment should be from the SPARQ site and your course

materials, such as your textbook. There is no need for you to cite any of the course materials. Therefore, no additional citations or

references are needed, beyond those from the SPARQ site.

In this exercise, you will choose one of the entries in the SPARC site, and then write a two to three (2-3) page paper that meets the

following requirements.

Begin your paper with a short introductory statement that clearly identifies the article from the SPARQ site that you are using, as well

as the corresponding research article. Model your statement after the following example:
The article I selected from the SPARQ website is entitled “Boost Grades by Reframing Failures” (Wilson, n.d.), which summarizes a research

article (Wilson & Linville, 1982) on the topic.

Please note that there are two APA “in-text citations” in this example. The first citation “(Wilson, n.d.)” is an in-text citation for the

SPARQ article. The SPARQ articles are undated, which means that there is no date of publication reported. The “n.d.” designation is an

abbreviation for “no date”.
The second citation “(Wilson & Linville, 1982)”, is an in-text citation to the original research article. We are asking you to cite this

paper for practice in using APA, but are not requiring you to read the original paper. Normally, you should cite only those articles that

you actually read and used, but we’re making an exception here for the purposes of practice.
Briefly summarize the main details of your chosen social psychology research study. Identify the main research method(s) used in the study

(e.g., case study, experiment, observation, etc.).
Explain whether or not you believe the research methodology that the researchers used in the study was the most appropriate for the study.

Provide a rationale for your response.
Discuss whether or not you believe the research methodology used in the study is the one (1) method that provides researchers with the

most information in general. Explain the main reasons why or why not.
Explain the major ethical implications of the selected study (e.g., informed consent, debriefing, etc.). Describe the main reasons why you

believe the study was or was not ethical. Provide a rationale for your response.
The final section of your paper will be a reference section that contains a corresponding reference for both of the in-text citations in

your introductory statement (see point #1, above). In APA-style citations, in-text citations must match up with a reference in the

reference section. You can model your reference section after the following:
Wilson, T. D. (n.d.). Boost grades by reframing failures. Retrieved from https://sparq.stanford.edu/solutions/boost-grades-reframing-

failures
Wilson, T. D. & Linville, P.W. (1982). Improving the academic performance of college freshmen: attribution therapy revisited. Journal of

Personality and Social Psychology, 42 (2), 367-376.

These examples follow the APA conventions for an Internet article, and a professional journal article, respectively.

Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:

Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides. Check with your professor for any

additional instructions.
Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The

cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.

Observational Research Analysis

Observational studies are often the first type of research conducted in an area of clinical interest. The data obtained from observational research can

be used to develop interventions that are tested experimentally or implemented directly into practice and evaluated clinically.

The ability to analyze a research study allows clinicians to assess its value as evidence for a practice change. Analysis is an objective process in

which you breakdown and describe what is reported by the authors. It does not include inference or interpretation of the article. The goal of this

assignment is to increase your understanding of analysis and competency in identifying the components of a research study. To do so, you will work

backwards by first identifying and reading an observational research article and then analyzing it using the appropriate analysis form posted on

Blackboard. The assignment is worth 50 points

Assignment Guidelines
1. Review course content regarding quantitative research designs, especially Polit& Beck (Ch. 9), Concato (2004) and Concato et al. (2000), and

class discussion regarding analysis.
2. Identify a problem you have encountered in your clinical setting.Ideally this will be the problem you will investigate throughout the semester.
3. Conduct a literature search and identify one relevant observational research article that could be used to support (provide evidence for) the

problem. Before choosing an article I recommend you carefully look at its format. If it is not written in the traditional research report format

(Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion) then do not choose that article. If you do not select the correct research design (observational study)

you will receive no credit for the assignment.
4. Analyze the article using the observational research analysis form posted on Blackboard. I have posted it as a Word document so you can fill

in your analysis in the “Student Comments” column. Do not submit your analysis as an essay-type paper or in any other format. I will not accept it and

you will not receive credit for the assignment. You do not need a title page or abstract for this assignment, so please do not include them.
5. Include subheadings in the Comments section (right column) that match the Category bullet points/prompts (left column) so I can correctly

identify which part of your analysis matches each prompt.
6. For analysis of the Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, you may take specific wording/content directly (copy and paste) from the

article (i.e. use the author’s own words). This will save you time and will not be considered plagiarism in this case. Just be sure to include the

page number(s) of the article from which the wording/content was taken. This will allow me to check your “answers” with the original research article.

As appropriate (and necessary) you may use the Abstract as a backup source for content not included or clearly articulated in the Introduction,

Methods, Results, and Discussion sections.Do not make inferences or interpret what you believe the authors mean to say as part of your analysis. You

will lose points if you do. If content is not included in the article, then state “none,” “not included,” etc.
7. Please keep in mind that you will be graded based on the quality of your analysis (your ability to extract the critical content only), not its

length (i.e. do not recopy the entire content of the article onto the analysis form).
