What are the four significant reasons Lincoln wanted Nevada to become a state?

Instructions: The discussion topics below are based on course material information you have read; which includes the course text chapters, and the Module Week-1 Learning page information and handouts for Chapter 1 The Spirit of American Politics/ and Chapter 2 The Ideas That Shape America to response to discussion topic questions. Reading the relevant material will benefit students to answer relevant chapter questions on study guide number 1, and to Know terms associated with each chapter. [There  are also added areas or topics students should “know:” for exam number one.]

Democracy

Philosophers Thomas Hobbes, John Locke’s and Jean-Jacques Rosseau’s theory on Social Contract implied agreements by which people form nations and maintain a social order. In laymen’s terms this means that the people give up some rights to a government in order to receive social order. Social contract theory provides the rationale behind the historically important notion that legitimate state authority must be derived from the consent of the governed.

Topic: Social Contract

1. Discuss: How does the theory of Social Contract mean to your participation

in a government of democracy?

Topic: Representative Democracy

2. Discuss: If you think that all election voting should be available to everyone on

home computers provided by government? Will it cure the low voting turnout problem

for elections? Will it increase the voice of the majority in reference to getting closer to

obtaining a true representative democracy?

Topic: Political Culture

3. Discuss: Which source(s) do you learn your American Political Culture from [which is

defined in the chapter 1 extra terms handout] the most out of the five main areas?

Explain how.

Topic: Political Ideology (handout)

4. Discuss: Which Political Ideology you like the most and why? Discuss which Political

Ideology you dislike the most and why?

Know: What are the three events that was the result of settlement in Nevada by the

1840s?

Know: some of the explicit reasons why Nevada Settlers wanted their own territory.

Settlers felt that they were receiving unfair treatments and it led to a chain of events in

which the settlers petitioned Congress and the President for their own territory, and to be

separated from the Western Utah Territory (currently Nevada), which was overseen by

Brigham Young. Settlers, who were predominately Non-Mormon, complained that some

laws made by the Utah territorial officials had “no separation of church and state.”

Settlers believed they had no true representation in their own interest, and felt their

interests were ignored within the jurisdiction they lived in. The capital was far away (first

it resided in Fillmore City and then in Salt Lake City which was 500 miles distance); and

the Western Utah Territory lacked law and order. The settlers eventually created a

squatter government; and hired an attorney to travel several times to Congress to

petition for their own territory, and statehood.

Know: how the leadership of the Utah territory affected the settlers’ liberty and equality?

Topic: Nevada Early History

1. Discuss: How would that type leadership affect our liberty and equality today?

Topic: Statehood and Territory

[Read: notes on this topic located on Module-Week 1 course information module page.]

Know: What were the two main barriers that stop the ratification of the first Nevada 1863

constitution?

Know: What are the four significant reasons Lincoln wanted Nevada to become a state?

What are the Five Great Relationships?

Write a 175- to 350-word summary on Confucianism that addresses the following topics:

· What are the Five Great Relationships?

· How is the morally upright person to act?

· What is the role of Confucianism in Chinese culture and society today?

The role of Diversity in the workplace

You will review the literature on a significant topic or issue in training and development that is relevant to today’s organizations. Using APA style,

you will write a topical essay of 4-5 pages in length. The paper should include the following:

1. Statement of the topic or issue you are investigating.
2. Overview of scholarly research on the topic or issue (be sure to cite all your work, and be sure to include at least 5 scholarly references, not

including our textbook).
3. Summary of research on the topic and/or suggestion of a resolution or solution to the issue.

Be sure to substantiate your ideas with data or information from the literature (don’t just tell me what you think about the topic – summarize and

synthesize what the literature says). You must use APA style for the research report.

Evaluating your preferred Programming Language

Evaluating your preferred Programming Language
Write at least 3 page (single spaced, font size 12) essay about what language is your preferred and why? Base your discussion on the 3 criteria

of readability, writability and reliability (and its sub categories) as discussed in class. Please write a small introduction paragraph

mentioning what languages you know and how much programming experience you have in each. The paper should try to bring out specific reasons

based on these criteria that lead you to your decision (if you have one) about your preferred language.

why cultural self-awareness is important to develop cultural intelligence.

Please READ all the attached files and information given here before starting the assignment.

Assignment details –  Write an essay to critically reflect on why cultural self-awareness is important to develop cultural intelligence. Use the readings covered and personal examples, which draw on observations and experiences to discuss how and why cultural self-awareness assists people to be more culturally intelligent.  The assignment must NOT be more than 1200 words.

I have given my previous two assignments because they need to have a correlation with this assignment at hand. (My part two of the assignment went horribly wrong though). Also please read the criteria so that you get an idea of how to carry out the assignment.

Arab-Israeli Conflict

The details and instructions on formatting are below. Please follow them precisely; failure to adhere to the instructions will result in a delay

of grading of your exam, at best, and possible grade of “incomplete” that will take through next academic quarter to resolve.

EXAM INSTRUCTIONS:
Your ability to follow them reflects on you as a student, and therefore can influence your final grade. “You will be asked to respond to the

exam prompt by using resources from the course — that means anything directly/indirectly sourced from lectures and the reading. You may use

outside sources, but I DO NOT ENCOURAGE IT.” Everything you need to answer the prompt in full can be sourced from lecture and the reading. You

may, however, and are encouraged to refer to anything discussed in class, including documentary videos.

If you are citing something from lecture or the book (and I expect that you will), please use parenthetical citations. For lecture material,

simply use “(Lecture, Date)” as the format; for the book, use “(Author)” — you don’t need to provide the page number, just the name of the

individual author for the section you are referencing. And please note, “Lust” is the name of the editor of the text, not the author of each of

the sections; do not cite her as a source — I need the specific author for that section.

Lastly, please note that there will be no “right” or “wrong” answers for the exam, only good and less-than-good answers. The better ones will

serve as model answers for the rest. Answering the prompt will not be difficult — the challenge is answering it well.

THE QUESTION:
Ever since the first Palestinian intifada — if not sooner — many believed that the key to solving the Middle East’s many problems was to bring

about an agreement in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Create a Palestinian state, the thinking went, and everything else will fall into line.

However, the developments following the Arab Spring and subsequent rise of ISIS call this theory into question. More than ever, it is debatable

whether addressing the Arab-Israeli conflict first will have a positive “spill-over” into other critical areas like sectarian violence,

institutional dysfunction, and political and economic underdevelopment.

So: If you had to choose one conflict to address first, would you make it the Arab-Israeli conflict? Tell me why or why not, and support your

answer by going through the different conflict types — and specific cases — and demonstrating how they may or may not tie in with the Arab-

Israeli conflict.

National Registry of Evidence-based Programs

Write a 500-750 paper that contrasts two interventions for the treatment of substance use disorders.

Refer to the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices website to help you successfully complete your paper. Be sure to select treatment interventions and not prevention programs. Include the following in your paper for each intervention:

  • Intervention description
  • Outcomes
  • Target population
  • Treatment settings
  • Research about the effectiveness of the intervention
  • Possible training necessary to deliver each intervention (you will need to conduct research outside of the NREPP website)

Include a minimum of two scholarly references in addition to the textbook in your paper.

Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

You are required to submit this assignment to Turnitin. Please refer to the directions in the Student Success Center.

Explain the TCP/IP Model in terms of functions at each layer. How do the layers map to the OSI Model layers

1. Communications within a computer network rely on numerous components for data to traverse from the initial sender of a message or file to the receiver at the distant end of the communication path. In addition to the media that the data travels across, the devices that guide the data packets through the network, and the protocols that establish end-to-end connectivity and negotiate the communication, network services play a critical role in providing the necessary addressing and name resolution services. Describe the following services and their role in network communications: ARP, DHCP, ICMP, SNMP, and DNS.

2. Modern organizations rely on the Internet for information and research necessary to stay competitive but this access can come with significant risk if they don’t take the necessary steps to safeguard their internal resources from outside attackers. In this week’s reading, various types of firewalls and firewall configurations were discussed. Describe the terms bastion host, DMZ, dual-homed firewall, screened host, and screened subnet and their roles in firewall architectures.

3. Many organizations employ a mobile workforce and/or provide the option of telework to their employees to allow them to work from home. In both situations, a secure means of accessing the corporate network remotely must be provided. Discuss the four main tunneling protocols used to provide virtual private network access between remote users and their corporate network.

4. Explain the TCP/IP Model in terms of functions at each layer. How do the layers map to the OSI Model layers. Describe the functions of hubs/repeaters, bridges, switches, routers, and gateways. At what layers of the OSI model does each device operate?

5. Depending on their needs and budget, companies can choose from a variety of perimeter security options. Discuss the differences between packet-filtering, stateful inspection, proxy, dynamic packet filtering, kernel proxy, and next generation firewalls and how they provide security filtering to protect the perimeter.

specific latent heat of vaporization

in 100 words or more each with references and in text citations answer each of the 3 questions.

  1.    Energy conservation refers to reducing energy consumption through using less of an energy service. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but only changed from one form into another or transferred from one object to another. The change in energy of an object is due to the transformation and is equal to the work done on the object or by the object for the transformation. For example, when an object is at a height, a potential energy is stored by virtue of its height. When the same object is dropped the height decreases. But because of the reduction in height, the potential energy is not destructed but it is only transformed into kinetic energy as visible from its velocity during the fall.
  2.    The quantity of heat is a measurement of the amount of heat that is present in a system. The formula of quantity of heat, q, is equal to the mass of substance, m, multiplied with the specific heat and the change in temperature. When the quantity of heat is negative – the system is depleted of its heat; however, if the quantity of heat is positive – then the system gains heat.  I am thinking what will be the SI unit of quantity of heat.
  3.           There are two types of specific latent heat: vaporization and fusion. The specific latent heat of vaporization is defined as the quantity of heat energy that is necessary to raise one unit of weight (pounds or grams) with no change of temperature in the surroundings. Like the name implies, this specific latent heat quantifies the transfer of energy when a substance’s state changes from liquid to gas or from gas to liquid. On the other hand, the specific heat of fusion is the quantity of heat that is necessary to raise one unit of weight without any change in temperature. This specific latent heat quantifies the transfer of energy when a substance’s state changes from a solid to a liquid or from a liquid to a solid.
