The influence of celebrities and the influence of parents

Essay 2: Comparison/Contrast

Task: For this assignment, you will write a 3–4 page essay comparing/contrasting two or more things. This is a process that you use when (1) you want to make a choice between two or more options (e.g., what course to enroll in, what movie to see, what CD to buy, etc.); (2) to persuade readers that one subject is better than another in some way (e.g., one restaurant has a better selection of seafood than the other); (3) to clear up confusion (e.g. by explaining the difference between a biologist and a biochemist); and/or (4) to persuade readers that two seemingly unlike subjects (people, events, texts, films, procedures–or anything else) possess similarities.
The comparison/contrast essay not only describes both the similarities and the differences of two or more subjects, but it also relies upon a detailed description of those aspects of your subjects that are relevant to your focus. For example, if you are taking someone to dinner and you must decide upon a restaurant, what is your main concern? Are you concerned with price, atmosphere, the variety of selections on the menu, or the restaurant’s reputation and/or rating?
When you begin to generate ideas for this essay, be sure to choose two subjects that are related or different in some ways. Although you are responsible for choosing a topic, the following suggestions may help you generate ideas for your essay.
• Watching a movie at home and watching it in a theater
• Reading an Ebook versus reading a print book
• Facebook and Twitter
• Traditional dating versus online dating
• Two approaches to parenting
• A book and its screen version
• Texting and calling
• Sending an e-mail and writing a letter
• Being an employee vs. being self-employed
• The influence of celebrities and the influence of parents
• A four-year college/university and a two-year college
• Two approaches to studying
• Celebrity influence and parental influence
• Two friends
• America before and after Sept. 11, 2001
• online classes versus on-campus classes
• two seasons of the year
• birth and death.
• high school and college;
• a topic of your choice.
FORMAT: Your essay should be typed, double-spaced, 12 point-size font, 1” margins, 3–4 pages in length, and include a title. Note: Choose either a block or point-by-point method of organization.
Your grade will be based on the following:
• response to the assignment;
• use of proper formatting;
• clear, concise, and well-positioned thesis statement;
• focus on parallel aspects of each item/subject;
• balanced treatment of both subjects/items;
• adequate development;
• use of transitional words/phrases; and
• control of grammar and mechanics.
Proofread carefully.

Overview of Assignment: Redefining Identity through Assimilation
So far, you have explored how individual racial and ethnic identities develop. You discovered that racial and ethnic identities are influenced by social processes. Racial and ethnic identities are also influenced by customs and language common to your culture. Next, you will examine how an immigrant may redefine his identity when he moves to a new country with a culture different from his home country.
When an immigrant moves to a new country, he may or may not assimilate into the new culture. If he chooses to assimilate, he disconnects from his original culture and adopts the customs, language, and other characteristics of his adopted culture. If he does not assimilate, he stays separate from the new culture and maintains his native customs, language, and the other characteristics of his culture. The article, “The Pressure to Cover” and the Asian Nation website article provide a more in-depth description of assimilation.
The choice to assimilate or not to assimilate determines whether or not an immigrant maintains his identity or redefines it. In this Assignment, non-immigrants refer to those who are native to the country to which an immigrant relocates. In the assigned readings, you will consider different points of view that relate to assimilation and redefining identity.
To prepare for this assignment:

*Review the article “The Pressure to Cover.” Pay particular attention to the concept of assimilation.
*Review the “Assimilation and Ethnic Identity” article on the Asian Nation Web site. Focus on connections between assimilation and ethnic identity.
*Consider one advantage and one disadvantage of assimilation from the perspective of an immigrant.
*Think about one advantage and one disadvantage of assimilation from the perspective of a non-immigrant.
*Reflect on how assimilation can influence immigrants to redefine their identity.

The Assignment (1-page), APA style format, No Plagiarism and must be cited with references. Thank you

(1).Explain one advantage and one disadvantage of assimilation from an immigrant’s perspective. Provide an example for each.
(2).Explain one advantage and one disadvantage of assimilation from a non-immigrant’s perspective. Provide an example for each.
(3).Explain how the choice to assimilate or not to assimilate can influence immigrants to redefine their identity.

#1. write 4 pages Essay on concentrating bellow topic:

Below is a summarized outline related to our final memorandum.
Readings on: 1. Josh Kosman, The Buyout of America
2. Michael Hudson, The Bubble and Beyond
Theses: something in the long of…U.S. economic system benefits small group of people (investors, mangers, and tiny board of directors). When the majority of population mainly the working class and poor have no power and are excluded from decision-making processes, there can be no democracy. How the economy system works to benefit and empower the rich (1%) and leave every one else (99%) dry. There needs to be an alternative to the capitalism thinking one that works for and helps the economy as a whole.

I want you to concentrated on these topics when writing the paper (Memorandum).
• Distribution of income is unequal (1% demanding more from the 99% well wages are stagnant). The system as it is operating now is stacked against the lower 99%; the playing field is hardly level.
• How firms always find ways make profit at the coast of employees (exploit people more and more).
• How the corporate level, financial engineering is more about raising stock prices than new tangible capital investment to expand their business.
• Mention how the 1% dominates the political sector throwing ‘big money’ to lobbyist to fight their plans in the legislation branch (government) and media. That political setting does not supported large portion of our population in terms of power and voice.
• How we cannot grow our way out of debt with a debt burden as enormous as it is today.
Conclusion:
End with saying how the economy will not get better unless the government set heave rules against these corporation and CEO who are taking high ricks in investing in bad credits and win and losing getting on top. Also to stop political system in bedding is corporations and bad banks.
• The government needs to create some kind of law (bill) that protects the interest of working class?
• To develop an *ethical economic practice (Buyout of America) approach to capitalism, particularly through the elaboration of a discourse of class difference (gab between rich and poor) in a democratic fashion.
• With citation, please keep it simple (Author , Page.) or ( Author ,Chapter )

Q1 Analyze a drier that reduces the moisture content of bentonite from 11% (bone dry basis) to 4% bdb. Assume the plant processes 100 tons/day is a gas fired rotary kiln (8 ft ID x 120 ft long). The burners on high-fire contribute 12(106) Btu/hr to the system. Bentonite is a mineral mined in western USA. Refined bentonite has many industrial uses. The delivery contract for processed bentonite specifies 6% moisture (bdb) as acceptable maximum. Can the plant raise production moisture to 5%, or 5.5%. If that is physically possible, they might reduce fuel costs. Look into this idea. Your report (6 pages maximum) should include mass balances for water and bentonite. Include other energy usage reduction ideas that you think about.

Q2 Evaluate the transition from oil based world economy to an economy driven by alternative energy sources. Include economic and political analyses. Discuss new source transmission of energy (does this exist, even in the research phase?). Include an analysis of climate variation due to new source utilization. Limit 10 pages not including graphics.
