Case study:
Mr. Jonathan Neo, a 61 year old Chinese male, widowed with one child, chronic smoker (10 sticks/day) since 26 years, pre-morbidly independent with poor social support, admitted to the general ward with chief complaints of shortness of breath, inhalers not effectiveness, fever for two days, vomiting and cough with whitish phlegm, no blood, nil complaint of chest pain. Reduced diet intake because of shortness of breath and vomiting.
Past medical history of Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with frequent hospitalization.
Upon examination, Mr. Jonathan Neo appears loss weight and lethargic, his blood pressure was 141/88 mm of Hg, heart rate 122/minute, respiratory rate 29/minute, oxygen saturation ranging from 87 to 90% on room air, temperature 38.3 degree Celsius.
Mr. Jonathan Neo looks tensed and emotional about his current hospitalization. He always verbalized that “I want to go back to home now”.

Anatomy- Osteoarthritis of the hip

World Civilizations-Explaining Imperialism

Word Civilizations Assignment III

Our third assignment will focus on the article “Explaining Imperialism: The State of the Art as Reflected in Three Theories.” This is not a very difficult article but it is somewhat dense and requires you to maintain focus. Overall it takes many of the most important theorist and theories concerning imperialism (these theories that try to explain why the great powers basically colonized most of the globe) and puts them into a few distinct general schools (groups that have basic elements in common.)
According to the article, other than ‘lateral pressure,’ what are the two schools of thought that have promoted theories in an attempt to explain imperialism or imperial expansion? You need only very briefly explain those and mention their major proponents.
Now, explain what the theory of “lateral pressure” is. How does it function? If we return to sugar once again as a desirable consumer commodity, could we use sugar to partially explain European colonization of the Caribbean as having been driven by aspects of lateral pressure? Is imperialism the only possible outcome of “lateral pressure?” Answer these questions in full detail.

Basically I am using sugar as a case study to see how well you have grasped the “lateral pressure argument.” What this means is that your introduction will be generally descriptive but you need to integrate a thesis statement (argument) into it on the topic of sugar and lateral pressure

The Cultural context of Advertising

 
1. Choosing two advertisements from different epochs could be the 1950s, the 1980s, the 1940s or 1960s; the choice is yours. Whichever you decide, you might find it useful to pick advertisements which evidence a distinct contrast in terms of ideologies, ideas and social attitudes. Here, and using the knowledge of visual language gained from readings, you are looking to consider how these advertisements reflect the cultural context of their times.
2. To address the ideological aspect of the brief you might find it helpful to use any one theory, concept or theme, covered during the course or in your reading. So, the basis of your comparison could have to do with say gender, sexual identity or class. Here, you’re looking to use semiotic tools in order to tease out the meaning of advertisements and how these might form the basis of an ideological comparison. For example, consider how the role of men and women in the household is represented in advertising of the 1950s compared with 2015 – what does such a comparison tell us about shifting ideas of gender identity ?

This weeks assignment will require you to think about Jim’s Gyms current customers and its potential future customers (either new or poached from the competitors). Develop a customer service plan that will help Jim’s Gyms maintain their current base of existing customers. What are some tactics you can employ so as to not lose any (more) customers.

Part 2 is to develop a new/or revise the old lead generation plan and incorporate a lead conversion plan. What are your sales goals? How will you achieve them? How will you measure them? How will you reward/punish those who do/not accomplish their goals? Remember, you’re working with commissioned sales people, their motives tend to be different tan salaried sales people. This point of distinction is very critical.
