GRADING STANDARDS FOR RESPONSE PAPERS:
A: The argument is clearly articulated and logically developed, using relevant
evidence. The evidence used is of high quality, cleverly ordered to support the
argument with an original and creative synthesis of materials and displaying
understanding of wider issues. The presentation is of high standard.
B: The argument is well proposed, but the structure is not fully developed. The
evidence used is quite extensive but sources are not fully utilized which limits the
ability to be creative and deal with a full range of issues. The presentation is solid
but can be improved.
C: The argument is satisfactory, with some limitations, but the structure is not well
thought out. The evidence used is adequate, but insufficient to develop fully the
argument or display much originality. The presentation is adequate and could be
improved.
D: While the essay displays a basic understanding of the subject, the argument lacks
coherence and logical development. The evidence provided is basic or does not
sufficiently support the argument nor display originally or understanding of wider
issues. The presentation is not of sufficient standard.
F: The presentation is well below acceptable standard. The essay is incoherent with
glaring misunderstandings.

Does Speculation of Futures of Food Commodities impact the Food Prices?

I am investigating whether the speculation of futures for Food Commodities has an impact on the food prices. I will be doing this through investigating whether the volatility in the futures of Food Commodities cause volatility of its underlying spot price.

Motivation is to show the speculation, which is secondary markets beings used as gambling casinos, has negative externalities on society. In particular food prices. Which is why, the futures and spot prices for – wheat, corn, sugar will be used.

I need a good quality literature review showing that forces beyond supply and demand, are in place for the prices of futures, in this case speculation.

Literature Review – what is been written so far on this.

I will upload files – with more details.
For example – financialization of commodities.

I need a Literature Review – which shows that my disseration will contribute, in the sense it will show it has an impact on food prices, via the volatility caused by speculation on its underlying spot prices – for food. Therfore, impact food prices.
Wheat, Corn and Sugar is found in nearly every food product in the supermarket. Nutritionists say walking down the aisle of a supermarket is like walking down a corn field.

Good to show how trading strategies in speculation, cause prices to rise. Trading strategies where if the price if rising, it is predicted the price will rise higher, they buy then sell. I hope this is understood – as I require more detailed explanation in this.
What is Speculation? vs the purpose of futures, and the existance of the secondary market- risk, liquidity – (just briefly touch on this)
WHat is Finanicialisation? (again brief)
How does it cause volatility? (breif)_

Main = literature review on specualtion of futures affecting prices. For example there is a paper (will upload), how speculation in oil commodities affect food prices.

I will also upload the methodology, it is of any help. Usually in Literature Review it is not.

Homeland Security

This assignment is a take-home essay assignment of two questions. For each question, the student is expected to develop a 4-5 page essay that fully responds to the question.

Paper 1: What are the capabilities and limitations of intelligence in supporting homeland security efforts?

This paper should provide an examination of the various elements that comprise the intelligence community from local law enforcement to national agencies and how each of those entities contributes to the development of homeland security intelligence. In crafting your paper it would be good to remember the lessons learned from the 9/11 Commission on intelligence sharing and analyze how those lessons/recommendations are being addressed. Lastly, your examination of the question should include the issue of domestic versus foreign intelligence.

Paper 2: Critique the capability of the homeland security system of the United States to meet forecast and emergent future challenges.

In your midterm assignment you were tasked with writing an essay that compared and contrasted the missions and objectives that define the terms homeland security, homeland defense and national security as identified in the various strategies and policies of the United States. This essay should reflect your judgment as to the capability of the homeland security system to achieve those missions and objectives. In developing your response you should also address the apparent dichotomy between efforts to provide for homeland security while maintaining civil liberties. Your judgment should be supported through sound and fair reasoning through your evaluation of the materials and discussions you have had in this class. This evaluation should move beyond what you like or personally think. Through a critical review of the materials and reflective analysis of the facts presented you should develop a deeper understanding of this issue and from that deeper understanding formulate a defensible evaluation

8-10 pages, double spaced, 1″ margins, 12 pitch type in Times New Roman font.

political science

i have three essay question . name of the books that you will find the answers( the prince by niccolo machiavelli – boethius consolation of philosophy ,penguin classics
A. What are the main tenets of the Ancient-Modern debate?
B. Boethius finds himself in jail. At first, he is profoundly upset. What is the cause of his
suffering? Then, Philosophy appears and attempts to “cure” his suffering. How does she do this? Hint: she does this by reminding him of what he once knew about the true nature of human beings; the true nature of fortune; and true nature of happiness, and the limits of politics to provide happiness. In order to answer this question, make sure you identify all the relevant parts.

For example, what does Philosophy tell Boethius about the essence of human nature (there are two things specifically). Why are these things so important to Philosophy and Boethius? How do they influence or direct one’s perspective? In addition, what is it about Fortune that human beings should be leary of? And, why does Boethius call fame; power; wealth; and physical beauty false happiness? What is it about these things that makes them false? And, make sure you can explain how, and why, the various parts of Boethius’ position hold together the way they do.
C. Machiavelli seeks to disconnect morality from politics. Indeed, Machiavelli is said to help invent the Modern Era. To do this he rejects Boethius’ understanding of human nature, fortune, happiness, and the ability of politics to provide us with happiness. Explain how Machiavelli diverges from the Ancient view of human nature (Plato and Boethius). Next, what does he say about the nature of human happiness, and what sort of things does it consist of? Why does Machiavelli make this claim about human happiness? What is it about the Ancient conception of morality and human nature that Machiavelli rejects? Given his understanding of human nature and happiness, how does he interpret our relationship with fortune? What is so radically new about Machiavelli’s stance toward fortune? Finally, what does Machiavelli mean by Virtu? And how does it differ from traditional virtue?
