International Relations with Politics

I urgently need a personal statement for my future course: International relations.
I wanted to start expressing my beliefs and then use that to reflect on what I see in the world and then conclude with how attending their university would allow me to be a positive agent for change in the world.

smorgasbord ghuroor

To allow students to explore an additional topic or two of interest to them, we will ask you to listen to one or more of the smorgasbord talks. Each lecture has a lecture time associated with it. You will be asked to listen to the lectures of YOUR choice within that menu and accumulate at least 120 minutes of lecture. [Please show the “math”, i.e., give the official time for each presentation viewed.] We will then have you write a brief review of what you have watched: For each 20 minutes, write a point along the lines of what were the most IMPORTANT points of the talk? What question does the talk raise? What would improve the presentation? Are there other topics that this talk suggested that you might like to hear? A total of at least 6 points should be covered for the exercise. (A talk of 75 minutes can have 3 or 4 points – they do NOT need to be from the 1st 10 minutes, the 2nd 10 minutes etc. – just 3 or 4 appropriate points.) If the other talk is 55 minutes, you need 2 or 3 points to make your 6! PLEASE CLEARLY NUMBER YOUR SIX (6) POINTS. The actual discussion board postings can be very similar to those you use for the on-line lectures and in-class lecture discussion postings. Note: The Passover lectures for Cornell students are included in the regular course requirements and, therefore, cannot be used for the Smorgasbord requirement.

Management Information Systems

Read chapter 7-8-9 and answer one question of each chapter. The questions are below and will also be sent via email
1. Explain the five different networking elements creating a connected world.
2. You need to understand how the Internet works? How does email go from the
Empire State College to Boston University? Or how does a web page go from client
to server back to client?
Go to https://computer.howstuffworks.com/internet-infrastructure.htm for an overview of
how the Internet infrastructure works. There are some great diagrams and easy to
understand explanations. Write what was the most interesting you have learned and what
was the most surprising for you?
3. Research the Internet to find the reasons why people are required to turn off their
cell phones when they are on an airplane.
4. Develop a completely mobile and wireless class for the future. Take into
consideration the following:
 How would lectures be given?
 How would questions be asked and answered?
 How would assignments be given and collected?
 How would group projects be performed?
 How would students separate work and nonwork time?
 How would exams be administered?
 Would this type of class be better or worse than a traditional class?
Chapter 8
5. Describe supply chain management along with its associated benefits and
challenges.
6. Describe customer relationship management along with its associated benefits and
challenges.
Management Information Systems Assignment 3 Renata Kochut
2
7. Organizations can find their most valuable customers through “RFM” – Recency,
Frequency, and Monetary value
 How recently a customer purchased items (Recency)
 How frequently a customer purchased items (Frequency)
 How much a customer spends on each purchase (Monetary Value)
Form a CRM strategy for a new company that provides online tutoring. The strategy should
address how to gain new customers and how to keep existing customers.
Chapter 9
8. Describe the seven phases of the systems development life cycle.
9. Explain project management and identify the primary reasons projects fail.
10. There are many issues and obstacles to outsourcing such as time zone differences
and accents. Research the Internet to find examples of companies that have
experience issues with outsourcing and problems they have.
There is also a great video by Thomas Friedman on his famous book The World is Flat. The
video lasts around 40 minutes.
11. The article below explains how the recession is impacting outsourcing and the top
countries.
Read the article and answer the following questions:
– What impact will outsourcing have on your career path?
– What can you do to compete in an outsourced industry or flat world?
– As a business leader what concerns do you have about outsourcing to these countries
and what can you do to alleviate these concerns?

Analysis / Forecasting Dat

a
Scenario: You are still a consultant for the Excellent Consulting Group. You have completed the first assignment, developing and testing a forecasting method based on linear regression (Case 3). However, your consulting manager at ECG wants to go the next step and investigate another forecasting method. It is important to do a thorough job for the client, and you have the expertise to analyze different forecasting methods. You have decided to look at the sales data for client’s lottery app as a single data set and use a time series analysis, namely SES, single exponential smoothing.
Case Assignment
Using Excel, use the forecasted sales (select tab on bottom) from Case 3 to compute the MAPE, by doing the following:
1. Find the MAPE for the first 12 months (assume the forecast for Month 1 – or January – is equal to January’s actual sales). To find the MAPE, you will need to compare actual sales for each month, or Y(t), to forecasted sales, or F(t).
2. Next, forecast the sales for the next three months (Feb – Apr), and compute the MAPE for this 3-month period. Compare this 3-month MAPE to the MAPE you calculated for the SES analysis (Case 4).
Then write a report to your boss that briefly describes the results that you obtained. Make a final recommendation on which method to use, SES or Linear Regression.
Paper should include two files: (1) An Excel file; and (2) A Word document.
Data: See attachment with data that I previously have and generated from your analyses in Case 3.
Assignment Expectations
Analysis
• Accurate and complete SES analysis in Excel.
Written Report: (Use Heading for paragraphs)
• Length requirements = 4 pages minimum (not including Cover and Reference pages)
• Provide a brief introduction/ background of the problem.
• Complete and accurate Excel analysis.
• Written analysis that supports Excel analysis, and provides thorough discussion of assumptions, rationale, and logic used.
• Complete, meaningful, and accurate recommendation(s).
* Note: See attachments with Case 3- Data for assignment and complete instructions. Paper should include two files: (1) An Excel file; and (2) A Word document.

Ho Chi Minh and Vietnamese Independence

This assignment I need you to read the speech and provide answers to the following questions:

Was Ho Chi Minh a Communist? To many Americans he was. But to many Vietnamese he was a nationalist hero, and to even a few Americans he was that as well, plus a friend, and ally and a comrade in arms during World War 2. It may be hard to paint Ho with any color other than gray, and now, nearly 50 years after his death and 40 years after the end of the American war in Vietnam, even that color has faded with time. What we do have are his words.

The link below will take you the speech Ho Chi Minh gave on September 2, 1945, in which he proclaimed Vietnam’s independence, and its arrival on the world stage.
Questions for exploration:

HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS THAT I NEED YOU ALL TO ANSWER.

1. Ho’s speech proclaiming Vietnam’s independence contains a demand that the free world support that independence in part as payment for services rendered during World War 2. What ‘service’ did Vietnam render during that conflict?
2. Ho claims that Vietnam’s independence is consistent with the philosophical principles which the Allies claimed were paramount during World War 2. What principles was Ho referring to, and does he make references to occasions where those principles were reasserted?
3.In the speech, Ho mentions crimes committed by the French during their occupation of Vietnam. Which crimes, as you read them, were in your opinion most severe and justified Vietnamese independence?

Homeland Security

These two courses are: Public Health Implications of disasters (core requirement) &  (elective course).
This order is to do the second presentation BUT as a GROUP WORK for the course of Public Health Implications of Disasters ACCORDING TO THE GUIDELINES OF PRESENTATION of how to do it from the professor, which can be found in the third file called, Guidelines of Presentation.
Please remember that remember that any slides without these guidelines means nothing according to the professor. This presentation is due in week 4 (the week of presentation) and the content of this week taken from the organizer is, please see the organizer:
Surge Capacity

1. Define surge capacity and discuss the relevance of this term to emergency healthcare in a disaster setting.
2. Describe the different tiers of response for healthcare systems as they ramp up for a disaster according to Barbera et al in the MSCC document.
3. Define the differences between medical surge capacity and surge capability. Describe methods to improve or increase surge capacity and capability in US hospitals during disaster operations.
NOW, the instructions of presentation itself are as follows:
1. Slideshow: The Medical Surge Capacity and Capability document written by Dr. Barbera and his colleagues is the de facto comprehensive document on ramping up healthcare assets in the US to respond to a disaster. It can be found on the US Department of Health and Human Services – A Management System for Integrating Medical and Health Resources During Large-Scale Emergencies.pdf.
It describes a systematic approach for managing the medical and public health response to an emergency or disaster. The MSCC handbook identifies recent changes to the Federal emergency response structure, particularly the Federal public health and medical response. It also expands on several concepts described in the first edition of the MSCC handbook to facilitate their implementation. While the tiered approach described in this handbook is consistent with NIMS and the NRP, this revision addresses terminology and concept descriptions to assure consistency with Federal guidance.”
This assignment necessitates describing each of the 6 tiers of response for medical assets as it appears in the document. Prepare a slideshow in which you summarize ONE chapter or tier of MSCC. Employ other internet resources, the DHHS website, photos and any other elements to paint a picture for the rest of your class about your assigned chapter. By reading all of the submissions, you will learn about the MSCC document without having to read the entire thing word for word.

*I will assign partners as this is a group project.
The assigned reading of Wk 4, the week of presentation, are:
1. Landesman chapter 7
2. Koenig and Schultz chapter 3
3. Medical Surge Capacity and Capability (Barbera, et al)

These two courses are: Public Health Implications of Disater (core requirement) & Homeland Security (elective course).
As per our recent message, I have this order for week 2 belonging to the course of Homeland Security and Defense for the program of my master which is Disaster Medicine and management.
– I will start with the course description (taken from the syllabus I’ve sent you before): DMM 612 Foundations of Homeland Security and Defense The United States has embraced the homeland security monolith having neither fully understood nor tamed all that it encompasses. This challenging course provides a broad overview of homeland security and homeland defense as undertaken in the United States since 9/11 and under different administrations. The goal is to provide the generally accepted body of knowledge required of the homeland security professional. The course focuses on four areas: the enemy, why they hate us, and the threat they pose; the policies and procedures enacted since 9/11; the key players at the federal, state and local levels; and legal issues critical to the conduct of homeland security and defense activities by the National Guard. The student will be gain an understanding in asymmetric thinking, develop an appreciation for the growing body of literature in the discipline of homeland security, and have the opportunity to examine a key issue in depth through a term research paper.

-The topic of this week, Wk 2: Critical Infrastructure Identification, Prioritization, and Protection (NOTE that there is a relationship between this topic of Wk 2 and the topic of the slides you’ve benn working on)

Comparative Study of Ancient Greek Play and Elizabethan English Play

Write a research paper that compares the culture and historical periods of Ancient Greek and Elizabethan English periods and discuss how the theatrical work of those two periods functioned within their respective societies. What kind of commonalities are found in this kind of comparative study and what can be ascertained from differences? How were the plays might be received by their audience during the time it was originally performed? Use Sophocles’ “Ajax”,”Philoctetes” and Aristophanes’ “Wasps” for Ancient Greek Plays, and use Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” “Othello” for Elizabethan English plays. For the Greek plays, make sure to cite the version translated by Peter Meineck (1998). No specific requirement for the Shakespeare plays. Including these plays, a totally of 15 sources are required
