viewing Sentenced Home, what were the primary sources of your information about the Cambodian community? How accurate were those sources?

A natural disaster has occurred across the state

A natural disaster has occurred across the state. Disastrous conditions affect everyone. There will be no power, running water or any assistance until further notice. Fortunately, you are a franchised mega storeowner and right before the disastrous storm a large order of supplies had arrived to your store. You have the ability to help the wounded, hydrate and feed a couple thousand individuals for upwards of two weeks. The problem is there is no power to run any of the cash registers and no accessibility to cash by any individual due to the extreme damage caused by the storm. As the owner of this large and very successful business, you have made the decision to give away all inventories in the store until the shelves are clear. Although, the franchisee owner has given an order that all doors must be shut ASAP, or you will be responsible in paying a $10,000.00 fine with future penalties to follow. You know that insurance will cover all losses from products given away. What is your ultimate decision? Do you give away everything becoming a local hero; pay the fine while helping everyone who is in desperate need or do you shut the doors as you have been advised? Depending on your decision to this dilemma, what kind of benefits or criticisms will unfold with your choice?

Gender and entrepreneurship

Part 1: Construct a questionnaire. (The questionnaire used 200 words to design and put them in the appendix)
This part should follow from your group presentation where you already reviewed and discussed the relevant literature to outline relevant concepts that are of interest to you.
More specifically this part should include a very brief background to your research, a very brief review of literature to outline relevant concepts. It should lead into an outline of your research questions or/and hypotheses.

Part 2: Data collection
This part is the core methodology hence it should show how you constructed your questionnaire (why those questions – relate to your Part 1), your sampling strategy, data collection procedures and how you imputed loaded the data into SPSS (You must usee SPSS software to collect data and analyse Data.

Part 3: Data analysis
This part is the continuation of Part 2 hence it should include the analysis of your collected data as well as the justification of the chosen statistical tests. It is vital that, in this part, you relate back to Part 1 (i.e. what research questions you wanted to answer).

Part 4: Discussion
This part forms the concluding remarks of your work. Hence, it should report and discuss your findings, possible limitations of your work as well as any research implications and/or relevance for management.

It is strongly recommended that you start designing your questionnaire and collecting data as soon as possible as it will not be possible to write the assignment just before the deadline if you have not done the preparatory data design and collection (i.e. questionnaire) beforehand. The minimum sample of your respondents should not be less than 30. You can have your class mates filling out the questionnaire as part of the learning process. Beyond that, I strongly encourage you to go out and recruit real respondents and let this be a real learning experience. The questionnaire administration procedure would bring out many issues that were not prominent until now. I expect you to finish the data collection process in time so that you have enough time to write your assignment on time.
At this stage, I will recommend you use SPSS for your data analysis. However, if you feel comfortable with other statistical packages, like for example STATA, you can do so. If you need more help and time to practice the use of SPSS please us this link for on-line tutorials: http://www.ats.ucla.edu/stat/. I am sure you will find them very useful.

The maximum word count for your work is 3000 words (excluding submission of your SPSS output file and your questionnaire). Please remember that the SPSS file and your questionnaire will NOT be part of your word count.
Remember, I am not looking for the perfect research, but for you to identify how you undertook the research project with regards to data design, collection and analysis.
If applicable, please make sure to complete an ethics checklist before you undertake your research.

Your assignment will be marked using the following criteria:

ASSESSMENT GRADE DESCRIPTORS
The assignment has been designed to assess your understanding and critical awareness of the key components of quantitative research. Thus, the key elements that I will assess along are the demonstration of knowledge and understanding via the content, and the ability to write with clarity and coherence, including the ability to reference correctly.

ASSESSMENT GRADE DESCRIPTORS
Grading structure will give you an idea how marks will be allocated based on the above criteria.
The grades indicate the likely characteristics of work that is marked within the percentage bands indicated.
GRADE DESCRIPTION
90-100% A complete questionnaire and dataset used (and where necessary accurate treatment of missing values) with an outstanding explanation of data design, collection, analysis as well as sampling procedures; all statistical tests are accurately carried out, outstandingly interpreted, and there is an outstanding appreciation of potential biases and limitations; an outstanding discussion that draws on state-of-the art literature clearly linked to the aims and objectives; outstandingly reasoned and evidenced conclusions that identify meaningful areas for future research; outstanding quality of presentation, writing and referencing.
80%-89% A complete questionnaire and dataset (and where necessary accurate treatment of missing values) with an excellent explanation of data design, collection, analysis as well as sampling procedures; all statistical tests are accurately carried out and interpreted with an excellent appreciation of potential biases and limitations; an excellent discussion that draws on the literature; excellently reasoned and evidenced conclusions that identify areas for future research; excellent quality of presentation, writing and referencing.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ASSIGNMENT 2: QUESTIONNAIRE
The questionnaire version you submit with your work will be the one I will be evaluating. Therefore, make sure you pre-test it on someone before submitting handing it in and starting your assignment.
I am very particular about the instructions listed below. While creativity is generally encouraged during seminars, since most of you have limited (if no) experience in writing an effective questionnaire, this is not a time to demonstrate your creative skills.
Please follow the directions bellow diligently, you will get penalized for not following them. The intention here is to learn the rules first, so you can break them later once you master them. The questionnaire assignment will be organized as follows:

 First page: your name, objective(s) and hypothesis.
 Second page: title of survey (bold, center), followed by instructions for the respondents, and immediately begin the questionnaire on the same page.
1. Please use Times Roman 12 font size.
2. Make sure there is a short but clear introduction of your work included on top of the questionnaire
3. Write complete and clear instructions for potential respondents. Please, assume nothing on part of the respondents.
4. In rating questions, use the Liker scales Use titles on each column of boxes. .
5. The questionnaire should follow the questions in a chronological sequence. For example, the questions about use of the product should follow the questions about purchase of that product.
6. Try to bundle similar questions together (e.g., all the questions about the décor of a particular fast food restaurant should appear together).
7. When asking close ended questions that have options of “Yes” and “No”, make sure the first letter is capital, just as I wrote it here.
8. If a question is a branching one, make sure appropriate instructions for skipping the subsequent question(s) is present. For example,
Question 8.1. Have you heard of hybrid cars? (Please tick the appropriate):
Yes  No (Please skip to question # 6)
If “Yes”, Do you think hybrids cars will become main stream in next 5 years? (Please tick the appropriate):
 Yes  No
Question 6. XXXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX

INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLOGY

Compose three (3) opinion pieces reflecting a topic of social relevance. Topics should be chosen from current events (current reflecting any

time between January16, 2018 and May 11, 2018). Acceptable sources for events include print and electronic newspapers (no tabloids or blogs).
As this is an opinion piece, you do not have to agree with the source, but you should not be derogatory in your expression. You should construct

this letter as if you were writing for submission to a newspaper.
Your letter should be no longer than 200 words, double-spaced, and free of grammatical errors. Remember to reference the original news article,

including its date, in your letter.

Letters will be scored according to Organization/Response, Grammar, and Format.

Sustainability Science

Sustainability Science
Students will be analyzing, evaluating, and considering sustainability science using current news stories for their final project this semester.

Students will identify one news story (article) and write a 2-3 page analysis.
Briefly describe the article in the first paragraph. In the next two paragraphs, identify the sustainability theme that is noted in the article.

Justify how you know this is indeed the sustainability theme of the article. In the following paragraphs, analyze the news story using the following

prompts:

Why do you believe this article related to the topic of sustainability?
Why is this topic of interest to those that are concerned with sustainability and related topics?
Who is the article aiming to convince and/or share this information with (policy makers, certain community members, non-profit organizations, the

public, etc.)?
What larger/meta sustainability topic explored in our course this semester does this article connect with (population, poverty, food, water, energy,

new energy, etc.)? Demonstrate/highlight that you indeed see a clear connection.
How does the article connect to the Four Ways of Thinking used in our course (Futures, Values, Systems, Strategic)? Does it directly connect to all

four or just a few of them? Be specific.
How did the information in this article reinforce or contradict the data, logic, and ideas in this course? Please use at least one specific example

from the article and one specific example from the courses online content to support your answer. Be specific and use details, facts, logic, and ideas

from the course. Make sure to point to them and let me know where you found the information (for example, reference a specific section/segment in one

of our videos).
Work Cited: Outline all of the resources/references used to prepare your project. (Use APA format)

Contract Law

There are 2 formal assignments during the course. Together they comprise 30% of the final marks and they are due to be submitted via Moodle by

13:30 on Friday 19th February and 13:30 on Friday 25th March. No extensions will be granted without a good reason and written proof is

required, e.g. a doctors certificate. Please refer to the School of Management student guidelines for further information on extension requests

and late submissions.

Each assignment will be in the form of a problem question or questions. You are asked to have a practical rather than academic approach, with

extra marks being awarded for consideration of factors outside the specific problem e.g. whether it is worth suing, tactics etc.

Collaboration on assignments is not permitted on this course. All work should be undertaken individually. Any assignment showing evidence of

collaboration will be given zero, and the student’s department informed.

There is a word limit of 2,500 words for each assignment, which is strictly enforced. Marks will not be deducted for work going over the limit,

but only the first 2,500 words will be assessed.

Scripts will be marked within 2 – 3 weeks of being submitted, and will be marked in accordance with the following criteria.

Assignment Criteria

1. Clear and succinct writing, structure and presentation, including an introduction and conclusion.

2. Identification and understanding of the relevant law

3. Ability to apply the law to the facts, without straying into unnecessary detail.

4. Evidence of good research, and correct citation of legislation, case law and textbooks.

5. Overall value of the report to the company.

Mr and Mrs Jones have booked a double room for 3 nights at £100 per night in The Beach Hotel in Brighton. Before they booked the room online,

they emailed the hotel to ask if the room was quiet, saying it was very important to them. The Manager of the hotel, Basil, emailed back,

assuring them that yes, the room was very quiet.

When they arrived, they saw behind the counter a sign saying “Guests are advised to put their valuables in the hotel safe. No liability can be

accepted for loss of valuables, howsoever caused.” This clause was also in the hotel’s terms and conditions, which could have been viewed at the

time of booking by the couple, but were not.

Unfortunately, the couple had jewellery worth £1,000 stolen from their room whilst they were out on their first day. Also, they were kept awake

all night by noise, as the room was next to the service elevator. They approached Basil, and said they were going to cancel their remaining 2

nights’ booking, they demanded a full refund of £300, and also said they were going to sue for the loss of their jewellery.

Advise Basil on the legal situation, including what claim(s) could be brought against him, their chances of success, and recommendations for

action.

Critique of Non-Web Based Stress Reduction Techniques

Locate a non web-based source dealing with stress. This resource might be a book, video, or audio from the library or a bookstore. Also, it could be a stress-related support group. There may be other sources. Based on your chosen resource, develop a critique of approximately 500-600 words, which, at a minimum, includes the following:

APA style with citations, Three sources required.

1. The purpose or objectives of the source or service; usefulness, appropriateness and credibility.
2. If a book, audio or video, the author, publisher and cost to purchase;
3. If a support group, the sponsor and any rules about access and/or obligation to the Group;
4. Three references to other useful stress-related resource

Whistleblowing

Step 1: Select a topic not specifically discussed in class from the Unique Ethical Issues from weeks 3, 5, 7.
Step 2: Write a brief one-to-two page paper that introduces the unique ethical issue that will be researched and identify the ethical dilemma

that will be discussed.
Step 3: Provide 10 scholarly or credible resources that you will use in the paper as supporting documentation. Three of the resources will come

from the class readings. (I just need to list the sources on this paper at least about 5)
Note: Once the instructor has provided approval, you will thoroughly research on the topic.
Third person writing is required. Third person means that there are no words such as “I, me, my, we, or us” (first person writing), nor is there

use of “you or your” (second person writing). If uncertain how to write in the third person, view this link:

http://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/first-second-and-third-person.
Contractions are not used in business writing, so you are expected NOT to use contractions in writing this assignment.

The expectation is that you provide a robust use of the course readings. No other books besides the course eBook can be used. When using a

source document, the expectation is that the information is cited and referenced with a page or paragraph number.

Policy Alternatives

Policy Alternatives

Taxes, retirement, and financial policies are some of the most controversial areas of policy development. There are a variety of opinions, data sources, and expert reports out there on each of these areas. Therefore, along with all proposed policy, it is important that we can evaluate each policy. In this week’s lesson, we discussed the three primary and five ancillary evaluative criteria that Kraft considers essential in analyzing policies. So let’s put this information into practice.

Let’s take a look at the National Center for Policy Analysis, a conservative think tank. I want you to chose one of the articles from either the taxes tab: (http://www.ncpa.org/taxes/) or the retirement tab (http://www.ncpa.org/retirement).

For your post:

(1) Summarize the key points made within the article.

(2) Now, select at least three evaluative criteria from this week’s lesson to analyze the points made in the article. For example, did the author address the equity of the policy and if so, what did they say? If they didn’t address it, what do you think the author would have said about the missing evaluative criteria?

(3) Analyze the policy alternatives (eg, including a liberal think tank) for your selected policy topic/article.

WEEK READING INFO
There are three primary evaluative criteria and five other criteria outlined in our course text. They are: 1) effectiveness – which concerns how well a policy achieves its goal; 2) efficiency – which concerns the cost of a policy in relation to its expected benefits; 3) equity – which concerns the level of fairness in the distribution of costs and benefits in society; 4) ethics – which concerns the impacts on cultural norms; 5) political feasibility – which concerns the level of acceptance of a proposed policy by elected officials; 6) social acceptability – which concerns the level of public acceptance and support of a proposed policy; 7) administrative feasibility – which concerns the ability to implement a proposed policy; and, 8) technical feasibility – which concerns the availability and reliability of the technology needed to implement a proposed policy.
