In response to the sexual assault and murder of 7-year old Megan Kanka by a convicted sex offender out on parole and the public uproar that

ensued, the state of New Jersey enacted “Megan’s Law.” The law, as originally passed, required sex offenders, upon their release from prison, to

register with New Jersey law enforcement authorities, who are to notify the public about their release. The public was also to be provided with

the offender’s name; a recent photograph; a physical description; a list of the offenses for which he or she was convicted; the offender’s

current address and place of employment or school; and the offender’s automobile license plate number. Currently, all 50 states and the federal

government have Megan’s laws that require sex offenders released from prison to register with local law enforcement authorities. Megan’s laws

are not uniform across states. For example, not all states require active community notification; many of them (including the U.S. government)

only make the information available to the public. Research your state’s Megan’s Law. Based on the ideal characteristics of a criminal law (see

pages 96-97 in the text), is Megan’s Law a “good” law? Discuss each characteristic as it relates to the statute. (respond with a minimum of 250

Addressing the Challenge with Leadership

This paper will be an application of the leadership practice concepts learned throughout your degree program to a real-world situation. In an eight- to ten-page paper, discuss one significant organizational challenge, within your organization or an organization you have researched. How did the leadership of the organization address the challenge? Could it have been done more effectively? How would you recommend future leaders strategically plan to avoid encountering a similar challenge within their own organizations? Provide suggestions for overcoming the challenge based on your own research and concepts presented in your degree program and grounded in leadership theory. Some challenges to consider would be (but are not limited to): an ethical challenge, a challenge occurring because of changes in the economy, a globalization challenge, or a challenge of organizational culture. The Final Paper should, at minimum, include:

Writing the Final Paper
The Final Paper:

3. Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.

8. Must include, on the final page, a reference list that is completed according to APA style.

You are required to complete an original 8-10-page research paper (NOT including title page, abstract and references) to complete the course.

The research paper must contain the following:
1. A significant problem, question or issue bearing on U.S. financial markets and institutions,
2. Research that demonstrates the validity and applicability of the problem, question or issue in the field,
3. A solution to the problem, question or issue or, if no solution is available, a discussion of alternatives that may be utilized and
4. At least five references: two from Mergent and Business Source Complete via the library and the remaining from news articles and

relevant internet sites.
The research paper must adhere to APA style in all respects. The paper must be submitted on time. Late submission receive no credit.
In a WORD document, provide a summary of your research paper topic with a brief explanation of the issue or problem you want to consider. Also,

please mention specific chapters in our text to which your research topic relates. I will review the topic and get back to you with approval or

suggest changes as required.
