For assignment 1, you will think critically about a social problem important to you. You can select
any problem, as long as you provide evidence (not just your opinion or personal observations) that
it meets the criteria of a social problem. This assignment draws heavily on our Macionis textbook
and on class lectures. You will need to integrate both to do well on the assignment.
