Perspectives Discussion

Perspectives Discussion

Objective 4: Investigate how conflict partners fail to see one another’s point of view. Often conflict continues or escalates simply because we do not see the other person’s viewpoint. We come to an impasse and there seems to be no way out. But it is critical to see a conflict from “the other person’s eyes” if we are going to resolve issues effectively. LEARNING ASSIGNMENT TOPIC: Perspectives Discussion Read the fable called Five Blind Men and the Elephant. Prepare for discussion concerning how this fable applies to conflicts:  Why is perception so critical in resolving conflicts?  Why does it not help to be too adamant that you are “right” in a conflict?  What is an example you have experienced or observed where part of the problem was failing to be aware of the other person’s point of view?

Sampling Design

Write a 350 word paper using the scenario and two variables your learning team developed for the Week 2 Business Research Project Part 1 assignment, in which the goal is to submit a random sampling plan in such detail that another researcher could replicate the method.
Discuss the following:
Population and size
The target population and brief reasoning
Sampling element which may be conducted through any of the following:
Data mining
Survey (If a survey is chosen, create a 5-10 question document), or
Observation
The sample size
Method of random sampling which may include:
Simple
Stratified
Systematic
Cluster
Calculate the sample size for the mean or sample or sample size for the proportion, using a 95% confidence level, estimated population standard deviation or estimate of the true population proportion, and a 5% margin of error. Place the calculation in the Appendix.
Discuss how validity and reliability will be achieved.
If applicable, explain how human subjects will be protected.

Part 2: Data Collection
Explain how the data will be physically collected.
Explain where data will be stored and how it will be protected.

Format your paper consistent with APA guidelines.

Investigate one pope and one artist mentioned in the learning activities for this module. It is then up to you to turn any fun information you find on said pope and said artist in to a Jeopardy! question. For instance, let’s say you really want to learn more about Raphael, so you go to the Internet (make sure it is a reputable source) and read about his life. You then find out that he was quite the ‘player’ and all kinds of other fun information. Use the “Click to Launch” link above to go to the “Discussion Board” and put Raphael into the title thread line and post this: “This artist had so many girlfriends that he ended up dying of a venereal disease when he was quite young.” Answer: “Who is Raphael?” and then cite your source (don’t forget to cite your source). You are writing two questions, one about a pope and one about an artist. Then you are to read at least two other posts from other people and respond to them. Ho hum information will not get you a good grade – we are looking for obscure details and fun facts. If you post “This is the real last name of Michelangelo”, answer “What is Buonarrati?”, we will not be impressed. However, if you find information about a pope’s mistress or his illegitimate children, you will win our undying admiration. A well written post, that will receive the highest grade, will also include information that pertains to your answer—a paragraph or two explaining your question and answer.

Task force/committee selection

Submit a response to the Discussion Question (DQ)
Question response length, 500 words, utilizes multiple, supplemental resources to research and support response positions. Student integrates personal and/or professional examples to demonstrate application of principles APA-style
DQ1) Discuss characteristics, roles, and other considerations for task force/committee selection. Identify some “points of failure” in team selection and examine the potential risks or “land mines” for the project at large should the requirements for team selection fall short.

Discussion Case – Long Term Care Administration

As a major component of the health care delivery system, long-term care (LTC) has been receiving increasing attention in both developed and developing countries. LTC is closely associated with disabilities emanating from chronic conditions that are mostly related to human aging. Developed countries have seen a steep rise in chronic conditions, and the trend will continue. Thanks to better sanitation, nutrition, and medical care, longevity is increasing in developing countries. A rise in chronic conditions and functional limitations is an unfortunate adjunct of longevity. The social environment in developing countries is also changing. Both men and women are increasingly being drawn into the workforce to improve their standards of living. Hence, there is a growing demand for LTC services in the developing world as well.

Mrs. Klausman is a 92-year-old resident in an assisted living facility. She has mild cognitive impairment and needs help with bathing and medication administration. Because of progressive arthritis, she is having difficulty eating. The silverware slips out of her hands and falls to the floor so that staff members must keep replacing it. Mrs. Klausman becomes visibly frustrated and embarrassed. The food service manager and the administrator decide to meet with Mrs. Klausman’s daughter, and recommend that the family should hire a home care provider to assist Mrs. Klausman at mealtimes. The facility does not have staff resources to feed residents. The resident’s daughter is thinking whether a skilled nursing facility would be more appropriate for her mother.
Questions
1. Identify and evaluate Mrs. Klausman’s deficit in self-feeding from different perspectives on what long-term care consists of.
2. Should Mrs. Klausman be transferred to a skilled nursing facility? Explain.
3. Is hiring a homemaker appropriate? Why or why not? What do you suggest?

Discussions

When answering or responding to discussion questions, be sure to write in your own words compelling arguments and cite brief references other than the textbooks, where appropriate. Also, be sure to consistently establish a linkage between the material beings discussed, work related experiences, or individual research. Most importantly, be specific in your response. No short answers allowed and use proper spelling and grammar in all responses within the discussion forums. One reference for each answers at least.
Another Note for the writer; It is discussions not an essay, so, Please be sure to do not write an essay and just answer the questions.
The course is: HUMAN RELATIONS IN MANAGEMENT

1) Shortly after Carol Bartz, IT executive and age sixty, was appointed as the new CEO of Yahoo! Inc, she made the following comments: “Let’s give Yahoo! some frigging breathing room…and we are going to focus on really getting outward looking and kick some butt.”

What is your evaluation of this type of personal communication style for an Internet company executive? How does this message affect the emotions and attitudes within the organizations?
2) From your experience, describe a situation in which a conflict was functional. Next, describe another example where the conflict was dysfunctional. Then, identify the crucial elements that made one functional and the other dysfunctional. As a leader, what do you think is your responsibility when it comes to functional and dysfunctional conflicts?

3) Why does knowledge lead to creativity? Ask an experienced professional how important creative thinking has been to his or her career. How does your creativity techniques compare to the professionals?
4) The top CEOs from the Fortune 500 companies have earned their collegiate degrees. Why do you think that completing your collegiate degree is crucial to your professional advancement. Reflect for a moment and describe your plan to advance in your particular career by utilizing the knowledge you have acquired while taking collegiate courses?

5) Ask a successful person what does he or she thinks are the two most important reasons for getting along with coworkers and managers? Compare and contrast your findings with your own reasons for getting along with them.
6) Identify and describe the signs of stress? What are some strategies for releasing stress and maintain our sanity in the workplace? How can stress impact our role as managers in the upward, horizontal, and downward chain of command?

Please type the answer under each question with minimum of 230 words, and 1 reference at least for each question, and if you can to make the references from the book.

3-1 Discussion: Production Theory

Please use the uploaded Book for the reading, and material as well. Please also use 2 references for the writing.

3-1 Discussion: Production Theory (Chapter 5)
Explore how a firm determines the optimal scale of a plant for a given rate of output and why this determination relates to “longer-run strategies” versus “current operations”.
Also, discuss the differences between “economies of scale” and “economies of scope” and how firms can benefit from each.
Then, provide a specific company example of economics of scale or economics of scope and how it affects production and cost or how technology affects the inputs and costs. Conduct research and use specific examples.

Program Implementation and Evaluation week 3 discussion

SMART Guidelines
Reflect on the vaccine program presented in this week’s Introduction. Vague goals such as “save the lives of babies” can be improved by turning them into goals with objectives that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and timely (SMART). For example, instead of just “increase rates,” one could be specific by stating, “Change knowledge, attitudes, and behavior so parents will vaccinate their children.” This objective could be made measurable by adding “so that rates will be 10% higher than the current 74% infant vaccination rate.” In order to be achievable an objective should be doable, and to be relevant projects should actually make a difference to the target community. Finally, always designate time limits, such as “by the end of 2020.” Many federal funding agencies now require objectives to be stated according to SMART Guidelines.
For this Discussion, use the SMART guidelines to draft one goal and three supporting objectives for your SPP.
Post by Day 4 an explanation of three potential implications of having poorly articulated goals and objectives for a public health program. Describe the goal and objectives you drafted. Finally, explain how these goals and objectives can contribute to the effectiveness of your public health program.

module 2 discussion 2

back ground:
Discussion 2: Thinking Critically About Issues
What did you discover as you debated with your colleagues about an issue this week? Did you or a colleague uncover information that made you consider altering your position? Perhaps the debate helped you to realize how much more you need to know before you are completely clear about your position. As a leader in education, you must stay abreast of the issues that matter in your specialization, regularly deepening and refreshing your knowledge to stay informed.

In this Discussion, you look more closely at the case study issue you debated in the Discussion 1. To prepare for this Discussion, consider all you have discovered about the case study this week. Conduct a search to obtain at least three scholarly articles that relate to the issue you debated. Finally, consider how the process of exploring and debating issues relates to your role as a change agent and advanced graduate degree student.

Keep in mind that the articles you obtain may support or refute the position you held in the debate or may introduce a different perspective altogether. Your purpose in this assignment is to learn more about the issue you have been exploring.

Assignment:
Submit a post covering each of the following elements:
•Explain what you have discovered about the issue from the debate and from the resources you located for this discussion.
•Identify answers to questions you have raised about the issue.
•Identify new questions you have now that you have discovered more about the issue.
•Explain how you might apply the critical analysis and research skills you have been practicing this week to your student and professional roles.

my position:
Issue with K-12,

U.S education is provided by private and public schools. Public education is required in K-12 level universally and is available in state universities and colleges. School curricula, policies, and school budgets are set by school boards who are elected in the local setup and have a jurisdiction standardized tests, supervising them through a board of regents.

My State’s most crucial responsibility lies in education, ensuring that learners are adequately prepared to venture into the job market and take advantage of upcoming opportunities that arise with the growth of the economy. My state has her future wholly depending on making a successful educational system for the learners, teachers, parents and the economy.

To achieve the purpose of education in My state, every child needs to be provided with the opportunity to access aligned education system that is of high quality from their early stages through post-secondary education. This can be achieved through the collaboration of multiple stakeholders such as the higher education and the labor market, to make maximum success in lifetime learning.

There is a need for implementation of high-quality instruction in each classroom that are learner-centered and strives to meet the learner’s personal goals as well as academic goals and seeks to maximize the student’s potential. This can be achieved through strong district and leadership building. By developing, supporting and sustaining a top-quality education system, the state is guaranteed of a collaborative workforce in education.

The state can reduce the effect of high-risk factors like poverty and create an equitable environment for all learners while meeting all their needs and ensure that all learners are exposed to quality opportunities in education. There should be set policies that engage parents and supported partners into the education of their children. A strong partnership can be created between the job market and community colleges as well as higher education institutions to make sure that the learners are prepared for the job market and are responsible citizens. The state can further develop educational agencies that are innovative and cohesive to support aligned systems of education at all levels.

To achieve the goals above, My State needs to come up with a set of standards in education that all schools should adopt. These set of standards are state standards and should be adopted in every state school for uniformity. The state standards detail what learners are required to know in English, Arts, and Mathematics when they complete each grade and implementing tests that measure if the students met the set standards. The set of standards seeks to establish a common ground for each student across every state and make sure that all the students who graduate from high school are fully prepared to take credit-bearing courses or college programs and later join the job market.

The state sets of required standards improve the education for all students. The general education students can compete in the same platform due to the standardized assessments. The special education and English language students, as well as the gifted students, are provided with a conducive environment for learning while the content they are required to learn is outlined for each grade.

The standards of education can be implemented through their incorporation in all levels of learning to improve the quality of education accessed by all students. Implementation of high-quality instruction in each classroom that is learner-centered and striving to meet the learner’s personal goals as well as academic goals and seeking to maximize the student’s potential can be one way of implementing the set of standards.

Implementation of the set of standards can be achieved through strong district and leadership building. By developing, supporting and sustaining a top-quality education system, the state is guaranteed of a collaborative workforce in education that is a great step into ensuring that the quality of education in all levels and types of classrooms that include general education, special education, and vocational training.

It is more effective to adopt state standards because they are easily controlled and funded by the state and create uniformity across the state. The materials required to support this adoption are standardized curriculum, syllabus, and assessment across the state. Teachers should be trained and certified by a uniform body to make sure that they are equipped with similar skills to carry out the professional requirements.

Policy makers, government leaders, principals, teachers in different specialties and points of view, students and parents agree to this adaptation and its implementation because it is directed at creating a harmonized output where learners leaving the institutions of learning have been exposed to similar curriculum and learning environment.
