Feasibility study of the deployment of solar technology in seawater desalination.
Brief description of the project with clearly defined aims and objectives and what is to be achieved both practically and academically. Please complete this part paying particular attention to software and/or hardware requirements that may not be currently available and how this will impact on the student’s progress.
There is increasing need for use of seawater for domestic use. The pressure on existing sources of water is high and so deploying new technologies to reclaim seawater is of great importance especially in the Middle East and Africa where sources of drinking water is under great pressure. The current process where electricity from generators are used for this purpose is not sustainable. This project seeks to explore the use of solar technology in seawater desalination. This is particularly important in Middle East and Africa where sun hours are higher than other parts of the world hence use of solar energy for such desalination is a feasible route.
Project Deliverables.
