Experimental Write up for Introduction to Psychology
Psychological researchers investigate topics of interest through literature searches and their own
psychological studies. It is also important that they communicate their findings to the general public and
other researchers through journal articles, popular media, and conference presentations.
The current assignment is to write a review paper which provides you with an opportunity to develop two
important skills of a researcher: critical thinking and written communication skills.
INSTRUCTIONS:
For this assignment, your task will be to read the journal article that is posted on the course site and
to summarize and discuss the limitations of the study.
 Create an APA formatted title page
 Clearly summarize the purpose of the study (approx. a few sentences)
 Clearly summarize the methodology such as number and type of participants, variables
examined/manipulated etc. (approx. 1/2 -1 page)
 Clearly summarize the results of the study (approx. 1/2 page)
 Write your paper clearly, succinctly keep it organized and comprehensible.
 Include a discussion of the results (approx. 1/2 – 1 page)
 Clearly discuss how the findings contribute to society at large (approx. ½ – 1 page)
 Create an APA formatted reference list
 Write your paper clearly, keep it organized and comprehensible.
 The entire assignment should be no more than 5 pages (double-spaced, typed, 12-point font) not
including title page and reference page. Please staple your pages together.
Please note that it is strongly encouraged that students complete and submit their assignment.
Note: Please staple a copy of your Plagiarism Certificate to the back of the paper
Failure to submit the assignment may result in a final course letter grade of an “F”.
The Assignment must be submitted in hard copy (paper) at the beginning of the class period on the day it is
due; a soft copy must also be deposited in the drop box of the course site. Late submissions will lose 4%
per business day; the clock stops when I receive the paper. A business day ends at 4:30 pm. So, for
example, if a student does not submit the assignment on the day that it is due at the beginning of class, then
4% has been lost. Further, if the assignment is handed in after 4:30 the next day, another 4% is lost. If I am
not in my office, please try to find another instructor and have them date, time, and sign your assignment
before you put it under my door. If I find your paper after 4:30 then 4% has been lost.
