2. Write a reflection in which you answer the following (1 paragraph per letter):
a. What is the general purpose of this article and how does it relate to you?
b. What is a threshold according to this article and what has your experience as a freshman been?
c. What role does writing play in the life of the student according to the Harvard study? What role do you honestly feel writing has played for you in your life?
d. What does it mean to be an academic “tourist”? What do you feel your experience in your Approaches to University Writing class has been?
e. What does Maura’s experience reveal? Can you relate? What have your struggles with writing or school in general been?
f. What is moral reasoning? Why is important to students?
g. What advice would you give yourself if you could send a message back in time to the you at the beginning of the semester?
Each paragraph should be about 6 sentences. If you merely answer the questions to the letter, you won’t get there. They don’t have to be exactly 6 sentences – I just want to see some real effort and reflection about what you read.
If you can slow down and be present with this assignment I’ll feel more confident that you will be able to give more challenging assignments and classes your full ability.
