Educational Implications for Students with Physical and Health Impairments

a) Benchmark Assessment:
i) Identify a minimum of 10 accommodations and/or modifications that the teachers used to assist students with physical and/or health impairments. Describe them in detail and then evaluate them according to research findings from a minimum of five references. Make suggestions regarding more appropriate accommodations and/or modifications. This section of your essay is entitled Research-based Evaluation of Accommodations and/or Modifications.
ii) Select three accommodations/modifications to implement with a student who has a physical or health impairment (you may use three different students if desired). Implement them under the auspices of the mentor teacher. Conduct the implementation with the following questions in mind for the section of the essay entitled Self-evaluation of Accommodations/Modifications Implementation:
(1) What were the accommodations/modifications you implemented? Why did you choose them?
(2) Did the implementation of the accommodations/modification unfold smoothly and effectively? Why or why not?
(3) What element(s) of the accommodations/modification was/were most effective?
(4) What aspect(s) of the accommodations/modification was/were difficult to facilitate? Did it negatively impact the overall success of the lesson? How so?
(5) How did you interpret the level of student engagement and motivation during the implementation of the accommodations/modifications? How would you suggest it to be modified to heighten its effectiveness?
(6) Defend your use of, or your rejection of, each accommodations/modification within this section of the essay.
1) Obtain parental permission to access the student’s IEP (or choose one of the three students). Analyze the student’s IEP and answer the following questions as the third section of your Benchmark Assessment essay entitled IEP Analysis:
(1) Which accommodations/modifications are listed in the IEP that would be effective to use with this student?
(2) Which accommodations/modifications are listed in the IEP that would not be effective to use with this student?
(3) Are there any modifications/accommodations that are not considered or discussed in the IEP that would be effective to use with this student? Explain.
ii) Write a 1250-1500 word essay that encompasses the three sections. Ensure that responses to the above questions are inherent within the essay and not simply short answer. Use standard essay format in APA style, including an introduction, conclusion, and title page. An abstract is required. Cite in-text and in the References section.
iii) Submit the following materials to your instructor by Module 8.

Pharmacotherapy for Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Disorders

Week 7 Discussion

Pharmacotherapy for Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Disorders

Gastrointestinal (GI) and hepatobiliary disorders affect the structure and function of the GI tract. Many of these disorders often have similar symptoms such as abdominal pain, cramping, constipation, nausea, bloating, and fatigue. Since multiple disorders can be tied to the same symptoms, it is important for advanced practice nurses to carefully evaluate patients and prescribe treatment that targets the cause rather than the symptom. Once the underlying cause is identified, an appropriate drug therapy plan can be recommended based on medical history and individual patient factors. In this Discussion, you examine a case study of a patient who presents with symptoms of a possible GI/hepatobiliary disorder, and you design an appropriate drug therapy plan.

Consider the following case study:

Patient HL comes into the clinic with the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The patient has a history of drug abuse and possible Hepatitis C. HL is currently taking the following prescription drugs:

Synthroid 100 mcg daily
Nifedipine 30 mg daily
Prednisone 10 mg daily

To prepare:
•Review this week’s media presentation on pharmacology for the gastrointestinal system.
•Review the provided case study. Reflect on the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and drugs currently prescribed.
•Think about a possible diagnosis for the patient. Consider whether the patient has a disorder related to the gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary system or whether the symptoms are the result of a disorder from another system or other factors such as pregnancy, drugs, or a psychological disorder.
•Consider an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.

Post on or before Day 3 an explanation of your diagnosis for the patient including your rationale for the diagnosis. Then, describe an appropriate drug therapy plan based on the patient’s history, diagnosis, and drugs currently prescribed.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

CRITICALLY ANALYSE the threat of communicable disease (EBOLA) in local, national and international populations.

NOTE: Critical writing with Harvard Style Referencing.

Please it is fine if you write more than the recommended page. Just let me know and I’ll make amends

Asthma

Complications of asthma can be sudden. Consider the case of Bradley Wilson, a young boy who had several medical conditions. He appeared in good health when he went to school, returned home, and ate dinner. However, when he later went outside to play, he came back inside wheezing. An ambulance took him to the hospital where he was pronounced dead (Briscoe, 2012). In another case, 10-year-old Dynasty Reese, who had mild asthma, woke up in the middle of the night and ran to her grandfather’s bedroom to tell him she couldn’t breathe. By the time paramedics arrived, she had passed out and was pronounced dead at the hospital (Glissman, 2012). These situations continue to outline the importance of recognizing symptoms of asthma and providing immediate treatment, as well as distinguishing minor symptoms from serious, life-threatening symptoms. Since these symptoms and attacks are often induced by a trigger, as an advanced practice nurse, you must be able to help patients identify their triggers and recommend appropriate treatment options. For this reason, you need to understand the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.
To prepare:
Review “Asthma” in Chapter 26 of the Huether and McCance text. Identify the pathophysiological mechanisms of chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation. Consider how these disorders are similar and different.
Select a patient factor different from the one you selected in this week’s Discussion: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Think about how the factor you selected might impact the pathophysiology of both disorders. Reflect on how you would diagnose and prescribe treatment of these disorders for a patient based on the factor you selected.
Review the “Mind maps—Dementia, Endocarditis, and Gastro-oesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD)” media in the Week 2 Learning Resources. Use the examples in the media as a guide to construct two mind maps—one for chronic asthma and one for acute asthma exacerbation. Consider the epidemiology and clinical presentation of both chronic asthma and acute asthma exacerbation.

Informatics and Evidence Based Practice

You are consulting with the education and practice development team in a large tertiary care hospital serving a region comprising mostly rural communities. The team is responsible for strengthening the implementation of evidence-based practice based on outcomes. Over the next 2 years, it must set performance objectives to (1) strengthen screening for pain, depression, and adverse health behaviors (smoking, excess alcohol intake, and body mass index [BMI] greater than 30) at intake for all adult admissions; (2) implement comprehensive geriatric assessment for all those over age 65 hospitalized for more than 7 days or readmitted within less than 3 days following discharge; and (3) promote care team performance.

The hospital has 200 adult admissions each week and has implemented a fully electronic health record. Guideline dissemination generally occurs through educational venues or via the electronic policy and procedure manual. The method of documentation for narrative notes is documentation by exception using SOAP (subjective, objective, assessment, and plan) and the hospital has also made extensive use of checklists to complement the documentation system.
Discussion Questions

1. Using clinical guidelines and standards of care, identify what data elements should be included in the EHR assessment and evaluation screens if these goals are to be achieved.
2. Identify how information system defaults and alerts could be used to achieve these goals.
3. Once screening has been improved, what are the next steps in improving patient outcomes?
4. How could the EHR be designed to support these outcome-related goals?

Health Care Provider and Faith Diversity: First Draft

The practice of health care providers at all levels brings you into contact with people from a variety of faiths. This calls for knowledge and acceptance of a diversity of faith expressions.

The purpose of this paper is to complete a comparative analysis of two faith philosophies towards providing health care, one being the Christian perspective. For the second faith, choose a faith that is unfamiliar to you. Examples of faiths to choose from: Sikh, Baha’i, Buddhism, Shintoism, etc.

In a minimum of 1,500-2,000 words, provide a comparative analysis of the different belief systems, reinforcing major themes with insights gained from your research.

In your comparative analysis, address all of the worldview questions in detail for Christianity and your selected faith. Refer to chapter 2 of the Called to Care for the list of questions. Be sure to address the implications of these beliefs for health care.
Questions
1- What is prime reality?
2-What is the nature of this world around us?
3-What is a human being?
4-What happens to a person at death?
5-Why is it possible to know anything at all?
6-How do we know what is right and wrong?
7-What is the meaning of human history?
In addition answer the following questions that address the practical and healthcare implications based on the research:

What are critical common components to all religions/beliefs in regards to healing, such as prayer, meditation, belief, etc.? Explain.
What is important to patients of the faiths when cared for by health care providers whose spiritual beliefs differ from their own?
In your conclusion, describe your own spiritual perspective on healing, what you have learned from the research and how this learning can be applied to a health care provider.

Support your position by referencing at least three academic resources (preferably from the GCU Library) in addition to the course readings, the Bible, and the textbooks for each religion. Each religion must have a primary source included. A total of six references are required according to the specifications listed above. Incorporate the research into your writing in an appropriate, scholarly manner.

Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is required.

This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Week 5 Journal

After completing this week’s Practicum Experience, reflect on a patient with a known history of asthma. Explain potential predisposing genetic and environmental factors associated with asthma. If you did not evaluate a patient with this background during the last 5 weeks, you may select a related case study from a reputable source or reflect on previous clinical experiences.

DB 7

Consider the following case study:
A 52-year-old African American male presents to an urgent care center complaining of urinary frequency and nocturia. The symptoms have been present for several months and have increased in frequency over the past week. He has been unable to sleep because of the need to urinate at least hourly all day and night. He does not have a primary care provider and has not seen a doctor in more than 10 years. His father died when he was a child in an automobile accident, and his mother is 79 years old and has hypertension. The patient has no siblings. His social history includes the following: banker by profession, divorced father of two grown children, non-smoker, and occasionally consumes alcohol on weekends only.
a description of the history that you need to obtain from the patient in the case study. Include a list of questions that you might ask the patient. Then, describe types of physical exams and diagnostics that might be appropriate for evaluation of the patient. Finally, explain a possible diagnosis, as well as potential treatment options for the patient based on this diagnosis

Journal week 6

After completing this week’s Practicum Experience, reflect on a patient who presented with abdominal pain. Describe the patient’s personal and medical history, drug therapy and treatments, and follow-up care. If you did not evaluate a patient with this background during the last 6 weeks, you may select a related case study from a reputable source or reflect on previous clinical experiences.

DB 6

n primary care settings, patients often present with abdominal pain. Although this is frequently a sign of a gastrointestinal (GI) disorder, abdominal pain could also be the result of other systemic disorders, making this type of pain difficult to assess. While abdominal pain is most common, many other GI symptoms also overlap multiple disorders, further increasing the difficulty in diagnosing and treating patients. This makes provider-patient communication essential. You must be able to formulate questions that will prompt the patient to provide the necessary information, as this will guide your assessment and diagnosis. For this Discussion, consider potential diagnoses for the patients in the following case studies.
Case Study 1:
A 49-year-old man presents to the office complaining of vague abdominal discomfort over the past few days. He states he does not feel like eating and has not moved his bowels for the last 2 days. His patient medical history includes an appendectomy at age 22 and borderline hypertension, which he is trying to control with diet and exercise. He takes no medications and has no known allergies. Positive physical exam findings include a temperature of 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit, heart rate of 98, respiratory rate of 24, and blood pressure of 150/72. The abdominal exam reveals abdominal distention, diminished bowel sounds, and lower left quadrant tenderness without rebound.
Think about a differential diagnosis. Consider the role the patient history and physical exam played in diagnosis.
Reflect on potential treatment options based on your diagnosis.
