Hand Hygiene – The aim of this assignment is for the student to demonstrate an understanding of quality and safety in healthcare, including organisational and nursing strategies for care delivery, and evaluation of standards of care.

Aim:
The aim of this assignment is for the student to demonstrate an understanding of quality and safety in healthcare, including organisational and nursing strategies for care delivery, and evaluation of standards of care.

Task Details and Criteria
All Australians have the right to receive safe, high quality health care, regardless of the setting
(ACSQHC, 2008). Information about quality of care within health care organisations is discussed under three (3) categories: Structure, Process and Outcome (Donabedian, 1988).
• Structure – the context in which health care is delivered, inclusive of its buildings, its staff, its financial structures, and all its varied equipment.
• Process – activities, procedures, processes that are actually conducted in giving and receiving care.
• Outcomes – the effects of the care on the health status of the patient or patient population.
Information gathered about the processes used to deliver care is identified as Process data. Information about the resultant outcomes is identified as Outcome data. A clear relationship is identified in literature between Process and Outcome (Donabedian, 1988).
For this Assignment, you are required to:
1. Identify and explain the aims and core business of health institutions from the perspective of both the organisation and the nursing sector within the organisation
2. Identify and explain Process data and Outcome data in the context of quality and safety in health care
3. Use one (1) example of a clinical care activity for which process and outcome data is collected to:
• Discuss the clinical care activity in relation to quality and safety,
• Critically analyse scholarly literature and relevant resources to discuss the process and outcome data collected about that activity,
• Discuss how these data are used in relation to quality and safety in health care institutions.
Refer to the marking criteria for specific details

Current and Future Considerations for Health Care Delivery

Assignment details at bottom to include length and required content

*Use the Learning Resources provided in this module, as well as previous modules, and locate additional sources through the Walden Library and credible websites to conduct your research. Use the following questions to guide your investigation:
•What are the prevalent health concerns in this community?
•What are the key issues related to cost, quality, and access that affect the organization and the people this organization serves?
•Which organizations in this area are business competitors and/or which organizations use highly effective practices or strategies that this organization may learn from or adopt?
•How will demographics and health reform likely impact the organization, as well as the broader community, in the next 5 years?

Next, review the information on business writing included in the Learning Resources. Consider what the central point of your memo should be. For instance, is there a critical challenge the organization is likely to encounter? Does the information you have gathered suggest the need for a particular course of action or a new business direction? If so, use this memo to inform and influence the CEO. If not, share the findings of your research with the assumption that the CEO will use this information as a launching point for future discussions.

The Assignment

Write a 2- to 3-page business memo in which you address:
•Prevalent health concerns in the community
•Issues related to cost, quality, and access that affect the organization and the people it serves
•Organizations in the community that are business competitors and/or from which you can learn highly effective practices or strategies
•Ways in which changing demographics and health reform will likely affect your organization and the broader community in the next 5 years
Your Assignment must be written in standard edited English. Be sure to support your work with specific citations from this module’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct. See the rubric for additional requirements related to research and scholarly writing.

Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are caused by bacteria—most often Escherichia coli. However, certain viruses, fungi, and parasites can also lead to infection. The infection can affect the lower and upper urinary tract, including the urethra, prostate (in males), bladder, ureter, and kidney. Due to the progression of the disease and human anatomy, symptoms present differently among the sexes as well as among age groups. It is important to understand how these factors, as well as others, impact the pathophysiology of UTIs. Advanced practice nurses must have this foundation in order to properly diagnose patients.

To prepare:
•Review Chapter 29 in the Huether and McCance text. Identify the pathophysiology of lower and upper urinary tract infections. Consider the similarities and differences between the two types of infections.
•Select two of the following patient factors: genetics, gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Reflect on how the factors you selected might impact the pathophysiology of the infections, as well as the diagnosis of and treatment for the infections.

Post on or before Day 3 a description of the pathophysiology of lower and upper urinary tract infections, including their similarities and differences. Then explain how the factors you selected might impact the pathophysiology of the infections, as well as the diagnosis of and treatment for the infections.

Disorders of the Reproductive Systems

While the male and female reproductive systems are unique to each sex, they share a common function—reproduction. Disorders of this system range from delayed development to structural and functional abnormalities. Since many reproductive disorders not only result in physiological consequences but also psychological consequences such as embarrassment, guilt, or profound disappointment, patients are often hesitant to seek treatment. Advanced practice nurses need to educate patients on disorders and help relieve associated stigmas. During patient evaluations, patients must feel comfortable answering questions so that you, as a key health care provider, will be able to diagnose and recommend treatment options. As you begin this Discussion, consider reproductive disorders that you would commonly see in the clinical setting.

To prepare for this Discussion:
•Review Chapter 22 and Chapter 23 in the McPhee and Hammer text, as well as Chapter 32 in the Huether and McCance text.
•Select two disorders of the male and/or female reproductive systems that interest you. Consider the similarities and differences between the disorders.
•Select one of the following factors: genetics, ethnicity, age, or behavior. Think about how the factor you selected might impact the diagnosis of and treatment for the reproductive disorders.

Post on or before Day 3 a description of the two reproductive disorders you selected, including their similarities and differences. Then explain how the factor you selected might impact the diagnosis of treatment for the reproductive disorders.
MUST USE RESOURCES 5 YEARS OR LESS AND MUST PUT THE PAGE NUMBER WHEN CITING SO THAT THEY INSTRUCTOR/STUDENT CAN ACCESS. IT MUST BE ACCESSIBLE FOR THE INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENTS. ALSO. PLEASE PUT IN PARAGRAPHS WITH LABELS FOR EACH QUESTION.

US model of Health Care in the international perspective: Lessons for the United States from abroad (or alternatively: What can other counties learn from US Health Care System)

.
Term Paper/Background Memo (9-11 pages): Your goal is to a write an informative
background memo on a policy topic or a theoretical topic. You are free to choose
your topic as long as it falls broadly into the field of public economics as construed
in this class. Some potential topics are given below. Your paper will be graded for
the clarity exposition, argumentation and the use of sources. The goal of this paper
is not necessarily to argue a point, but to provide a balanced presentation of a
debate. You will be required to submit your topic for approval, as well as submit a
(approximately 50% finished) first draft in addition to the final paper. Note that the
first draft is worth 5% of the course grade.
You are welcome to use as sources academic journals, working papers,
newspapers/magazines, policy papers by think-thanks/governmental agencies/international
agencies and other sources (such as books). Most sources are available online. Do not rely
solely on newspaper/magazine commentary as sources; the goal is to write about the
economics of the question, so it is important to relate to some of the economic analysis
underlying the question. When citing information from a source, please try to keep in mind
the underlying policy stand taken by the author/the publishing entity and try to present a
balanced view on the topic. This does not mean that you are not allowed to take a particular
point-of-view on the topic, but your paper should not present only one side of the argument.
