you will have to create a topic related to mental health

Assessment Guidelines
Assessment Brief:
You are to write a 3,000 word (+/- 10% excluding reference list) a literature review. Select a
topic of interest which is relevant to your pathway based on one of the domains from the NHS
Outcomes Framework (2015/16) informed by the NICE Quality Standard or GP Contract
Quality and Outcomes Framework (2015/16). Formulate a research queation relating to your
area of practice, undertake a systematic literature search of relevant sources, examine and
critically evaluate the relevant evidence-based information in order to identify the clinical
practice gap and make an action plan to address them to bridge the gap, which may form part
of your background to yout project in the Evaluating and Advancing Nursing Practice module
assignment.
Module Learning Outcomes
Learning Outcome 1
Critically examine how evidence-based practice underpins their safe practice in healthcare.
Learning Outcome 2
Distinguish confidently between the different types of evidence used in nursing practice.
Learning Outcome 3
Critically evaluate the different research paradigms and approaches within evidence-based
practice, including qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
Learning Outcome 4
Critically apply relevant research findings for patient benefit.
Essay structure
1. Introduction (200 words) An introduction generally need to answer these 3 questions.
a. What? The introduction must begin by clearly explaining what the essay is about.
Identify in your own words what is required in the assessment brief given above.
b. How? The second part of the introduction needs to outline how the essay is
structured. You need to summarise the details given in points 2 to 5 below.
c. Why? An introduction needs to articulate why the topic under consideration is of
significance. This should be evidence-based and supported with relevant
literature.
2. Background (500 words)
a. Briefly summarise what is already known about the topic, and how this relates to
your chosen domain from the NHS Outcomes Framework (2015/16). (Learning
Outcome 4).
2
b. Briefly highlight the key original research studies and guidelines related to your
topic that have been published in reputable journals/sources in your field of
practice. (Learning Outcome 2).
c. Explain and justify why the findings of the background studies indicate a need for
your review of literature. In other words, explain what already exists and the gaps
in what is known that will be answered during your review of existing literature.
(Learning outcome 1& 4).
3. Formulation of a research question (200 words)
a. Clearly explain the process you followed to formulate your question using the
PICO/SPICE framework. (Learning Outcome 3).
b. Explain the issue you are examining, its significance to your field of practice and
its relation to your chosen domain from the NHS Outcomes Framework
(2015/16). (Learning Outcome 4).
c. Clearly explain why the question you have formulated needs to be answered and
the reasons why it is important to your field of practice.
d. Clearly explain the improvements that will result from the findings of the review of
the literature. (Learning outcome 1).
4. Methodology (700 words)
a. Discuss the Literature search search strategy that you have used.
i. Search terms. Give details of the ‘terms’ you used to search for the literature.
ii. Briefly outline the type of studies that were included in your search and those
that were excluded. Give a rationale for this criteria.
iii. Sources. Identify the sources you searched. Briefly discuss the range of
materials that were observed during the search. (Learning Outcome 3).
a. Discuss the process you followed in order to identify the research papers/relevant
literature you have selected. You need to demonstrate that you have appraised
the research paper (You could use a tool such as CASP/Moule and Heck (2011)
guidelines). (Learning Outcome 3).
b. Discuss how you extracted data from your articles. Clearly discuss the tool you
used (for example, Timmins and McCabe (2005). Ensure that the data you extract
includes: research aims or hypothesis, research design, sampling, participants,
data collection methods, reliability and validity considerations, how data were
analysed, findings and their interpretations, ethical considerations and limitations
of the studies. (Learning Outcome 3).
A data extraction table needs to be included.
3
c. Discuss your approach to synthesis, for example, narrative synthesis. Give a
rationale for your approach to synthesis. (Learning outcome 3).
5. Discussion (1200 words)
a. Describe the literature obtained and confidently distinguish between the different
types of evidence. (Learning outcome 2).

Assignment 2: Managing Health Care Quality

Imagine that you are a hospital administrator at the Sunlight Hospital in California. The main complaint among the patients is the quality of care. Your job is to understand the state of the hospital, create value, increase efficiency, and turn the facility into a local hospital of choice. Whenever you are making visits in various wards to meet the employees and the patients, you hear how the patients love the hospital, but they would like to see certain improvements in care. The employees seem to be very busy executing their duties and not interacting much with the patients. The hospital board has asked you to compile a report of your findings and suggested strategy for achieving the hospital’s current goals.

Note: You may create and / or make all necessary assumptions needed for the completion of this assignment.

Write a three to six (3-6) page paper in which you:

1. Classify five (5) measurements of quality of care in a hospital, and justify the major reasons why you believe these measurements matter to patients in their process of choosing a hospital for emergency or inpatient care.

2. Specify four (4) main features in health care organizations that can be used to design a successful quality improvement plan. Articulate the significant manner in which the specified features can lead to failure or success of quality of care in Sunlight Hospital.

3. Suggest the salient reasons why quality of care would add value to and create a competitive advantage for the Sunlight Hospital. Justify your response.

4. Use four (4) recent (within the last five [5] years) quality academic resources in this assignment.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
• Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.

Domestic violence trauma at different ages and play therapy

(use recent peer-reviewed articles to support paper)
-Describe, in detail, the traumatic issue and how it would affect three children at three different ages,Dakota at 3 years old, Casey at 8 years old, and Jody 14 years old, using information on brain development, the social and environmental effects of trauma of domestic violence, and how you would holistically treat each different child with different play therapy models and interventions. Remember to address how each particular child is affected and symptoms based on there developmental stage.

Use the following outline to develop your paper and label accordingly:
1.Identify, in detail, the traumatic issue that has occurred..
2.Explore the range of reactions that would present in the following hypothetical children: Dakota, age 3; Casey, age 8; and Jody, age 14..
3.Use your readings related to the effects of trauma on the developing brain to explore the variations of traumatic effects on these children, including aspects of the issue which are more or less severe at different stages of the child’s growth..
4.Differentiate the likely social and environmental effects of trauma for each of the children..
5.Explain the models of play therapy you would use to best meet the needs of each of the children. Support your explanations by citing peer-reviewed studies on both trauma and play-therapy interventions and techniques for children at each age level..
6.Analyze any aspects of the issue that touch on ethical and legal concerns for each developmental age..
7.Close your paper by describing possible vicarious trauma and therapist self-care..

Grading:
-Identifies symptomatology presented with a specific trauma, and explains specific examples.
-Differentiates the likely social and environmental effects of trauma with children of varied ages, and evaluates the evidence that could be used to prioritize the children’s needs
-Explains specific play-therapy approaches for treatment of a traumatic issue with children of varied ages, and identifies criteria to evaluate why these models are the best choices.
-Analyzes legal and ethical concerns when working with children of varied ages who have been affected by a traumatic issue, and evaluates relevant laws and ethics that would influence play-therapy approaches.
-Communicates through writing in a manner that is scholarly, professional, and well organized, and provides logical, substantive messages anchored in recommendations from contemporary, evidence-based research.
