Contemporary Fashion

Mark Durden claims: ‘One of the key problems in photographing the human body is the objectification and abstraction that photography can involve as a result of the way in which the medium can fix, fetishise and idealise the body.’
Referring to a selection of four contemporary photographers, consider; is this always a problem and argue for and against his assertion.

Critical Thinking in Practice

Have you thought much about how you think? This week, we are considering the concept of critical thinking. How we interpret and analyze information, explain and evaluate what we perceive–all of which leads to decisions and actions. Successful scholars and clinicians are open to an objective inquiry process such as the 5-step critical thinking problem solving process (Facione, 2013, pg. 25) and continually work to enhance their critical thinking skills.

Read the two articles assigned under Required Readings and Activities:

Critical thinking: What it is and why it counts (Facione, 2013); and

Barriers to clinical decision making in nursing (O’Reilly, 1993).

Post a reflection (personal observations, perceptions and thoughts–not scholarly writing assignment) on the two articles. Consider the following questions in your reflection:
•Define critical thinking in your own words. How do you apply critical thinking in practice?
•Complete the critical thinking disposition self-rating found on page 13 of the Facione article. Do you think your score is reflective of your current level of critical thinking skills and disposition?
•How do you think the RN-BSN program will enhance your critical thinking skills?
•What measures will you take to improve your critical thinking problem solving skills?
•What are some of the barriers you have experienced (or anticipate) in applying critical problem solving to clinical or academic situations?

The post does not need to be in APA format, and references are not required (unless additional sources are used/cited). Respond to at least one of your peer’s postings.

Homeland Security,— See below for details

You have been hired to conduct an incident post-mortem to provide feedback to senior government officials on the performance of various response teams during a disaster event.

Using your answers to Written Assignment 2 (Module 2: Assessing the Situation) as a starting point, describe the steps that you would take to conduct the post-mortem.

What are the key success factors in managing large, multi-agency and multi-jurisdictional response programs?
How can we determine or measure “success” in response?
How can we design drills and tests that specifically evaluate the key success factors for response?

Answer these questions in a memo of 8-10 pages, double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman. Your memo should be documented in APA style.

Thinking Critically About Issues

What did you discover as you debated with your colleagues? Did you or a colleague uncover information that made you consider altering your position? Perhaps the debate helped you to realize how much more you need to know before you are completely clear about your position. As an education leader, you must stay abreast of the issues that matter in yourspecialization to deepen and refresh your knowledge regularly so you are well informed.
In this Discussion, you will look more closely at the case study issue you debated in Discussion 1. To prepare for this Discussion, consider everything you discovered about the case study. Conduct a search to obtain at least three scholarly articles that relate to the issue you debated. Finally, consider how the process of exploring and debating issues relates to your role as a change agent and advanced graduate degree student.
Keep in mind that the articles you obtain may support or refute the position you held in the debate, or they may introduce a different perspective altogether. Your purpose in this Discussion is to learn more about the issue you have been exploring.
Submit by Day 6 (of Module 2) a post that does the following:
• Explains what you discovered about the issue from the debate and from the resources you located for this Discussion.
• Identifies answers to the questions you have raised about the issue
• Identifies new questions you have about the issue.
• Explains how you might apply the critical analysis and research skills you have practiced this week to your role as a student and as a professional.

Characterization of the Plowman in Canterbury Tales

After reading the characterizations of the plowman, friar, and franklin (landowner) compare and contrast their personalities. Are they pleasing or unpleasing according to their social status? Class status? Do you feel they are stereotypical according to what you read in the “Historical Overview”? Does your reading of the plowman add or take away from your perspectives of a farmer or farming?
